  1. Edit typo 'The more powerful 1st would countries' 1st world. I'm sure you could open a Bitkub account too [if you love stress that is ha ha ha] My advice on how to handle the volatility after your penny drop moment is to have an ultimate goal and stick to it. Don't jump in and out trying to time tops and bottoms as you are more than likely to end up with less. As I said earlier my moment happened in 2018 and those 6 years have flown by. 2030 could be your 6 year stretch with a similar result. I'm convinced given enough time you won't regret it and I can guarantee not getting involved in 2024 after your eureka moment and it hits $1m you would lol. Welcome to the club and good luck.
  2. Just for you...... It all depends on your time horizon, If you can take the short term risks, don't need the funds invested and can handle the notion of it going to zero [just to keep the FUDDERS happy] then you are still early. Personally speaking and not financial advice as the saying goes, if after you have considered the above and can sit back and wait, then just disregard the no-coiner bashings we all get here constantly. Ask yourself are they even going to be around in 2030 to admit they were wrong? If they are right, then if you accepted the risks it's a case of so what. Your life, your money, your choice. Then ask yourself what if Ark invest Cathy Woods is right along with Standard Chartered, BlackRock, Mastercard, JB Morgan, Fidelity on and on and on. Things are a changing in the Bitcoin and Crypto scene, the worlds legacy fiat financial system is in big trouble, ask the residents of Lebanon or Nigeria or Argentina or Turkey or or or. The more powerful 1st would countries are not immune from currency devaluation either. Up to you, as they say around these parts. https://news.todayq.com/ark-invests-cathie-wood-considers-3-5-million-target-for-bitcoin/
  3. I'm way older than 37 but love hardcore electronic dance music. Not sure if the love of the music has anything to do with age right? Have a long term partner too so not looking for any new horizontal action but do still enjoy looking. Are you ever too old to enjoy looking also?
  4. Last time I went to Lucifer [Jan and a week night] it was as you say dead [soulless maybe ;-)] Must have been less than 100 people at 01:00 and it was absolutely freezing. The staff were all arms folded teeth chattering posture lol. You would have thought it would have been Hot as Hell in there but more like the Arctic 5555. Republic seems to stay busy though especially at the W/E and haven't been to Myst in years. Has the old Marine renovation finished? as haven't been to Walking Street recently. Last time I was there I heard it was going to reopen as yet another Indian club. Real shame for me personally as I'm into Techno and Trance EDM and that used to be the only hardcore club in Pattaya that played that genre. The Warehouse [Buakhao] used to play sort of EDM with house and occasionally had a Trance night but it shut down late last year. Not into Hip Hop or this generic electro pop stuff that seems to be popular or Bollywood vibes either lol. If you know of a Techno venue in Pats would be interested to know. Another thing I have noticed regarding Pattaya night clubs is that they very very rarely have any visiting international DJ nights. Bangkok seems to have them all the time as I get email notifications from the likes of TicketMelon events agent website weekly.
  5. It would be a limit buy order set at $10,000 or $5000 BTC spot price, there would be no stop loss set? It would only trigger and buy if a flash hit your limit buy price. The price would then reset back to the normal market price of $73k in your example and you would have acquired a very cheap bag of Satoshis at whatever $ value you had placed on the limit buy order. People have done this and walked away with nice little earners.
  6. There is always another way to play exchange flash crash dangers, if you are into trading that is. Have a limit buy order in for $10,000 and $5000 BTC price. You could end up with a very nice and cheap top up lol.
  7. You are 100% correct. Listen to just about anything from Michael Saylor and he makes the exact same points about the dangers of being gradually fleeced of any wealth you may have due to inflation. Considering you have left the no-coiners Bitcoin is a Ponzi scam club [or are about to at least] I'll add it always makes me laugh when the no-coiners get all high and mighty on the dangers of Bitcoin, while getting raped every single day holding their beloved Fiat paper trash. Yea there are risks being in a new asset class that's only about 15 years young but it is worth it in my opinion. I hold both gold and silver too which have always been my inflation hedge after witnessing the 2008 crisis. Until my Bitcoin lightbulb moment of course, now I feel we have a 3rd and better option.
  8. Welcome to the 'Lightbulb Moment' club. Mine went on in 2018 and I felt the exact same sentiments as you back then. I bought in at $12k then it went down to $4k and I bought more. Then it went back to $12k and then $20K and I bought more. Then hit $69K before dropping back all the way down to $16k and I bought more. Now it's back near the all time highs again. Moral of the story Maybe a bit late in the short term but not in the longer term. You are still early.
  9. You may not like UpBits UI and I agree Bitkubs is better but you also hate using Bitkub as they are masters of frustration inducing stress, so what's your options then? Beggars can't be choosers and therefore it comes down to the lesser of two evils. There isn't many other alternatives if you want to use the Baht. Even the new Binance Thailand seems to be giving farangs problems too. Bottom line is the powers that be hate crypto. Gives the honest ordinary person too much sovereignty over their own wealth management. We will win in the end but it is going to be a long dirty and bitter fight.
  10. I'm a HODLer, I'm happy with 70%/80% cycle swings as have been into crypto since 2018. Gambler? Depends on if you consider crypto an overall gamble or not. It is speculative for sure but It's becoming less so as institutional investors become more and more interested and involved. I don't trade it as I said I'm a buy and forget HODLer. What coins do I hold in cold storage? Bitcoin naturally, other coins well that's personal, but I like several. Why do you ask that specifically?
  11. Maybe we are lacking some details from the OP. He did say 'I will be leaving Thailand'. Will that be for a month, for 5 years, forever? I got the impression not for a short break. He needs to way up the risk reward of the counterparty risk compared with mismanaging his keys. Personally speaking it is a no brainer, but I get it that not everyone is the same. Crypto for many still isn't seen as super user friendly but self custody is the holy grail for me. Yes you are correct, you are well and truly stuffed if you forget how to access a cold storage wallet.......so don't. The way I look at that is you can also kill yourself if you drink and drive, so don't. There are ways to safeguard your seed phrases such as a cryptosteel and/or storing the seed in several different secure places etc. Like everything in life there are pros and cons but getting his coins off Bitkub and under his own control is the solution and priority in my view. I'm also not sure if they would still allow you to withdraw your cash and crypto well past a KYC expiry. Knowing how they operate they are a difficult enough company to deal with at the best of times and your account is approved, let alone with expired visas and no longer living here. Same with regards his Thai bank, I hear so many reports that operating them from overseas can also result in access suspension. Why take the risk would be the best safeguards he is looking for.
  12. JBChaingRai - Did a bit of digging for myself. Are these not the 'Investment Tokens' they are referring to? Nothing to do with regular crypto. https://cointelegraph.com/news/thailand-eases-restrictions-infrastructure-backed-digital-tokens https://www.legal500.com/developments/thought-leadership/thailands-exemption-of-cit-and-vat-on-transfer-of-digital-investment-token/
  13. Why wait? I never keep a single Satang or a single Sat on an exchange. Get it all off now. Are you new to crypto? Unless you are trading crypto on a regular basis there is zero reason to leave it on a centralised exchange. Not your keys not your coins right? The whole point why crypto came about was to remove the dangers of counterparty risk, self custody in other words. This is the reason I ask if you are new to crypto, as someone who has a deeper understanding of the asset class would never really ask these questions. Not knocking you but you are asking questions related to counterparty risk. Get your crypto off and into a cold storage wallet, after which you don't even need to ask the questions you have asked. Same goes for your currency better in the bank than on the exchange. If you are nervous about self custody don't be, it's super easy. If you have already taken the leap into crypto then learning how to use a Trezor or Ledger will be a doddle. Don't wait for Bitkub to give you a headache.
  14. OK so here's a very hypothetical 'WEN LAMBO' scenario in an attempt to help clarify things. Mr Lambo many moons ago bought a whole Bitcoin when it was $1000 [36,000 Baht] per coin. Being the HODLer type and firm in his belief that BTC was one day going to hit $1m [36,000,000 Baht] per coin, he declared his devotion and became a Bitcoin Maxi refusing to sell a single SAT. In 2030 Mr Lambos dream became a reality and the Bitcoin he bought all those years ago was now sitting at an amazing $1m [36,000,000 Baht] What would his options be? [Apart from moving to Dubai] A/ Sell his BTC for $1m - 36,000,000 Baht with a net gain of $999,000 - 35,964,000 Baht and file a tax return under the 35% PIT system [paying roughly 12,000,000 Baht in tax according to my back of a fag packet calculation] or B/ Move to Dubai.....sorry or B/ Go for the 15% CGT route in which case the tax would only be around 5,394,600 Baht. [See my point that's why the option to choose one or the other can't be correct. I think it is the tiered PIT calculation and no other.] All hypothetical of course, sort of. PS. Yes I am waiting for $1m+ Bitcoin so just need to live long enough. Smart or delusional? Thrilling ride into 'LAMBO HEAVEN' or a disappointing reality check that it was all an unrealistic dream. Not asking for advice or comment on the plan by the way, but I'll get some for sure knowing how Asiannow no-coiners love to have a dig. Just trying to understand what the best options would be? [Move to Dubai] I've already hoisted my colours to the mast. Glory or Death.
  15. You sure about this? Are Investment tokens really 'any kind of crypto'? This announcement appears to me to be related to a very specific type of local digital asset i.e. investment tokens. So who is the 'issuer' of Bitcoin and ETH for example? Satoshi and Vitalik ;-) If what you are saying is correct then why would anyone sell crypto and pay up to 35% under PIT rather than just decide on the 15% CGT route? That's a huge saving in tax if true? Can't see it somehow? I have never sold anything and am a 100% HODLer so can't say from personal experience. As I said I believe this policy change is related to a very specific type of Thai digital token, something used to encourage fund raising within Thailand as the linked report mentions. I really don't believe this has anything to do with regular crypto coins. Willing to be corrected if you can enlighten me more. I suppose what needs clarifying here is the definition of an investment token from a Thailand perspective. Apart from individuals, the Thai government also introduced tax breaks for investment token issuers. On March 7, the government announced that corporate income tax and value-added tax (VAT) for investment token issuers had been waived. https://cointelegraph.com/news/thailand-tax-exemption-token-earnings According to this link there is no option of choosing between up to 35% PIT and 15% CGT. Everything sold in Thailand is subject to the tiered PIT calculations. Again willing to be corrected if you can provide the info. 16. Oh brother nothing has changed with them it seems. In fact they sound worse. I don't even have the app on my phone as not a fan of phone apps with any financial product. Just seems like a breach or hack or scam waiting to happen. Keep us updated. Sign up with UpBit once you get your funds out of the loonies grasp. They really are the most incompetent crypto related org I have ever encountered.
  17. Well you have it all sorted then, congrats you can jump back on ya sofa now all contented like. Did I say they were built by Aliens? Nope.
  18. Take a look at this picture. How far out would those sand/earth ramps have needed to be to facilitate a reasonable incline angle where manual labor slaves would have had even a chance of hauling tonnage weight blocks up them? If made of earth or sand the weight would have been as great if not greater then the pyramids they were constructing. Would a sand/ earth ramp of such scale even be possible without collapsing in on itself? Therefore it would need to be built from a material that was very similar to the pyramids themselves. Then you have to ask, what happened to all the material that was used to build these ramps after they were finished? I'm familiar with the stepped ramp theory also and the internal one, they all seem to be clutching at straws in my book. Easy to just say ramps and slaves then sit back on the sofa feeling it's all solved. Bit more of a tricky issue to answer than that I feel. Bottom line is nobody has a clue how they were built and for what purpose. The mystery is more than half of what makes them so spectacular in the first place.
  19. Would be interested in watching the documentary related to your friends research as I'm very unlikely to actually buy the book. If you can find it again of course.
  20. Hope the moderators don't feel talking about Giza is too far off topic? The title of the thread is 'Where we might find aliens in the next decade' after all. My answer to that is most likely in our own back yard, however difficult to contemplate that may seems to normies lol.
