  1. Thanks Seedy but that's just a general link, with plenty of A-4's and other Audi's listed, no way to know which one you're looking at?

    You're welcome. At a guess - post above said 140k and I see a silver one for 139K - same ?

Yeah see that's the problem, maybe, maybe not, too much guess work.

  2. Schrader valve failure is common,

Are the valves on roadie pushbike tires / tubes also called schrader valves ??

    Yes. those are schrader valves.

I cannot for the life of me recall when the last one on any of my vehicles failed.... vaguely recall an issue about 20 years ago but that memory is a bit foggy.

Well it's every bit as common and even more so as any other joint in the system say an O-ring in the expansion valve joint for example only a Schrader valve actually gets used even more often so in that context it is common, you've been lucky I guess, good for you.. "Failure" also refers to loosening up and that is even more common for the valve insert to loosen up in it's seat.

  3. Isuzu/Chev have a Metal Tube like thing bout 3inches long 2inch dia ..Remove the Rad Grill, easy to spot and test for a leak with soapy water.Smearin Cold Cast stuff round the seams fixes it good.Cheap n Nasty looking thing it is too.thumbsup.gif

Ermm as Don has posted above not ALL leaks emanate from the condenser and some A/C parts like the evaporator and surrounding connections are very hard to examine well without one or doing a massive amount of work, also a sniffer will sniff out even traces even if the system has already bled out but soap and water will only indicate if it is still leaking. No external patch is going to hold back the pressure for very long, temporary fix at best.

  4. Again, so much nonsense, roads in other locations were not much better back when, when motor homes first came out and like everything else they evolved along with. I've traveled plenty of roads in Thailand that are plenty adequate for motor home and pulling over and parking plenty viable and safe. What wasn't safe was driving around unknown territory seeking out an acceptable hotel late at night and not an hourly rental with TV porn or nasty dirty rooms when pulling over in a safe, clean motor home would have been perfect and with children even better as I like to drive late while traffic is light and it's cooler and they could sleep while driving, if you do have mechanical trouble with the vehicle? Just pull over, go to sleep and deal with it in day light no need to panic about being stranded, Kids have to pee but you don't? They use the head and you keep driving, they want a snack and you don't or any other meal, wife makes it and they eat it, no need to stop, there's no equal to that kind of freedom anywhere, less stops is more safety not the other way around.

Anyway noticed yesterday that this thread was somehow resurrected from a year ago and then moved to this forum so it's all moot anyway since the Op hasn't been back since, probably was put off by all the unrealistic negativity posted.

  5. Coolant will leak where water will not....many of the radiator repair shops will tell you water only...chances are the sticker came from a radiator repair shop....

Wow! completely lost a post? So here goes again only differently worded.

Nonsense, don't know where you got that advice from, was that a Thai shop that didn't want to put coolant in your car so used that as an excuse because it cost more and he's used to Thai's not wanting to pay extra for it? Dye is added to coolant to indicate leaks (which maybe why you think it causes them since they are more easily located), it does not cause leaks in any way it is there to inhibit corrosion, and lubricate and doing both of those helps prevent leaks not cause them. Anyway I agree entirely with T/A's points on this, short term applications versus long term benefits in street applications there is no argument on whether or not water cools better or is necessary for good cooling or coolant/water combo cools better, just the need for it in daily drivers and the long term gains of using it.

  6. Oh, and the Race list for this year consists of Brainerd twice, Leguna Seca, Road America and Leduc. So one race in Canada and 4 in the USA for this year. Maybe more to come.

You can do a seat rental if you really want probably with one of the teams.

I've considered a seat rental, don't think I'd do it any other way as I don't want to build a car for that, but I always have reservations about renting as I'm always dubious about the safety of the cars prep etc., even in these you're still going fast enough to seriously injure or kill yourself or someone else and I don't skimp on prep like many other teams do even at higher levels let alone a series like this.. I like to drive with full focus and confidence in my equipment, can't do that with an arrive and drive unless I know the program really well.

  7. There are power-independent motorhomes in Thailand. Farangs drive them for sexual benefits. The further away you are from the 5-star beach hotels, the better the quality of your girlfriend.

Well that's another way of looking at it, at least it isn't mindless, negative, generalizations..

  8. 5.5 million baht is a ridiculous price...end of story end of dream.and even if you had people who would pay that price there are no facilities to cater for them.you just cant park them on the side of the road,it would be too dangerous.

So much generalized nonsense, not enough time..

  9. Idea is good. But country not ready for it. Practically no secured camp-sites.

Stopping in the boonies for the night and lighting a cozy camp-fire etc.? You will need 2 motorhomes. One for yourself and the other one to bring along your personal Body/Property guards.

    Cheers.

He didn't ask for critics.. coffee1.gif

no he did n't but he got them me included.

Yes, sadly enough. sad.png you'd think it was their money? facepalm.gif Nice for so many to speak for EVERY person in Thailand.

  10. 5 star hotels start at 5000Baht per night. 3000 Baht on credit card deals.

I'm struggling to think who that can afford 5.5 million baht want's to go camping in the boonies instead of staying in a hotel ? Or be seen driving that instead of their Mercedes. Yes some farangs may see an appeal but they are mostly broke, farangs that aren't are staying at decent hotels on the beach.

    5 star hotel 5000 baht * 2 nights * 5 times a year =50,000 Baht per year.

    5.5million baht = 110 years.

You could buy 10 or more houses bigger than that in the boonies and stay in them.

Yes probably many similar conversations surrounding things like cell phones when there was cheap phone booths everywhere you looked, it is very difficult for some to have vision, but hey the Op wasn't asking for yours or anyone else's view point or criticism, he was just asking for a potential working partner so why all of the negativity and unwarranted hostility? Some will just never GET it and no one needs or relies on those for buyers..

    Motorhome_01_1588278a.jpg

What about these? At some point the market was not looking for motor homes like this either but now? Certainly hotels in Europe are not so expensive as to see any savings in owning one of these at these prices? Wake up people.. Very rich people "camping" and traveling when very relative cheap hotels are available, who could have imagined? rolleyes.gifcoffee1.gif

  11. Schrader valve failure is common, The inserts are so cheap and easy to locate I replace them regardless, which is why I wish they had sniffers. I think I may see about getting one for my own use before returning could be a very handy tool. FYI the 400b places wanted to return for more refills or go for the expensive option which is why they never "noticed" your leaking valve.

  12. Idea is good. But country not ready for it. Practically no secured camp-sites.

Stopping in the boonies for the night and lighting a cozy camp-fire etc.? You will need 2 motorhomes. One for yourself and the other one to bring along your personal Body/Property guards.

Lots of the national parks have camping facilities.. seems quite a popular passtime with young kids and bike touring types.. Especially cold season up here in the north.

The thing with motorhomes here is, they solve a need that doesnt exist. Travelling in the west hotels are a expense, a motorhome allows longer term travelling on a budget, at a high initial outlay (as well as home comforts etc). Here there is an abundance of cheap hotel options, usually a few 100b in the boonies for a decent enough room to sleep in. It makes the initial outlay of a multi million baht motorhome a poor investment.

Add in the temps here, the need for airflow or AC, and I would think these easily become ovens ??

Again Livin, like I posted to the other gent that is not a widely shared opinion and really the OP didn't post to get a lot of negativity he has obviously given it some thought before his investment now he just needs a working partner presumably..

  14. Haha yes I suppose. 22+ million people in Austraia..... 68 million or so here.... only need small % buy

Sent from my GT-P5110 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

    Its about the destination...

Just not practical here, but have seen a few touring about and often wondered where they stay, how they power themselves up etc......cannot be fully self contained power wise.

Your opinion, why can't it be self contained power wise? Lots of people have been wrong about many business start ups and that's ok it comes natural for some but there is no way to be first to market if let everyone else take the lead. [but] at some point every business in the world was the first and received a lot of negative opinions on their way to big successes. Op sending you a PM, I've had many thoughts about this for years and have plenty of experience in fabricating and some thoughts on marketing as well.

  15. Chump car???? w00t.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifclap2.gif Ok well that confirms my impression then.. Why not the 24 hours of lemons? giggle.gifcoffee1.gif BTW You mentioned racing in Canada, not exactly known for over heating issues. I used to love it when I traveled up to the northern tracks like Toronto, Mosport, Watkins Glen, Road America in the middle of the summer and while the drivers were all sweating their back sides off and complaining how hot it was in 76 degrees and 70 percent humidity I was just chillin feeling like it was A/C being from Florida, kind of the same way with vehicles up north versus those in most of Thailand.

Chump car looks like a lot of fun and something I'd like to try some time given the lack of pressure but there's nothing close to serious racing going on there. Can't see any way whatsoever to purchase and build a reliable, safe car for the amounts allowed though, the competition has already creeped on the rules considerably.. Being full of mostly novices and drivers not taking it very seriously in spite of any thing at speed being very serious may quickly dampen my enthusiasm though.
