Well you'd be wrong, again. I was the one who did the BOI application, I set up the company, I know exactly who the shareholders are and that we are in no way a partnership with any Thai company. Hmmm, now you state you have to follow BOI rules, well done for sneaking that in to weaken your stance. Yes, we do have BOI rules to follow but actually they are not restrictive - the BOI exist to encourage foreign investment. See, before you said this, so well done on softening your ludicrous stand: ....which is 100% untrue.

Completely and utterly wrong. I also work for a 100% fully foreign owned business here and it wasn't difficult to make happen. Tesco sold up as part of a global restructuring, nothing to do with employment quotas at all. How would employment quotas even affect a company as huge as that? You can imagine the board meeting: "We need to hire one more foreign executive in Thailand". "But how would we do that? We'd need to have at least four Thais working for us?".

I think it's pretty normal for the original manufacturer to investigate something of this nature.

My brother in UK is currently trying to rent a place for his daughter. Must prove income and it has to be a minimum of three times the price of the rent, proven with pay slips, letter from employer, bank statements. Also it is not possible to take it without a viewing as the owner needs to vet each potential renter, interview them, and then select the chosen one. It's pretty normal. An owner wants to know you are professional and responsible, you'll not fall behind with payments, you'll not do any dodgy in the property. If you find that pretty disgusting then you are going to struggle in the real world, sorry. Just answer the questions and rent the property if you want it. And would you trust your property to anyone of the street without knowing they can afford it and will take care of it?

Thai Airways takes off in new direction with operational shake-up
josephbloggs replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It's almost impossible. I have bought the most expensive flex tickets but no upgrades online. When I call them to ask they say my class of ticket is not eligible. I have tried so many flights that I have pretty much given up. I understand not letting super saver tickets upgrade, but the most expensive flex tickets? Still can't. Maybe as someone else suggested I should next time book another Star Alliance airline if they fly to the same destination and try that, but not many choices unless I am flying to Singapore, and then who cares about upgrading a two hour flight. I have hundreds of thousands of miles but can't use them. Tried flying to Japan - nope, not available on any date. UK, nope not on any date. I am not a Thai Airways basher, I generally like flying with them (regionally), but their Royal Orchid points program is really really poor. -
Electric Vehicles in Thailand

I'm with you there, ex30 is my first choice but Seal AWD is really interesting too - very similar performance figures, but I think the Volvo looks cooler. The MG4 seems a little slow but everyone says it is a lot of fun to drive so will give it a go as nothing to lose and I have an open mind. I do want speed and some luxury touches though so think the xe30 ticks most boxes. Spent a few days with an electric XC40, also a C40 and the performance is addictive. The xe30 takes it up a couple of notches - I know someone who has driven one and they say it is phenomenal. Switching to a 170bhp mg4 that is slower than my petrol XC40 doesn't sound appealing but JBChiangRai's review has made me at least consider trying it as it does sound like it's fun to drive and outright acceleration isn't everything (although for me it is a large percentage). I have no interest in Teslas. -
Car Crashes into Trailer, Driver Escapes but Succumbs to Flames
josephbloggs replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
It is still tragic. No-one deserves to burn to death in a car, must be an unimaginably horrific way to go. Stupidity or not it is still tragic and heart wrenching - it was someone’s young son. -
Thai Airways takes off in new direction with operational shake-up
josephbloggs replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Agree, have just come back from the UK on Emirates. Would never consider Thai for long haul as they are so far behind the middle eastern carriers. Poor IFE is a major factor. I like them as a regional carrier though. If I’m flying to Singapore, Manila, Malaysia, Jakarta or anywhere less than a four hour flight I will choose Thai. Usually new planes (A350, 787), decent service, decent food - better than most regional competitors. But long haul? No way. Not even a consideration. -

Nope, not ditching anything. Neither TG or Thai Smile fly 737s. They only have A320/321 in their narrow body fleet. If I’m flying short haul on any airline their aircraft type is a deal breaker. Airbus A320/1 or I find another airline. -

Electric Vehicles in Thailand

Yeah, but but but fake British heritage etc. Really interesting post, thank you. I have been waiting for the XE30 before making my choice to go electric but am now definitely going to try an MG4. I might book a test drive for next week and will report back. Can't wait to hear how the Cyberster is whenever you receive it. I am guessing you've put a deposit down without knowing the final price? Have they given any indication? -
Righty ho. So in previous threads where you bang on about MG "stealing heritage" and I pointed out my Volvo has a Swedish flag stitched in to the seat and they play on Swedish minimalist design language, you didn't seem to have the same hatred. Oh, but Volvos are designed in Sweden maybe? Where are MGs designed? Then I pointed out Minis have union jacks on their taillights, you can specify them on the wing mirrors or roof, they play up on the British heritage massively even though they are German. But no, that's not an issue for you. Rolls Royce are quintessentially British in all their heritage and positioning. But they are German too. As are Bentley. As it seems you only have a problem with the Chinese brand playing on the Western heritage of their marque but don't mind when European brands do it it leads me to draw my own conclusions, sorry if you don't like that. You really are the worst broken record on this entire forum and I have no idea what motivates you (well I do, but I don't need to say it again).

I think "CH JNK" is supposed to stand for "Chinese Junk" which is an oh so hilarious really poor Photoshop job undoubtedly made by an anti-China racist or rabidly pro-US right winger (same thing really). Definitely done by someone with no independent judgement or first hand experience anyway. Maybe transam himself?

I started a thread to review a wood fired pizza oven I bought. It could become a home made pizza thread I suppose. I've since refined things and now only use buffalo mozeralla which takes it up a level. Going to fire it up at the weekend as just got back from the UK with another 20kg of oak chips.

More double-track railways to open this year
josephbloggs replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Why? 120kph is nothing special on metre gauge. Even in Thailand the red line does 160kmh on metre gauge, Elsewhere around the world 130, 140, 160 is common. I am no fan of metre gauge and think any new line should be standard gauge - I have no idea why the red lines are metre gauge as they are electric and were built from scratch - but these are upgrades to existing lines so metre gauge it has to be to maintain compatibility. If built properly with good signaling then 120kmh shouldn't be a problem. -
Of course you wouldn't, Thais are all out to get you, boo hoo. Your posts are full of anti-Thai paranoid nonsense. Sad isn't it? So how many things have you had stolen out of hotel rooms over the years? I'm gathering it must be a lot. Please do tell us the details.

Emirates A380 business is 1-2-1 with tons of privacy (especially in A or K seats). Emirates 777 is generally 2-3-2 which is very poor for business class as you don't have direct aisle access. Their newest 777s are 1-2-1 in business too but these are pretty rare and don't fly from here. Just flew back from the UK today on Emirates - unfortunately in economy as with the whole family - and we had a 777 from Stanstead (it was significantly cheaper than Gatwick or Heathrow) and A380 from Dubai. In economy there isn't much difference although the A380 is a better / smoother / quieter plane. But in business there is a huge difference. Also nobody has mentioned the bar on the A380 which is a brilliant place to spend time. If I am flying business it is A380 or nothing. Amazingly there were maybe 60 people on the flight so it was a huge empty A380 and we could all pick a row to sleep on. After Covid when Emirates were asking 170-180k for business return to the UK I went instead with Oman on their 787-800 and 787-900. A better seat and cabin then Emirates, better food (I don't particularly rate Emirates' business class food) but the service not as good as Emirates, but worth considering as it was good value and had a similar layover time but they only fly to Heathrow I think.

Electric Vehicles in Thailand

It makes you wonder about the agenda of people who post these anti China fake videos. Are they just racists? Or Americans upset about the rise of China and Chinese industry? Or something else? -
There is nothing in the article to suggest the surgery was "botched". He shattered his femur in many places and now he lives with the consequences - the surgeons saved his leg. The headline is misleading and should be amended: Man left with one leg shorter than the other after a motorbike crash left his leg shattered and Thai surgeons fixed it.
