Looking to buy a new SUV - any recommendations?
motdaeng replied to fezza's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
but the company you love, toyota, seems to be convincing everyone that they know the future... toyota have been working on hydrogen-powered engines since 1992, and they've been very successful, as we can all see ... -
there are two groups of forum members discussing the new tax law: group A is made up of members who have studied the topic and share their knowledge with others. they present up-to-date facts and laws, helping everyone assess their own tax situation. they also highlight that tax authorities have various scenarios for implementing the laws, but how these will evolve in the coming months and years remains uncertain for everyone. group B consists of skeptics who argue that everything is still unclear, that the new law is not enforceable, or that it might never be applied. some of these members suggest doing nothing and waiting, as they believe nothing will happen at all. personally, i have a clear preference for which group i trust. a big thank you to those members for their tireless efforts and patience in helping me and other members to understand the tax law better. in the end, itโs up to each individual to decide how they will respond to the new tax law. i think in a few years (not months), we will all have a clearer picture about the "enforcment" of the law ...

millions of tax taxes returns from foreigners ... that's an other good one, it's getting better and better! what do you expect the TRD to do? the rules and regulations have been communicated. the new tax forms should be accessible by the end of the year. the TRD doesn't need to do anything more at this moment. and the TRD will most likely not send a personal invitation to every foreigner? but i see you're "proactive" and reducing your time in thailand... well done!

i do not think that is his only problem ...

ok, thank you. we may or may not see the enforcement of this tax law as early during next year. but as of today, no one knows what the TRD will do. however, i don't think this tax law will just go away, especially since the law manly targets "bigger fish" (thai people and thai companies), and not foreign tax residents like us. everyone can decide for themselves: either play it safe and follow the law, which might mean paying some taxes, or take the risk and speculate that nothing will happen in the coming years or ever ... just as a reminder: if the tax law is strictly enforced, the tax authority can audit you for up to 10 years. in addition to the unpaid taxes, you'll also face a nice penalty for not paying them. it's up to you ... and as always "TIT" everything can happen ...

to anrcaccount: do you have a crystal ball that can predict the future with 100% accuracy? i'm curious to see how this all will work out in a few years. i'm convinced the tax laws will take effectโmaybe not right away, but in the long run, most tax residents will likely be captured by the system and made to pay taxes ... btw: the TRD can force you to pay taxes even after 10 years ... just in any case you think you are "safe" the next few years ...

Bye bye Electric & Hello Hydrogen?
motdaeng replied to eezergood's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
"... a commercially practical fuel will be widely available within the next 5-10 years." this was already said about 20 years ago ... copy from www: Hydrogen has the potential to play a significant role in the future of transportation, especially for heavy-duty vehicles (like trucks and buses) and in regions with strong government support. However, its widespread adoption for passenger cars will likely depend on advancements in technology, infrastructure development, and how it competes with battery electric vehicles ... -

i agree with you to a certain extent. many ev brands available in thailand today are in china well-established, larger companies that are unlikely to disappear from the global market anytime soon. however, i do see a correction coming for the thai market. luxury and high-end ev cars, especially those with a presence in bangkok, will likely remain. but other brands that have only half-heartedly built a dealer network and offer only a few vehicles in the mid-range or lower price segments will, in my opinion, face ignificant challenges in the future ev thai market. currently, there are around 15-25 new ev car companies that have launched in thailand over just a few years. in my opinion, that's simply too many.

Taxation of foreighners in S/E Asia?
motdaeng replied to swissie's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
the rule about saving before 31.12.2023 will remain in place; it is not just a one-time or one-year provision. even in 2025 and so on, you can transfer savings made before 31.12.2023 to thailand without paying any taxes. -
a few months ago, i had the chance to take a closer look at the xpeng g6. now i am really surprised by the high price. the competition with similar vehicles is strong, and a service network isn't yet in place (?). i'm curious to see how well it will sell ... how many cars does xpeng plan to sell per month? eg. zekkr's goal is 500 cars per month, which i believe will be difficult to achieve over a long period with just one or two models.

Thailand Urged To Expand Tax Cuts for Rooftop Solar Panels
motdaeng replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
it's likely that this is once again tied to countless regulations, guidelines, and forms, making it not worth the effort to get a tax reduction. as we all know, thai bureaucracy has no limits, following the motto, "more and as complicated as possible is better than just simple and straightforward!" -
