  1. Fortunately, one only has cause to visit the bank for new bank books and at visa extension time for Immigration purposes. ATMs are plentiful.

The most disturbing change within Thai banking is the restriction of using only ONE device for online banking requirements. I used both an iPhone and an iPad to carry out transactions on Thai banking apps which is now unavailable due to Thai 1.0 banking security. My UK banks have no such restrictions and have far better security features, thank goodness.

Bard thinks maybe your English is a little lacking too.

    "

The grammar of the sentence "I have rarely met an English person that knows 'lose is not loose' nor 'have is not of'" is correct, but it could be improved by making a few changes.

First, the word "that" should be replaced with "who" because it is referring to a person.

Second, the word "nor" should be replaced with "or" because it is connecting two negative statements.

Third, the phrase "have is not of" is a bit awkward and could be replaced with "is not of having."

Finally, the sentence could be made more concise by removing the word "rarely."

    Here is the revised sentence:

I have rarely met an English person who knows that "lose" is not "loose" or that "have" is not of having."

Indeed, he probably gains his outstanding ‘English-speaking’ (hyphenated adjective) data from occupants of neighbouring bar stools - I’m going to be drawn into the debate no further. 🤓

Treat yourself to a night in Bangkok and let the Shop "Rocket Sound" take care of it. Their parking is full of Supercars. Must be a well known place. They did it for us (Front and Back) professionally. Would choose them anytime again.

Hi Moogradad, do you have any contact details, please? I’ve searched but can find nothing. An address or phone number, email would be much appreciated. Thanks. ????

you don't need to re-register and can continue to use the car 'out of province' annual tax can be paid normally,

you'd rarely need to visit the original plate province's DLT, things like transfer of ownership can be done at any province's DLT

I’ve found another occasion… the rear number plate has been bleached white by the sun on a car I bought new from Phitsanulok some years ago. I’ve been instructed to get a new plate by returning to the original provincial office as Phetchabun, where I live now, is not allowed to issue a new plate. In the meantime, I’ve had the registration number ‘repainted black’ but I understand that ‘plod’ can still create a fuss if it isn’t replaced?

Any relevant experience from other ‘farang’? Thanks!

    No.

When you do an extension you are given a "permission of stay"

To exit Thailand and keep that "permission of stay" you need to buy a reentry permit.

If you plan to make more than 3 trips outside of Thailand then multi is better than single reentry permit.

    Single 1000b

    Multiple 3800b

Same TM8 form you just tick multi of Singles box

Thank you. There was no mention of the OP having had Re-Entry permits to main his “permission of stay” and I thought I was ‘missing a trick’.

You do need to have made a 90 day report to apply for 12 months extension.

My first 7 years in Thailand on extensions (retirement), I never did a TM47.

Aside: re your application for extension make sure that you apply 15+ days prior to expiry of your current permission of stay.

Also that your 800k has been in bank for 2months or more

    Hi Dr Jack,

Is there also no necessity for multi-re-entry permits?

Use an agent.  “Seasoning” is something you do to enhance the flavour of food. Only the Thais use it to mean parking your money in a bank for a predetermined period of time. Agents solve all problems, unfortunately they usually charge too much so they can bribe Immigration.

Felton Jarvis, this piece of useless advice is not going to help someone to understand the process of using the 800,000 ThB to meet the requirements of a Retirement Visa. If you’ve got nothing constructive to say, why not just desist from your inanity?

Absolutely, a special dining experience and as some others have said, a great night-time view…

The one thing we need to remember is that while we are in the 22 century and have all the fancy tech stuff. A lot of countries are still in the 20th century.

It was not long ago that British officers were officers based on their financial means,  People bought their commissions or went to fancy schools.

a lot of Asian countries are still in the same time frame.

If you look at some India and Pakistan the feudal system still exists where the land owner has families that work on his land and he looks after them.

Are you a time traveller? 22nd century? Who knows what it will be like, but Thailand won’t have advanced much, is my guess? 555

Well clearly you have no knowledge about the thread. It is about South Korean immigration on Jeju Island, which is a South Korean province, so please , don't comment on something that clearly you do not understand has nothing to do with the Japanese.

Thanks, Excel for your knee-jerk reaction in typical, ‘ThaiVisa’ style. I have personal knowledge of Jeju-do and understand totally it is a South Korean island.

I was pointing out that, because of its proximity to Japan, they (the Japanese) might well want to gain knowledge about nefarious visitors to Jeju-do.

    Have a lie down… ????

  11. I am in Phetchabun and in the process of helping the wife of a friend visit him in the UK whilst he is undergoing chemotherapy and unable to travel back to Thailand. She has visited him twice before without difficulty.

We have successfully completed an online application and paid the fee of 4491 ThB and have a Reference Number for her to visit VFSGlobal in Bangkok for the biometrics and examination of her documentation.

The VFS site allows access to their calendar for a suitable date and time but when they require payment of the document scanning service and SMS messaging of the application, the payment system freezes and says, "The Merchant ID is unavailable, please try again in 150 minutes". Even the VFSGlobal feedback system is not working?

Does anyone PLEASE have a direct telephone number to anyone in the VFSGlobal Trendy Building location or an email system that works?

I would be most grateful, thank you.

No I'm sorry but you're both wrong:

For those moving to the UK

Driving in Great Britain on a non-GB licence

You can drive in Great Britain on your full, valid driving licence for 12 months from when you became resident

After 12 months you’ll need to apply for a provisional licence and pass the theory and practical driving tests to drive in Great Britain.

    https://www.gov.uk/driving-nongb-licence/y/a-resident-of-great-britain/full-car-and-motorcycle/any-other-country

    And for visitors:

Driving in Great Britain on a non-GB licence

You can drive any type of small vehicle (for example cars or motorcycles) listed on your full and valid licence for 12 months from when you last entered Great Britain (GB)

    https://www.gov.uk/driving-nongb-licence/y/a-visitor-to-great-britain/any-other-country

    Thanks, youoldgit… I stand corrected - good news!!! ????????

Sorry, but hotandsticky is correct. When visiting the UK, one is able to drive legally with a FULL Thai Driving Licence for up to 6 months.????

Yes, you are free to spend the money. The only requirement is you show evidence that at least 65k is deposited in the account Each Month and it originated From Outside Thailand.  I use this method for my annual extensions - previously used the Embassy letter until the USA Embassy stopped issuing them.

In my case I use Wise (formerly Transferwise) to transfer the money from my USA bank to my Bangkok Bank Account which the bank records with the FTT (foreign transfer) code.  This is not the case with many other Thai banks, they will record it as domestic because Wise uses one of their partner banks (Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn Bank) for the funds - if your account is with another Thai bank, the funds will come from a partner bank and they will treat it as a domestic transfer.  Even with Wise, there have been some hiccups, i.e. they sending money through Kasikorn instead of Bangkok Bank resulting in it not being recorded with the FTT account.  In such cases, I had sufficient funds available to make a second transfer by another means that did get properly recorded thus still had no problem showing I made the required transfer in each month.

As with many things dealing with Immigration here, the documentation requirements can differ between offices. I use Chonburi (Pattaya) Immigration.  For proof of monthly transfers, they want an original bank letter listing the foreign deposits to your account for the 12 months preceding your renewal application (this is in addition to the usual letter providing evidence you have an account in your name which is also required for those using the 800k in the bank method).

I can confirm that, like Soisanuk, I transfer money from the UK every month via Wise and it generally works well. However, due to ‘banking glitches’ I’ve so far had two transfers this year that came via Kasikorn and were registered as ‘domestic transfers’ NOT ‘TFF’ by my Bangkok Bank account. This also presents no problem as nearer my visa renewal date in September, I will get the necessary documentary proof from Kasikorn that it was money originated from my UK bank and diverted via Kasikorn to Bangkok Bank. I’ve done this each year it happens with no problems at Thai Immigration.
