  1. No agents, no professional pictures, no counter signatories and no UK visit required. This is recent information as of two months ago. I applied online with the HMPO website while in Thailand. Uploaded my own telephone pics which were checked and accepted by the website. Paid with my UK credit card. Sent my old passport to HMPO from Thailand with priority EMS at post office. Used my sister's UK address for delivery. When my sister received my new passport, she posted to Thailand with Royal Mail tracked/signature/airmail service. From online application to receipt of new passport in Thailand took six weeks.
  2. I had to call HMPO on three consecutive days in February. +443003300901 Frustratingly, after the first two calls and assuming each time that the matter was resolved, I received an email requiring further action. Finally resolved the issues and clarified exactly what was required then sent my old passport directly to them with priority EMS from Thailand to the UK. My advice is not to try and understand the logic nor question why the request was not made earlier - simply clarify what is needed then do it - without getting frustrated with the person on the other end of the call..
  3. I just completed this quiz. My Score 70/100 My Time 65 seconds

  5. I just completed this quiz. My Score 40/100 My Time 35 seconds
  6. Good job that you managed to convince a Thai woman to change her mind. 😄 I'm actually not a million miles away here in Roi Et so if your needs change, i can chuck a few coins in the mail.
  7. Do they have to be American coins? I have a large selection from numerous countries that I use when teaching. I'm sure I could spare a few.
  8. I suspect that vehicle it is a mobile music bus that can be hired for your celebration. Looks very similar to something I recently saw/heard at a local wedding. They roll up to the venue and start blasting out their wares for everyone in the village to 'enjoy'. The Thais love their bass! The one I encountered was also bright red.
  9. I'm guessing it's that time of the year where you can set your watch by the arrival of the daily KL monsoon...
  10. Any words I use to express how I feel about the OP will be automatically deleted by the AN algorithm so I shall simply add him to my blocked list instead. Karma has a way of dealing with these low-lifes...
  11. Where are they located?
  12. I've taken on two dogs this way. Ostensibly, they belonged to two different neighbours but after bringing them home for treatment and food, there was no pushback from their former owners. Both dogs considered me their new dad and made no attempt to return to their original abode. Go for it and please help this poor pup.
  13. I'm not saying that I'm too competitive - however... I couldn't let GarryP's post go unanswered. ☺️ ???? One of the great things about Issan is the general lack of hills - just over 1m of climbing for every horizontal kilometre.
  14. Qatar was recommended to me as a good airline for pet transport. You need to advise separately that you have animals to travel with you and of course, there will be an additional charge. They can go on another flight but I preferred to travel on the same plane. I used them when coming to Thailand from Saudi Arabia which included a stopover and change of aircraft. Everything went smoothly and I have no complaints with their service. I was hoping for an option to take him in the cabin with me but that wasn't possible at the time, The paperwork was all done via an agent so not sure if a similar service exists in Thailand or the UK.
  15. I hope the reward is worth the pursuit...
  16. I think most of us cyclists have mild OCD to varying degrees. ???? I upload my rides to the Garmin website which automatically links to Strava. However, I also maintain a spreadsheet to monitor the wear rate on my tyres, chain etc. It also calculates what my average distance should be for each of my remaining rides in order to reach my monthly goal.
  17. What is your user name on Strava? I tried searching for StreetCowboy but no joy.
  18. The one thing better than two dogs is.... four dogs ????
  19. I took a friend's remains to the UK. Went as checked-in luggage rather than carry on. No problem leaving Thailand and did not declare anything. Same with arrival - went through x-ray machine but nothing flagged. Did not take any documentation or embassy letters.
  20. I usually buy Nexgard from my vet. A single dose for dogs up to 50kg costs 380 baht. However, I cut it into four equal pieces so it can treat four dogs up to 12kg each. Best practice is to repeat the treatment after four weeks to ensure 100% effectiveness. I've done this for various dogs in my neighbourhood. Are you close to a vet who may have cheaper medicine available?
  21. My friend paid for private treatment at a government hospital in Roi Et. It cost him 100k baht. He was very happy and able to play golf again after just a few weeks.
  22. ???? Fun fact: Every standard Rubik's cube can be solved in a maximum of 20 moves from any starting position, no matter how scrambled.
  23. A friend of mine paid 'private' rates at a government hospital. His operation was about three months ago. All in, it cost ฿100 000. He was back on the golf course after three weeks of recovery.
