some interesting stats about charging stations: https://www.iea.org/reports/global-ev-outlook-2024/trends-in-electric-vehicle-charging thailand has 64 public charging stations (2023) per electric vehicle. compared to other countries, this number isn't very high. however, it seems that most ev owners charge at home, as wait times at some popular charging stations usually only happen during holidays. i'm not sure if the charging stations at mg, gwm, volvo, byd, tesla etc., are included in this statistic because i wouldn't call them "real public" charging stations, because they are not open to all bev!

a cell to body car battery will be recycled as well, so why do you think it won't be cost effective? if you google it by yourself (it is not too difficult), the subject is quite easy to follow!

for our fruit trader: " .... companies specialize in giving a second life to car batteries, often referred to as "second-life" or "repurposed" batteries. these companies take used electric vehicle (ev) batteries and repurpose them for various applications, such as energy storage systems, backup power, and renewable energy integration ...."

yes, you're right... i'm personally also interested in the changes to the interior, which might be similar to the new byd sealion 07. "Underneath the Seal 07 EV is the new e-platform 3.0 Evo which has 800V architecture giving improved charging efficiency and the car will support 240 kW fast charging. The e-platform 3.0 Evo debuted in May with the Sea Lion 07. Highlights include a 12-in-1 electric drive system." new byd sealion 07 interior:

Thai Tax on UK pensions
motdaeng replied to Humpy's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
why don't you uk guys just ask your british embassy in bangkok for clarification? i'm sure they'll be very helpful ... (sorry, i couldn't resist) -
just my humple opinion: if you often drive long day-trips, charging at up to 22 kw makes sense. otherwise, charging your car at 7 kw overnight in 8 hours adds 56 kw to your battery, which should be more than enough for daily use. (normaly a 3-phase wallbox and the installation will cost more.)

my guess is that the byd seal 07 will enter the thai market by the end of the year or at the beginning of 2025. it seems like the interior of the seal 07 will get a significant update. the byd seal 07 should be officially introduced in china next month, in august! https://carnewschina.com/2024/05/30/byd-seal-07-spied-in-china-likely-to-debut-soon-with-lidar/ it looks like the byd sealion 07 is expected to be launch in thailand in the next 2-3 months. i got only a closer look at its exterior (dark black windows and closed doors!) at the bangkok motor show in march 2023. byd sealion 07

what's your source? your firsthand experience, a crystal ball, or just making things up? anti-ev people like you always try to spread nonsense. get a life, enjoy spending time with your daughter, admire the beautiful view from your pool, take a drive in your bmw, or tell your wife you're bored and need a hobby ...

Legal Strategies to Reduce Thai Tax
motdaeng replied to Mike Lister's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
at first, i thought your post was sarcastic, but no, it seems you were completely serious ... (with guarantee) i think, this taxes won't disappear! hopefully, the global income tax doesn't come into effect, as that would be a real game-changer. -
Big Joke Ready to Accept Police Commission Decision

of course not ... they are all corrupt from the bottom to the top. everyone knows it and everyone accepts it. my thai teacher told me 20 years ago that corruption in thailand is like terminal cancer; it won't go away ... -
if I remember correctly, the seal 07 (2024) performance will have a top speed of 240 km/h. I hope the car will come with "suitable" wheels / tires ...

Confusion about loan interest
motdaeng replied to Na Fan's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
i think i've figured it out, with a difference of a few hundred baht: - loan amount: 600,000 thb at 15% interest for 12 months = 7,500 thb interest per month - total interest: 71 x 7,500 thb = 532,500 thb + 600,000 thb = total sume of 1,132,500 thb. - monthly amortisation: 600,000 thb over 71 months = 8,450 thb per month. - total monthly payment: 7,500 thb (interest) + 8,450 thb (amortisation) = 15,950 thb. - your balance is reduced by 8 x 8,450 thb - 600,000 thb = 532,400 thb. conclusion: in real you're paying around 24% interest! -
how many of them are on the roads in thailand? about 70 or more, or at least one in each province? the price is still ridiculously high, around 1,800,000 thb ...

i forgot to mention that PEA is now replacing the old disc meters with smart meters. this means they can see if you're feeding electricity back into the main line! one more thing, if you install solar panels and a few weeks later a smart meter is installed, your ROI calculations (including feeding back) might not work out as planned. but anyway, it's up to you ... ( i'm not against solar; i might install it myself too!)

Confusion about loan interest
motdaeng replied to Na Fan's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
maybe it's similar to a car loan in thailand: they tell you the interest rate is 4%, but you have to pay this 4% on the original loan amount from the first to the last installment. in reality, the effective interest rate is closer to 8%. most people don't realize this, and think 4% is a good deal ... !
