Legal Strategies to Reduce Thai Tax
motdaeng replied to Mike Lister's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
i think the majority of foreigners haven't been aware of it; in the past many transferred earnings in the same year to thailand and committed technical tax evasion. for this year, the rules are clear about who should file a tax return: https://www.expattaxthailand.com/your-questions-answered/ -
no one knows if anything will happen or what will happen with the new tax law. bringing money into thailand for buying a new car (house, etc.) will be tricky, but burying your head in the sand and pretending to be oblivious isn't what i would personally do.

no ESS? or would you use your car battery as ESS?

i completely agree with you on this ... however, i think the TRD will respond, address questions, and clarify things after you submit the tax refund for 2024. for the moment, the basics for filing the tax return seem to be clear, but beyond that, there is a lot of uncertainty and speculation ... in the end, the TRD will make the final decision, whether we like it or not ... therefore, my advice is to keep it simple and play it safe for this year, like transferring only so much assessable income so you don't have to pay any tax for 2024 ...

that is a good one ... 5555

to be more precise... if you are a married tax resident and transfer under 220,000k (assessable income) in the tax year into thailand, you do not need to file a tax return ... if you are a single tax resident and transfer under 120,000k (assessable income) in the tax year into thailand, you do not need to file a tax return ... https://www.expattaxthailand.com/your-questions-answered/

you are trolling, aren't you?

there is no global income tax for thai residents, and hopefully, there never will be. as a thai tax resident, money transferred after january 1, 2024, will be subject to taxation. transferring savings accumulated before december 31, 2023, will not be taxed. you can find some helpful information here: https://www.expattaxthailand.com/your-questions-answered/

i think i read it somewhere, but i can't find it anymore ... according to an article in the bangkok post from the end of 2023, thailand has 11.8 million registered passenger cars (maximum 7 passengers). does anyone know how many battery electric vehicles (bev) passenger cars (excluding phev/hybrid) are registered in total, including 2024? thanks, motdaeng

never mind, i have nothing to hide and there is nothing to get from me. i understand your point, but i gave up a few years ago on trying to be "invisible". if you use the internet or cellphone, sooner or later they will have your data.

there are currently too many ev companies in the market. naturally, this will lead to a consolidation where only a few strong ones will survive. what happen is nothing special ... that this would happen was expected!

i don't have solar yet ... i can not think of one private solar installation (no battery), without having excess produktion during even an average sunny day! there's nothing to see through ... having excess electricity on solar is normal and has nothing to do with an ev car!

the past has shown that'll not happen ... don't expect anything constructive from this troll, best not to feed someone like him ...

Shocking slump: Thailand’s premium EV sales plunge 35%

how the price reduction vent was just not the right move... it caused a lot of damage! i think it will take a few years for ev's prices to stabilize, because right now there's a lot of room for improvement, a lot of competitions for market share, battery costs are falling ... and so on. -

i asked chatgpt about McKinsey: "McKinsey is generally a credible source, but it's always wise to critically evaluate its reports and consider them alongside other sources to get a balanced view." but let's allow the customer and the future to decide. it will be interesting to see where we stand in 10 years ... -

sorry, off topic: i would guess the median spending for a non-working retired foreigner in thailand is about 1 million baht per year. how many two-week holiday tourists are needed to generate 1 million baht in revenue? i believe tourists are one of the real economy boosters in thailand, while retired foreigners are just small fish in the pond! that's why we are treated like small, unimportant fish ...

neta x .... wow, i love that! i hope other companies will follow ... (the fine print for lifetime battery insurance will be interesting)
