OH I have a headache, but I would like to know why the Bangkok bank is trying to get rid of foreigners
No No No! " Bangkok bank is trying to get rid of foreigners"
That's only certain foreigners.

"Folded n half"? I must be seeing a different photo than U.

You be surprised how little information the tellers and the bank staff
for that matter has on their screens when it comes to where your monies
go, apart from name and account number they have nothing showing,
and if you want more info on a customer like address, ID number or
god forbid a picture, you're up a stone wall faces...
I would definitely not be surprised after being told the banks keep no account records past 12 months. Now that did surprise me!

More than a little, considerating how desperate and in dreadful pain this poor guy probably was and the grief and suffering his death will bring to his family.
Clearly this man did not need "assisted suicide" and would have benefited, as would so many others for whom life has become unbearable, from being able to obtain at an affordable price the means to make a painless and pleasurable exit from the world.
Surely Big Pharma has the ability and financial incentive to come up with an inexpensive Happy Pill which, with safeguards, could be made available to those of us who feel our lives have become a burden to ourselves and, even more importantly, our loved ones.
I think Digitas provides a valuable service
From their website:
In the case of medically diagnosed hopeless or incurable illnesses, unbearable pain or unendurable disabilities, DIGNITAS offers its members the option of an accompanied suicide. DIGNITAS procures the necessary medication for this, a lethal, fast-acting and completely painless barbiturate which is dissolved in ordinary drinking water. After taking it the patient falls asleep within a few minutes, after which sleep passes peacefully and completely painlessly into death.
I wish those seriously contemplating suicide would consider such a service before attempting a painful and potentially unsuccessful method.

I wish my 7 year old Vigo had a heater, there are two months each year when it would be a wondrous thing to have in the mountains north of Chiang Mai, it gets seriously chilly in the mornings.
And anyone looking at RTA deaths in Thailand needs to back out the motorcycle deaths from the figures before commenting, M/C deaths account for 75% of the total.
How hot does your aircon get in your Vigo? I don't have a Vigo but my car's aircon has a setting for 27 Celsius, maybe higher. Are you looking for something wamer than that?
I wouldn't call Thai assembled cars inferior but I would appreciate it if a portion of the taxes charged on the car were allotted to some of the known worthwhile safety features such as airbags and possibly reinforced side panels. When I was looking for a new car to buy the only well equipped car in terms of airbags I saw was the Prius. There may be more now. I don't know.

If the import charge on cheese was removed, the cost of a block of Mature English Cheddar at Tops would drop from 350 baht, to 345 baht almost overnight!
I buy whatever food items I want at any given time. No problem at all. Spending 10's of 100's of thousands of baht for a vehicle is an entirely different matter.
I'll trade your cheese issue with my car price issue if you agree? Fair exchange?
OK?

More frequent oil changes are OK.
No harm done other than to your pocket book.
You may do your bike good..

That's only if you know him well. Haben Sie einen Vogel would be more appropriate. Nein? ( O level German)
Thank you friend,
My limited German does let me know the difference between "Du and Sie".
I appreciate you pointing that out nevertheless. I am a dummkopf regarding German.. Long time ago as in many decades.. I bow down to all German speakers. Fair enough?
Back to what is a good and understandable way for Thai drivers to understand an act of appreciation for what the Thai driver did.
Controversy seems not reasonable to me about this. But I am often wrong.
11 minutes ago, jenny2017 said:Yep, "Du" if you know him/her, it's not gender specific. Asking if somebody's insane can hardly be appropriate. Not too many German speakers would use "Sie"...

It would be " "Hast Du einen Vogel?" ( Are you mad?)
My limited German is severely rusty but it actually has to do with "do you have a bird in your head?"
Corrections welcome..

Delayed reaction, whatever you say,if you did not really know what to do
if a Thai driver showed you courtesy, it must have been a shock to you,
when i show courtesy to Thai drivers, by letting them in the que, they too
appear to be shocked, and i have to consort to vigorous hand waving to
let them know i am really letting them in.
Safe driving Regards Worgeordie
Sorry, but you seem to get it much wrong, my friend.
To assist in the cultural reference I made, I offer you this example "Bis Du ein folgel in dein Koph"?, Indicated by gesture by me in traffic to a taxi driver . I did that once in Frankfurt and the taxi driver nearly went insane and to me it was really nearly meaningless. I laughed a lot with my German ex wife about how upset the taxi driver got.
You kind of get the point about different culture things? I hope..
Different cultures my friend.

Not sure if you are jabing or sincere. I see no reference in his post regarding a signed contract.
For the sake of the OP, I hope he has one or I'd figure I just gave a gift to someone.

I think so
Just going off the vehicle I bought (even though expensive considering ) it was made in Indonesia for Toyota.
It certainly wasn't a 400 % mark up
Actually the cars built here are taxed in a kind of way. There are some mild import taxes on the parts imported to fit out the shells ( hence why the sedans cost more then the west )
Japan is pissed withe this
The reason you see alot of Utes around is due to the fact they are tax exempt ( farm vehicle )
It makes buying a large Ute tempting if it weren't for having to navigate narrow sois.
I already nearly close my eyes at times thinking I'm going to hit something with just driving my saloon.

Good one. That alone would attract 40,000 additional retirees. That's not a lot scattered all over Thailand as they are not going to buy downtown Bangkok. If each generated an additional $25,000 income then that would be an annual boost to the Thai economy of $1 billion, or 33 billion baht.
I as well would like the opportunity to buy land or at least a house in my own name but the idea of it attracting additional retirees is not something I think Thailand either wants or would like.

I will wire in 10 or 15,000 USD to my depleted KBank account. What document, if any, do I need from the bank to prove the origin of said money should I decide to transfer funds out of Thailand?
I've wired in funds in the past and never received anything I know of from the bank except fees.

Doesn't Thailand do exactly the same thing? Isn't that why European car brands are sold at insane prices here?
Is that higher price scenario limited to only European car brands?

even worry about it.

worgeordie, are you aware that different countries have different social norms and customs?
My question was sincere and as the above posts indicate the understanding as to what would be correct and acceptable appears to lack a universal agreement.

Vietnam asked to lift unfair restriction on Thai cars

Got it.
I can report my aircon has never been set to run at 27, far from it. It goes down to 16 C. I believe and then to "cold" I let it run almost always at cold. the single place in SouthEastAsia where I felt a bit chilly was in Bagiou in the Philippines at a mountainous look out point. I find SEA seriously warm at last as far the countries I've visited is concerned.
Good luck in reaching a toasty state around Chang Mai.
