I don't understand the concept behind the Kicks. Pouring petrol in to combust and power batteries. Why not just put electrcity in?

I get the refueling, but if that is an issue why not just buy a petrol car or a PHEV? I don't get what problem the Kicks is supposed to solve.

How incredibly blinkered and stupid this comment is.

Do you see how easily those can be interchanged? Childish name calling, nothing more, nothing less.

Why is the left all the sudden concerned about Qatar? What about all the money they spend (over a billion) in our universities and all their lobbyists?

The lefts hates Israel and does Qatar. The left loved Qatar when they support Hamas and promote protests at American universities, now all the sudden they’re terrorist.

You would of course have a link or some evidence to support this claim?

Where do you dream this stuff up from?

I was thinking the same thing, and then I took a closer look at him. You should too. Have a look at his ankles and shins, Swollen and the purple discolouration. Look at his hand skin tone,  pale.  The man is in poor medical condition. I would not be surprised if he is diabetic with kidney disease and/or  heart disease.  In this case, I think he does need the wheelchair. He is only 71, but looks like 81+.

You are correct. In this case the wheelchair in genuine. I saw him about three months ago in Villa market and he was being pushed around in a wheelchair then.

My extension renewal is due 10th July each year.

Until that date I have permission of stay regardless of how prior in advance my next application is submitted.

The 30-day consideration period is always dated from the date of the expiry date of my extension.

Regardless of the return date, my Immigration office phone me as soon as it's approved, which is usually before my existing extension has expired.

    Ext1.jpg.c3a8008c182d9482a344663a65b3bec1.jpg

From these stamps you'll note I submitted my application 2nd June, 38 days prior to my extension expiring, and given an under consideration stamp until 9th August, 30 days after my extension expiry date. I was then advised on 15th June my application had been approved and returned for the new extension stamp on 17th June. Only some 15 days after I'd submitted my application and 23 days before my existing extension expired.

Last year I submitted my application much later than usual on 18th June.
I received a call on 5th July notifying my extension had been approved.

I attended 9th July for my new extension stamp

You currently have permission of stay until 2nd July and a multi re-entry permit, so re-entering on 28th June you will be stamped in until 2nd July.

Why don't you submit your 1-year extension application at the same time?

I usually apply 45 days early, but my under consideration stamp is always dated from the expiry date of my current extension to 30 days after.
However, it is usually approved before my current extension expires.

Ensure you advise CW of your planned trips and hopefully your extension application will be approved and can be collected on Monday 30th June.
You'll need to obtain a new re-entry permit to cover your new extension period.

Actually that's a good idea to do it at the same time, but unfortunately I can't as we have kids in school who'll need picking up unless we get super lucky with the queue.

    It's not simple seeking advice.

Doubt the io doing your COR can assist.

Cutting to basics, what you really want to know is will there be home visit during under consideration period.

The head io in the extension L desks could assist.

She sits at the rear of (think) L34.

BTW: if you made an appointment for the COR make sure you print out your appointment (hard copy)

You go to far right desk for #.

    You are seen straight away.

    Great, thank you.

Personally, that's just maybe my 'too-proactive' approach to things Immigration here. Do what you can the earliest you can.

However, for you in your case, if you do your extension on June 16, 17, 18, or even Monday the 21st which is a few days prior to start of your first trip, you will surely be back at the conclusion of your second trip ahead of the last day of the 30, or what ever number of days it turns out be, under consideration.

But make sure about the need or not for a new re-entry permit for that first trip, or whether you will being able to use your existing one for it. And you will surely need a fresh re-entry permit for that second trip during the under consideration period.

Factoring that issue, that's why I'd favor getting the new extension and new re-entry in the fold before departing on the second trip...which means going out to CW May 29 or 30 for the extension.

Please do report back what happens!

Thank you, and yes I will report back.

The technology is there to make buildings that are more or less earthquake proof. The question whether the Thai authorities can make it happen.  Can they set building standards and see that they're enforced?

Well apart from the dodgy one still under construction that collapsed, all buildings were earthquake proof.

There's a great video of a structural engineer explaining earthquake resistance and how no building can be said to be earthquake proof, but they can be earthquake resistant. He said they are designed to not collapse and to keep people safe, and likened it to a car. If you have a big car crash, your car gets crumpled but you remain safe and walk away, then the car design has done its job - no one expects to have a car crash and not see damage, as long as the occupant is safe it has done its job. In most cases it can be repaired, in severe cases written off. But no one died. Same as buildings - if there is an earthquake but people remain safe the building may have some damage that can be repaired, it may have damage that can't be, but it kept the occupants safe.

Someone posted the video on here but I can't find it - it was interesting and enlightening.

You are in a situation here now where you just gotta bite the bullet and deal with not having an appointment. Dr Jack has long-standing good advice for doing extensions at CW without appointments. Just get there before they close for lunch, get your que number(s), take care of other biz during the break and go back in after they open up for the afternoon. You will get your stuff done.

Thanks Rwilem. And yeah, I guess I just resign myself to spending a few hours there without an appointment. But good tip on timing, I'll do that.

    Quote

I would assume so, yes. But if you go on May 29 or 30 for the extension you should get under consideration for 30 days. OK, even if goes to July 2 (your current expiry) you will be here. Both of those, or either of those I should say, will work for, you will be here. Confirm with the IO while you are doing the extension, and confirm about travel out, whether your current re-entry will remain valid, etc.

Yeah, it's a tad stressful, I get it. Which is why getting the extension out of the way earlier, before you take the second trip, might be the most prudent approach.

Yeah, if doing it without an appointment then 29th or 30th makes sense or maybe just do it later in June before my first trip. I just generally don't like cutting it too fine but as you say I can always come back in the next 1-2 days if anything else was needed.

    Appreciate the input.

And I will reply back here afterwards - I hate it when people don't: the more info people share the better people can be advised in the future and we all benefit from that.

    That was my guess.

As pointed out earlier by @rwilem you have flexible choices given no need to be in Thailand during under consideration period.

Whatever you opt for be aware you require a reentry permit for period you exit Thailand.

The under consideration period at CW generally a month. True can be less.

    Discuss with immigration.

    Thanks Jack, appreciate the help.

I will discuss with them during the application and will report back in the hope it can others in future.

Actually just remembered I will be there on Wednesday to get a CoR. Who could I discuss this with if I wanted to ask for advice? I am assuming not the CoR counter, but would the people at the initial reception be able to advise? Or is there someone else you can approach for general advice? I guess the initial reception but you can feel they are angsty when people take up their time as there are always queues behind.

OK, you are dealing with CW.

You can apply for extension up to 45 days in advance there.

From a post in another thread.

"CW starts the under consideration period from the day you apply. If you apply 45 days early you would have have your new extension done,

FYI you can get a re-entry permit for the under consideration period."

    •

So in theory, if you go in and do your extension on May 29 or 30, you should be OK returning for final approval 30 days later, just after you have gotten back from the first trip.

You will need to acquire a fresh re-entry permit for that first trip you would be taking during the under consideration period.

Hopefully others with experience with doing their marriage extensions and travel during the under consideration period can offer their knowledge.

Thank you. So to do it 45 days early I would have to go soon but have to resign myself to a lot of waiting as online queue is not available until 12th June at the earliest. But that's ok if that's what I need to do. A day out at CW is always a joy.

I have a multi reentry permit now, so if I get an under consideration that takes me beyond 2nd July (my current expiry) would I need to get a fresh one?

And is the under consideration period always 30 days? Or does it vary? If it was always 30day that would make it easy to plan, but from your other post it seems it can vary, so this is my concern.

My main concern is if the date to come back after under consideration falls when I am away.
