Yes I had same issue last November at CW for annual extension based on retirement using funds in the bank.

In the past photocopies of bank book pages along with bank book had been accepted for many years.

Immigration issue was that I had various months with zero transactions.

    They wanted Bank Statements.

    Asked to see supervisor.

Eventually approved with I had to promise to provide bank statements for next extension.

    As for your other question.

    "Retirement Visa"

    There is no such thing.

It's shorthand for non O based on retirement and subsequent extensions. OR

Could also be a Non O-A...OR

Also could be a multiple entry Non O (retirement) .

Thanks for your answer ! The only thing that could be the reason,is that I did not have any transactions.I always thought that it was good to not have any:making it easy and clear. But I now understand, that it looks suspicious, and actually makes problem.Guess I have to do some transactions in the future.( on the money that is over the 800.000 )

  2. I have got extensions from different imm offices in my 35 years in thailand. About the 800.ooo in bank, there never were a problem, until latest visit at Chayaphum imm. I got the statement from the bank about being an accountholder and the amount in it.Also the usual copies of every page of the bankbook, stamped by the bank. Can also mention, that I never touch this account;the money just stays there. This time, this was not enough.I was told to get "a one year statement from the bank".So I went to the bank and told them that.Back to Imm. No,not correct.I asked what was wrong,so I could tell the bank, but only get the answer: " Statement!!" Alright,I tried again with the bank, and they detailed every  move in the year past on one paper, which was easy, since there weren`t any, exept interest and tax.Somehow, this was not correct either.I tried another bank, where I also have enough funds, and finally imm accepted it.I do not know what the difference was,and I was too tired of it all to think of making a copy.Have anybody else some knowledge on this subject, and can offer some detailed info ?BTW,it is a "retirement visa".

Yet, there are more situation than not that don't fit into this neat and expected stereotype [and myth].

Every situation and experience will be different from the next.

Don't seem to be terribly observant after 30 years......or you don't get out much. Broad exposure and experience is everything.

I don`t know what you have been observing the last 30 years, but my observations on this subject is from what I de facto know from the village I live in. I know of MANY women, where sin sot been practised, even after more than one married. Most cases between thai and thai ! My MIL suggested it already after a couple of weeks! And my bride to be,had been married before.Luckely for me,the marrige has been a good one;best woman I ever met!

  4. I am living in Isaan now for 30 more years.I can tell you, that her family, specially her mother,is planning for a wedding.!! Why?  Because you are expected to pay a nice sum money for her, plus finance the wedding. For the moment,I know of two families that are eagerly waiting for their daughters to bring home the catch.

  5. I was a gambling addict, many years ago. Of course I wanted to stop, but at the same time,I wanted to go on:had to go on.1989 I moved to Thailand. I had three-four reasons for doing so. One was, that at that time, the were no where I could gamble in Isaan. So that forced me to stop.Otherwise,to be honest,I don´t think I could have done it.Now a days I have no interest of gambling;don´t miss it! My point: It is VERY difficult for an addicted person to end the addiction.I could stop smoking and drinking, but gambling....Up to you,of course,to decide what to do,but my guess is,that she will never stop.

if all the tests came back showing nothing wrong why was she there in the first place ?

We knew already that she had covid (hometest). The very first test they did,was to check for covid. The reason I brought her there, was in case it would get worse and she might need help with breathing. It never happened, she never needed help from any machine. There were no other signs ,that she was sick in any other way. That is what I meant by saying that there were no reason to start a massiv testing of unrelated sickness. A few days later,me too got the virus. But no way did I want to feed the hospital.I was ok after three days.

So, she spent 3 days in the hospital, had many tests (HIV test is not unusual for a person admitted to a hospital), part of her time she was in ICU, there were 466 items on the bill so for some reason they felt thorough testing and examination of her was necessary.

All this for $2,000?   Sounds like the bargain of the century to me doesn appear to be a rip off at all.

Sure they had some reason for the testing,ICU and so on; The reason was to make money !!None of all that testing did show anything wrong,so why did they get the idea to do it. ICU was a short time.No machin, other than for bloodpreassure, was used.My wife asked them repetedly to bring her back to her room,or to tell the doctor to come and see her,but no---I did check the medicines later, and many had the same purpose. They had gloves in a plasticbag, and from the look of them,my wife thought they were all second hand. But we paid for very expensive glovs,of more than one sort.About HIV test;I understand, that if someone is to have a surgery,it could be important to know, for the sake of the personal, wether the patient is HIV positiv. In our case,no surgery was needed. And not a complet health check up.IF it were, they could have informed us before hand, and we could rejekt it.When I complained to a "superviser",she asked for,and got,my E-mail adress. She promised to bring my complaints forward.Of course,I never recived any mail..." Bargain of the century",well, please remember that,if it happens to you !!!

  8. What about a "holistic" testament ? A handwritten and signed testament by the person, who wants to make a teatament.I am told, that it is valid, but have my doubts, since most people seems to think, that it must be more complicated and done by a lawfirm....In my case,I just wrote, that ALL of my possesions shall go to a certain person.I don´t have a lot of different assets, just my bankaccounts.

  9. OK,I will try to make it more clear. When I got my extension,12/5, I only,as always, had copies of the bankbook, the bankbook and a letter from the bank. And the rest of the usual documents.I did not have anything, except the bankbook itself,to show that I had still the money (800000)  in the bank after 2 months or that the money were in the bank 3 months before me going to get extension. So the officer reminded me,that next time I should have, what he called "statements" of the status of the money, two months after extension and three months before NEXT extension.I forgot to ask him 1/ What exaktly is meant by the word "statement": does it have to be a letter from the bank or is it enough to have an update in the book? Or both ?  2/ Do I have to go to immigration to show these things at 2 months after the recent extension and three months before the next one,or is i ok to wait until I go there next year. Hopefully this will be clear enough,at least for people in the same situation....

  10. I made my extension on 12/5 (non immigrant O) and was told to have a statement after TWO months, and also three months before next extension.I forgot to ask,if "statement" means bankletters,or just updates...Or perhaps both.. Also,is it enough to show it when I go for my new extension,or must I go after 2 months and before 3 months? Yes,I know,I should have asked them.Or I can try to ask them now.But if I don`t have to be in contact with them,I feel better...

I think it is up to 9 months before.

My embassy (Sweden) says on it`s website, that one can apply for a new pp TWO months before it expires...My pp expires in may -23,and my extension is till June -22. Now I read, that it is possible to get an extension till the pp expires, and there after, when I get my new pp,I can get back to the original time of expire,ie June. Is this confirmed and certain ? Or perhaps even go on in the future with the "new" extensiondate, which would be the most easy.

  12. 7974 Baht/month to bring up one child...Pensioners have 500/month from the government! Let`s say they have 3 grandchildren to bring up;thats about 30000 baht/month !! Plus x baht for their own living.Often children do not send any money,on the contrary, they often beg their poor parents to send them money! I know personally of 3 cases. How do I know? Well, because they come to beg my wife to lend them money to send to their daughters...Not even many young, fulltime working people, have that kind of money. So indeed, must be some high earning people who come up with this sums.Could be true in their families, expensive education, motorbike, mobils and so on.

I wish people would stop posting inaccurate information like this it not correct (for now) - there are breakthrough infections happening but boosters seem to negate that also, don't forget we are still very early in the evolution of this virus

Vaccines do not stop a virus entering the body (the absolute definition of infection)

They do prevent a person from developing COVID 19 (the disease) in the vast majority of cases and therefore help prevent spreading of the virus,

Please do some research before posting incorrect information

You can start here - it is a long video but well worth watching and pretty much covers everything there is to know about vaccines - SARS Corona 2 Virus and the COVID 19 disease it causes

Yes,a long video to watch. But well worth the time spent !!!! Also, one can shorten it by going to the subjects that interests one most. At my age,for instance,I am not interested in whether it has any impact on the ability to have children; I skipped that segment.

(ignoring the rest of the argument and sticking with the debate).

In simple terms, you are correct that someone who has had covid-19 will not require vaccination in the nearly future as their body already has antibodies, however, they may require a ‘vaccine boost’ as Neutralising antibodies are expected to decline over a period of time.

Those vaccinated also need a ‘booster’ as the Neutralising antibodies also decline over a period of time.

That said: Antibodies are not the sole factor in determining immunity; T Cell and B Cell also contribute towards immunity and this can last longer. Additionally, Immunity is induced differently by natural infection versus vaccination.

Then of course we have the issue of ‘variant strains’ where immunity to previous strains of SARS-CoV-2 may not be present for newer strains, or immunity may be partial, or immunity may be still be present.

There are too many variables - the common sense approach would seem to be that IF someone had Covid-19 a year ago it is likely (although not proven) that any immunity they had was to an older original variant and will have diminished. There is no *harm in receiving a booster vaccination or both vaccines doses.

    (*deliberately avoiding the anti-vaccination arguments)

Before this post,I have had some info from friendly people, that has been useful, thanks to them ! From this post,I have got everything I need to know,Thanks!!

There's a saying, "See the forest for the trees." Let me translate that for you...It means free yourself from the hysteria that has made you blabber this kind of mumbo-jumbo in the first place. My advice is calm down and google up some basic info. The fact that you professed looking for it on this forum makes me kind of wonder if that was your real motive.

I think you should "calm down" and try to understand what my post was about! It was NOT about trying to get the virus in order to create antibodies; I talked about the "hysteria" of people, almost falling over them selves to get vaccinated, instead of calming down and think first. My line of thoughts was the following: If you found out,by a test, that you ALREADY have the antibodies, why would you need to vaccinate to get them!? In stead of your "mubo-jumbo",tell me what is logically wrong with that idea.If you manage to do that,I will accept it,and even say "thankyou" And if you are able to see all "the trees in the forest",you should have seen in my post, that I also asked for a test that,in case I had antibodies, could show, that I was NO LONGER SICK,and therefore might be able to get a healthpass. Sorry if I offended you by putting this thoughts and questions on this forum!
