  1. the talarod site looks like theres some decent value, the translation thing will be a problem but theres certainly plenty of choice! thanks!

    right click the page, then translate to english. works ok in Chrome (not perfect)

    This....

  2. What a breath of fresh air On TV a man asks a question & someone responds with exactly what he wanted to know no bullshit & trolling comments thank you using the system as it should Be Well Done brilliant hope i have a question for you to repsond to another day

    J B-P

    It's a simple flat rate. You finance the vehicle at X years; the interest rate is Y years and you pay X*Y interest.

    To convert that to APR, find out how much your monthly payments will be. Let's go with a 1,000,000 over 2 years @ 3%. That's 60,000 baht interest paid. Added with the loan amount that's 1,060,000 divided up by 24 payments...44,167 baht month.

    c=(rP)/1-(1+r)-N

    r=1/12 interest rate

    P=principal

    N=number of payments

    44,167=(1/12r*1,000,000)/1-(1+1/12r)-24

    Or 5.66% APR.

    I took the liberty of whipping up a spreadsheet where you can adjust the parameters of the flat rate loan and it will spit out an equivalent APR. This of course assumes same monthly payments. But I believe that's what you are asking for.

    I'll leave the 'best choice' for others. I'm much more active in the motorcycle forum, but am good with math...so that's why I jumped on this thread.

    attachicon.gifflat rate to apr calculator.xls

    Actually that happens more often then you think. At least most of us here in the motoring forum try to do that as often as possible, but many posts are not so straight forward and require a lot of different info and opinions then just a math equation to come to an accurate final solution.

  3. Yes most definitely should have had the filters replaced at that service, you said it had this issue the day after the fluid was replaced? Has it happened again since? You may have already worked it out, as stated possibly needed to be primed in a sense under load working all the air out of the system.

    The problem existed for some time before I had the car serviced, so, the mechanic did not cause it.

    It had a standard 'kit' used (though I don't know exactly what the 'kit' consisted of).

    The brief 'shudder' happens on a daily basis before and after the service.

    'Air out of the system'?

    No idea if the filters were replaced, or not.

    Though, I'm fairly sure the system wasn't 'flushed'.

    What gets me is that after the first few minutes of driving the car is sweet as, sooooooooooo smooth.

    Shifts up and down with out issues, no jerking.

    The overdrive kicks in @ 80 klms/phr, kicks out a few k's below that (implying that the sensors are working correctly).

    Kicks down to a lower gear if asked to hurry along.

    Yes, when he removes the pan is one of those rare times when the system will bleed out and can get some air the system. Normally the intake for the fluid is submerged in the fluid in the pan and it never gets lower then the intake preventing bleed back along with, as KTM says, check valves forcing flow in one direction only, but when he removes the pan and the closed loop is opened allowing fluid to drain back and out then oft times you need to run it a bit before it removes all the air, but now I see you've updated to include it having issues prior to the service and it's a bit frustrating getting info after the fact.

    Maybe KTM is onto something in that there is a dirty or faulty check valve in the system allowing back flow while the car is off. Having not been serviced in so long and not used a lot as you say, it's more likely just to be dirty and or sticking somehow? I always fall into this trap. First off what year is this car? What make? Please provide more vehicle info.? Most modern cars have a diagnostic program that can tell you what the problem is, they get codes through the ECU.

  4. Buying a car with a credit card.....cheesy.gif

    Save up your money and pay cash, or buy a car you can afford now. Idiotic to do anything else.

    Rather rude and judgmental of you.. Op don't see any reason why not? If your credit is good and you have a very low interest rate it may even save you some money as the interest calculated on Thai loans is a bit strange, also you'd get a bonus points boost as well to your credit card. I read recently where a wealthy Chinese businessman just bought a 500 hundred year old Ming dynasty tea cup for 36 million dollars and paid with his American Express black card now he has enough bonus miles to fly around the planet a few times etc. though he had no consideration to that aspect of his purchase when he made it he discovered it later thumbsup.gif . Took 24 skims through the card reader though blink.png .

    It may have definite advantages.

  5. Again, where are you speaking of since every state has their own emissions standards. The Federal standards are a guideline for producing or importing new vehicles and don't necessarily apply to a single personal import not for immediate resale but for personal use. We're way off track here.. As for leaf blowers I just bought one the other day and have 2 weed eaters purchased within the last 2 years that are all 2 stroke.

  6. There's emissions control on a motorcycle? That's news to me? Probably to a lot of other folks too.

    Yup. Don't even try importing a 2 stroker, (or, in my case, 2 stroke engines). Ask me how I know that.

    I'm pretty sure different states have different emissions requirements, if you import into Ca for example it is going to be far more restrictive. There are plenty of 2 stroke engines here including scooters that have no emissions standards any different then any other country.

  7. I agree 3 to $5000 is not cheap, I feel I could get a first rate paint job as you described for that number. I just got my VW estimated the other day for $325 so there is a lot of distance between that and 3- $5000 for all the extra work, It's important to remember that a car that is already mostly torn down like a lot of classics would be is a lot less work then taking a newer car down to the chassis.

  8. Wouldn't you have to change it from right- to left-hand drive for a huge sum?

    No.... But all the rest posted here applies, the OP could get a much better equipped truck probably new or very nearly new for the resale value of that pick up back there not including the shipping etc. no sense to it all, nothing to be gained, plenty to be lost.

  9. Guess you never watch any of the recent classic refurbish shows then, they do it all day long for even less and then turn them to get top dollar at high end auctions. There is also a British based show called Wheel Dealers that does it all day long too.. It's good to be living in reality and not some reality removed, fantasy time line like some here do...

    No one is hiding behind any buttons either, just like this post there are several posts from me right in front of your face, just because you chose to ignore and post around them doesn't mean they're not there. Unlike some I'm not reluctant to man up and give my informed perspective or take the side of someone I know to be posting correct info over someone who is just trolling like yourself...

    FYI you're pretty hung up yourself and aggressive towards others always wanting to "prove" yourself or stalk through Pm's, well instead why don't you just get over yourself eh, isn't that the Christian thing to do?

  10. There is a lot of work involved in a quality paint job. The best are artists, not spray gun wavers.

    Preparation is the key. And takes a lot of time to do right.

    Quality paint is expensive.

    Color sanding very labor intensive. And you need to know what you are doing especially near edges / corners.

    Don't want to pay - fine. But $15k is the going rate in N America for high quality.

    Want crap - pay s--t.

    Settle for less - expect less.

    Can't agree with this, that number is a broad statement for the US, Ca maybe, not the entire US and not a single color job either maybe with a full color change and custom paint down to bare metal but not a mere quality respray, that can be done much cheaper and very high quality for between 3 and $5000.

  11. Hi All, do not know what the maximum size or weight of the item to be shipped by USPS, but on the supplier quoting me shipping cost's USPS is always the most expensive quote, maybe the supplier gets a piece of the cake with the others.

    Regards Tom

    I would say they have some reasoning like maybe a bit of extra work, or whatever like you suggested they may get bulk shipping rates with those other carriers as they use them more often, but I never got a more expensive quote from USPS then FEdEx, UPS or DHL.

  12. I want a show about cars that is fun , stupid stunts , super expensive cars , and a good laugh........

    Top Gear UK has all of that ,

    and Myth Busters is #2 with not as many cars smile.png

    Yes, but more explosions.. clap2.gif I'm more a king crab and gold rush sort of fan in the number 2 spot, I get frustrated with some of Mythbusters approaches to their myths, too many holes in the theories. BTW not to hijack but this season Mythbusters is going back to the original format with only Jamie and Adam the other busters have been ousted. I'm gonna miss Kari sad.png even though she had a sprog not so long ago she's still a nice looker with a sweet disposition.....

  13. Hi All, from time to time I have parts delivered from The States for my Jeep Wrangler, if they cannot send by USPS I find a company that will, because have found when shipped by USPS I have no tax to pay, DHL and FedX the tax is often equivalent or more than the cost of the parts and shipping cost.

    Although on the face of it USPS shipping costs are higher than the other two.

    Another alternative is to have the goods sent to a forwarding company, then sent on to you, or send to a friend you can then forward onto you.

    Regards Tom

    You indicate you are having vehicle parts sent by USPS. I assume they have a weight limit and a max dimensional size of the package ?

    Right...

    I shipped an automatic pool cleaner to Thailand not too long ago and UPS, FedEX, and DHL were astronomically priced in comparison to USPS so I have no idea what you're comparing to? They weren't even on the same planet with prices as much as $200-$300 more and actually almost twice as much as the product being shipped even cost. Even USPS was too high though, so I just broke the package down into two pieces as the packaging was a lot of wasted space and it shipped for much less and all arrived ok.

  15. Still just about the only thing worth watching on UK TV.

    Still can't believe some people after all these years don't realise Clarkson plays the clown and take his act seriously. People repeat his lines as fact. facepalm.gif

    He's good at masking his true idiocy that way. Has you stumped too, it works both ways innit? If you look stupid and people perceive it as an act? Easier to cover your true idiocy that way innit?

    Yep, changing the concept of top gear himself, keeping it going for years, spin off series in other countries, magazines, live shows, news paper columns which have made him a multi-millionaire. Yep complete idiot, just like that Simon Cowell. thumbsup.gif

    A lot of successful people if asked will tell you they know very little about many topics and even in some cases about the one that made them their big money and fame, they rely on others to keep them in the know and they handle the entertainment part of the successful venture. When he is in interviews outside of the show he seems very out of place and only refers to his attempts at being funny with a wise crack all the time, when it's unscripted he has difficulty with it and is obviously out of his comfort zone, especially on the topic of automobiles, he stumbles and fumbles with real answers and then changes the topic trying to make it funny instead, distraction tactics.
