  1. Actually, topt, I've never had the need to transfer out of Thailand, but thanks for the reminder.
  2. Crossy… “It might be Wise…” - very droll and a golden nugget for the company… 555
  3. Georgealbert, sorry to break into your message stream, but has Ubonjoe passed? You say the ‘late Udonjoe’ which means he is dead…??? If so, that is extremely sad - he has been such a stalwart source of Thai immigration advice for many years…
  4. Fortunately, one only has cause to visit the bank for new bank books and at visa extension time for Immigration purposes. ATMs are plentiful. The most disturbing change within Thai banking is the restriction of using only ONE device for online banking requirements. I used both an iPhone and an iPad to carry out transactions on Thai banking apps which is now unavailable due to Thai 1.0 banking security. My UK banks have no such restrictions and have far better security features, thank goodness.
  5. Indeed, he probably gains his outstanding ‘English-speaking’ (hyphenated adjective) data from occupants of neighbouring bar stools - I’m going to be drawn into the debate no further. 🤓
  6. Hi Moogradad, do you have any contact details, please? I’ve searched but can find nothing. An address or phone number, email would be much appreciated. Thanks. ????
  7. You can’t beat Surfshark for worldwide coverage… ????
  8. I’ve found another occasion… the rear number plate has been bleached white by the sun on a car I bought new from Phitsanulok some years ago. I’ve been instructed to get a new plate by returning to the original provincial office as Phetchabun, where I live now, is not allowed to issue a new plate. In the meantime, I’ve had the registration number ‘repainted black’ but I understand that ‘plod’ can still create a fuss if it isn’t replaced? Any relevant experience from other ‘farang’? Thanks!
  9. Thank you. There was no mention of the OP having had Re-Entry permits to main his “permission of stay” and I thought I was ‘missing a trick’.
  10. Sorry, Dr Jack, but does that mean that one can hop in and out of Thailand WITHOUT needing re-entry permits and STILL maintain one's annual extension of stay?
  11. Felton Jarvis, this piece of useless advice is not going to help someone to understand the process of using the 800,000 ThB to meet the requirements of a Retirement Visa. If you’ve got nothing constructive to say, why not just desist from your inanity?
  12. Look at the source of the post... it's a UK guy who fancies himself as an 'Apple tech' and is regurgitating Apple advice. If you want Apple advice, go to Apple Support directly - in addition, they can probably construct sentences correctly in English?
  13. It’s just a clever way to lull men into a false sense of security, but quite endearing, I think - better than shouting “Dad!” across the supermarket ????
  14. Absolutely, a special dining experience and as some others have said, a great night-time view…
  15. It must feel very imperious for you to know everything about the world? AgMech Cowboy was asking a very reasonable question, to which he got some good, knowledgeable answers. Thank goodness not everyone is as smug as you.
  16. Are you a time traveller? 22nd century? Who knows what it will be like, but Thailand won’t have advanced much, is my guess? 555
  17. “1,000 sobs and jail if you can't pay!” Rooster, a great read as always, but were you being ‘punny’ with your use of ‘sobs’, rather than ‘sovs’ about the TV Licence penalties?
  18. Thanks, Excel for your knee-jerk reaction in typical, ‘ThaiVisa’ style. I have personal knowledge of Jeju-do and understand totally it is a South Korean island. I was pointing out that, because of its proximity to Japan, they (the Japanese) might well want to gain knowledge about nefarious visitors to Jeju-do. Have a lie down… ????
  19. Have you any knowledge about the location of Jeju Island? Google it to see how Japan might have an interest. ????
  20. Bill, this poor 'newbie' to Thailand has this lesson to learn from Tennyson. "Theirs not to question, why?, Theirs but to do and die." JFDI ???? Hope you're keeping well?
  21. I am in Phetchabun and in the process of helping the wife of a friend visit him in the UK whilst he is undergoing chemotherapy and unable to travel back to Thailand. She has visited him twice before without difficulty. We have successfully completed an online application and paid the fee of 4491 ThB and have a Reference Number for her to visit VFSGlobal in Bangkok for the biometrics and examination of her documentation. The VFS site allows access to their calendar for a suitable date and time but when they require payment of the document scanning service and SMS messaging of the application, the payment system freezes and says, "The Merchant ID is unavailable, please try again in 150 minutes". Even the VFSGlobal feedback system is not working? Does anyone PLEASE have a direct telephone number to anyone in the VFSGlobal Trendy Building location or an email system that works? I would be most grateful, thank you.
  22. Thanks, youoldgit… I stand corrected - good news!!! ????????
  23. Sorry, but hotandsticky is correct. When visiting the UK, one is able to drive legally with a FULL Thai Driving Licence for up to 6 months.????
