  1. I admire Teslas for the technology and the fact they really changed the industry. I have ridden in a few as Ubers in Dubai and they are cool, but I find them pretty ugly and dumpy and not special. I am all for EVs and my next car will definitely be one, but Teslas just don't do it for me. Almost certainly I will go with an EX30 or one of the Chinese brands (depending on what's on the market in a year or so from now) - I don't think a Tesla will come in to the reckoning. Not sure why I felt the need to post that but there you go. ????
  2. Nice rant, but what on earth has the BBC got to do with this?
  3. I love an early morning grab.
  4. ....says the man who has repeatedly judged all Thais. You really have a massive chip on your shoulder.
  5. Yeah, it's kind of equidistant to both and really not that far. A 3-4 minute walk max, probably less - I haven't tried it, just been past it a few times. The station is pretty much directly connected to Paradise Place though (not Paradise Park) but I've never been in there so no idea if that is good or not. Hua Mark ARL couldn't really be anywhere other than where it is. It is about 200 metres to Srinakarin Road. If it was any closer it would jam up Srinakarin road as people got dropped off / picked up on the main road. Now people drive down the little street and there is a loop for dropping off and picking up. A lot of moo bans in the area have shuttle busses, lots of private vehicles doing the drop off / pick up. If all that was happening on the main road it would be a nightmare. Agree it is a bit sparse on the taxi front unless you walk to the main road. Plenty of motorbikes though. But I really don't see where else the station could have been. Also it remains to be seen if they will ever build a direct walkway between there and the Yellow Line. No sign of anything happening at the moment. Yeah, the green line connections are great. But mostly they didn't exist when it was first opened. Hopefully over time we get more of those on other lines as private businesses fund connections to their own locations (as happens on the green line I believe).
  6. Saw it parked outside Villa Thonglor (assuming this has to be the same one). Also a couple of days later I saw a beautiful Ferrari F40 drive down Thonglor, my favourite car of all time.
  7. Wow, that does look like a cool place.
  8. Yes, I know. They also fly to about 20 other destinations around the region where they don't own the airport.
  9. It's not a monopoly by any definition of the word. It doesn't only fly to Samui you know.
  10. Why? What is wrong in the criteria of the World Airline Awards?
  11. If applying in person you can't use cash. You don't need a UK card, they accept Thai credit and debit cards, you just fill out the details and submit with your application. Your card will be charged once the submission has made its way to the UK. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/190989/OS_Payment__Instruction_07.13.pdf I did it recently and they said 11 weeks. Finally I think it was about eight and a half weeks.
  12. ...just like my highly educated, independently wealthy, hi so girlfriend does.
  13. Wow, BritManToo is a lot younger than I expected!
  14. I agree with this. And his first story was that he bought bananas but couldn't find any monkeys so he demanded a refund! That is just appalling behaviour to be teaching a child.
  15. So you're saying that people haven't been killed by pitbulls and someone might have edited Wikipedia. Ok.
  16. Not in Bangkok. A couple of storms but no more than 45 minutes to an hour of rain. Pretty unusual this late in the season.
  17. When I saw the headline I thought, "Oh no, they're lessening the charges??", but phew, they are making them more severe.
  18. That does sound remarkably similar. Hopefully there's a similar solution.
  19. Yeah, I agree with your summation. Overall it is great, the trains are cool, nice views, good route and system. The bumpiness is not enough to stop you using it but, like you say, mildly annoying. I am not sure if that's normal for this type of train or whether the guide rails are not smooth enough. Hopefully someone in the know will know as I am curious.
  20. I've used it three times so far. Yesterday from Samrong to Hua Mak at 5pm it was packed. Still can't understand why it is so bumpy though. The two n00bs I brought with me yesterday also commented on how bumpy it was.
