advancebooking - It's peer to peer. You don't deposit anything as such. What you are in essence doing if buying crypto, is sending Baht directly to the sellers nominated bank. If someone is buying crypto from you, they would send Baht directly to your nominated bank. Binance are just acting as the middle man and hold the funds [both crypto and fiat] in escrow until time to exchange. I have never used it but I know how it works.

You are talking P2P. We are talking being able to deposit and withdraw to an exchange using Baht directly to and from your Thai bank. That isn't possible with the 'Old Binance' only with P2P. However after saying that there is now a 'New Binance' which is called Gulf Binance or Binance Thailand. They have a temp hold on signing up new non-Thai users but I believe that will be lifted soon.

Thai people and their smartphones - your take?
Conno replied to henrik2000's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I agree up to a point. Just as a hammer can build a house, it can also be used as a weapon. Smart phones are a brilliant technological advancement I'm no luddite, in fact I'm a Crypto Knight ;-) So embrace and welcome change with open arms. I think the point of the OP was that anything can be abused and have negative consequences if the user loses touch with what's really important in life. This does seems to be happening in the many areas of change you mentioned. Change for change sake doesn't always mean it's a positive change. -

Cant speak for other countries as I've been here for years, but Thais have it bad that's for sure. Often see groups [seems to be mostly females but not exclusively so] sitting at restaurant tables for example, none of them are talking to each other. All of them are glued to their screens. I mean might as well just get a takeaway and stay at home. Maybe I'm just an old git but this doesn't look anything like a good way to behave. Looks like an addiction to me.- 61 replies

Looking back, the 20 year Elite PE Visa at 1M baht was the best move one could have made considering all the problems I read about with other visa options for long term stays. I also received this email and my first impression was it's a complete waste of money. My second impression is given the recent [up to 400%] price hikes, plus the new tax changes that kicked in 1st Jan, they might not be getting as much business and earning the same income they once were. Doubt this gimmick is going to change any of that. Get a concession from the powers that be and make the new Privilege Visas tax exempt for overseas income [same same LTR Visa] and they might start attracting customers again.

Yes I was told a Thai driving license would also be acceptable [by email] but I don't have one of those so used my UK one. I don't drive here, got out of the habit as my other half does all the driving. -

There weren't many alternatives I'm sorry to say. A resident permit was one of the other options. You could try getting hold of one of those? Don't ask me how as I have never held one, but maybe something you could enquire about at immigration the next time you visit? Please send one of the following documents : Household registration (Yellow house book -- Thor.Ror. 13) with a 13-digit identification number Work permit issued by the Thai government Non-Immigrant visa or Smart Visa And one of the following documents : ID issued by the governmental authority of the customer's country e.g. an identification card, a driving license ID via SWIFT authentication or notarized ID Employment certification together with the ID card or a company affidavit of the employer (for those who work in Thailand) Resident permit in Thailand Educational certificate issued by an education institution in Thailand -

It's an investment strategy to reach your financial targets / goals. Avoiding bad timing which is virtually impossible to predict and get right. I don't mean literally never sell as in 'never sell' as I agree then what would be the point. But hey why am I explaining myself in detail? My money and my bin if that is what I wanted to do, which in reality it isn't, but hey whatever.

Actually it would be worth even less than $0.75 in purchasing power as inflation is eroding that fiat trash day by day. So learn a lesson then, don't trade it, don't try and time tops and bottoms, ride the volatility, just Dollar cost average in and never sell. Easy. It's going to a million per coin, just a matter of when not if. 5 years? 10 years? Your guess is as good as mine but scarcity says that is where it is heading.

Neeranam - Hope he did, but probably didn't, just like the vast majority of no-coin haters on here. Oh boy if they only understood what's coming, never mind what it has already done. Bitcoin is the best performing asset IN ALL OF HUMAN HISTORY since its creation 14 years ago. Let that sink in for a moment. I missed the beginning but my lightbulb moment happened in 2018 and my lowest entry was $4000. Been accumulating ever since, never sold a single Sat. Check out this chart. $1 into Gold 14 years ago would be worth $1.94 today. I like Gold and hold too, but it is a relic from the none digital age. $1 into BTC 14 years ago would be worth $38,506,100.00

The old traditionally banking system is broken [Debt] and slowly but surely they are corralling and conditioning everyone into the mindset of accepting the new CBDC slave coins that are on the horizon. lf you view everything that happens with your regular bank through this lens, then it is clear as the nose on your face what is going on. They will never jump from system A to system Z in one leap as everyone would cry foul. So they go from A to Z in incremental steps. Fortunately I will have more than likely already popped off before Thailand becomes a cashless society, but this trend is clear in the richer nations already. My advice would be oppose anything CBDC related with every inch of your soul when you encounter them. At least for your kids and grandkids sake, if not for your own. Yea I know sounds like a conspiracy theory, but funny how those so called conspiracy theories are actually becoming conspiracy facts with the passage of time.

This 7% tax they are talking about as far as I understand isn't directed towards individuals but the exchanges and businesses in the digital arena. After saying that, I agree with your general sentiment. One word that always strikes me as being appropriate as far as Thailand's approach to crypto and the digital world in general is schizophrenic. They want to be seen embracing it as a progressive country but at the same time are terrified of losing control over the old broken fiat system. In their defense, they are not the only country in the world with this syndrome.

A driving license from your home country will work. https://aseannow.com/topic/1311267-bitkub-is-asking-for-kyc-again-after-logging-in-kyc-is-disabled-for-foreigners/page/4/ -
I started out using my PC until I got to the take/upload images/files part which is when I hit a snag as I don't have a cam attached. I then remembered advancebooking had highlighted this on another thread but I'd forgotten about it. So I then started over on my iPad as I hate using my iPhone these days as I'm no spring chicken and the screen is too small. Had a few back and forth emails with their support which were fast in reply, but details were a bit thin. Just one line answers and felt almost like AI rather than a human but I think it was a human. On the ID thing. I sent them an email pointing out that UK citizens don't have a national ID card, we only have passports and driving licenses if we drive. The reply was a one line reply of 'upload UK ID and/or Thai driving license if not expired and you have one with Thai Elite visa'. I interpreted that as meaning if you had used Thai Elite service agents to obtain one? Anyway, using my iPad and their app I uploaded my UK license and my Thai Elite related stamps and received a Lvl 2 approval within the hour. I also remember advancebooking pointing out a step where they asked him to scan the chip in his passport using his phone. I never encountered that step which is fortunate as I don't think that is even possible using an iPad? Maybe that will be a requirement at some later stage eg Lvl 4? I did reply to you last night but aseannow went into maintenance mode right when I was typing and I lost everything I typed arrrrrr, then I went to bed. Just before I went to bed I completed the next steps after Lvl 2 approval which were creating I think it was called a withdrawal password [forget the exact name] and activating 2FA security. I then went on to Lvl 3 steps which were bank details. Good news is this morning there was an email in my inbox informing me Lvl 3 verification has been approved, so I'll move on to Lvl 4 probs next week which I think involves uploading 3 months worth of statements etc.

I have had multi failed submissions so far, been on it all afternoon what a complete ball ache all of this is. Firstly it was telling me incorrect image size, blurred, reflection etc so resubmitted. Then it was the UK ID card thing which as you say we don't have one. Told them we are issued with passports only, so they replied UK or Thai driving license. Don't have a Thai driving license as my other half does all the driving these days and I've just got used to that routine. So submitted my UK one and now waiting to see if they will accept that. Other stuff like Yellow book for my apartment don't have one of those either. Have some Blue Book thing and Chanote so submitted those along with utility bills showing my address. Never had a residency permit also, what is one of those anyway?. Thought paying an arm and a leg for a 20 year Elite would be all you'd ever needed to do. They have been replying pretty quickly so expecting another rejection any minute lol. Haven't even got to the Bank verification bit yet...... Jeeeze Louise! Signs of the time in 2024 I'm afraid, the financial noose just keeps getting tighter and tighter for the average Joe. Can you imagine this scenario. Bitcoin goes ballistic in the next few years and we could be the only millionaires on the planet who can't spend any of it because we are farangs living permanently in Thailand. In fact that potentially could become a reality rather than a joke so I shouldn't jest. Update 30 minutes later - Lvl 2 approved moving on to the bank Lvl 3 stuff now.
