  1. Chiang Mai Properties advertise self storage between 5 and 50sq mtr (no cu mtrs quoted). Houseinchiangmai.net and select the appropriate tab. No first hand knowledge so you'll need to check it out but they do mention CCTV.

Can't see the self storage tab on the Chiangmaiproperties website...have they stopped doing this, and are there any other options (just need to store one or two boxes, so not worth getting a condo room)?

  2. Just noticed on the website that kickoff for this Saturday's game is now 7pm, not 6pm..

Yes mate that's correct, its down to fact that we are playing Buriram and they are expecting a big crowd. Last year 25,000 attendance for the same game. There's also a few rumours going round that the new Prime Minister YingLuck will attend the game, but no Idea if this is true or not.

Still meeting at the Red Lion tomorrow, and if so what time?

  3. I've found that to be quite common too - that where you're a repeat customer that instead of offering you discounts that instead constantly ratchet up their prices until it gets to the point of being obviously absurd. I've had that happen at several tailors, laundries, and Thai run restaurants.

This practice is applied in more than a way, as when you try to buy a box containing many items of the same kind....and then you find out that buying them one by one instead of in bulk is going to cost you less money :cheesy:

Just wandering around pricing various massage options in Nimmanheiman area...in every case the price quoted for 90 minutes has been more than half as much again as the hourly rate!

  4. yes. it's called tawan daeng (sp), big nightclub in the prasertland area behind nimmanhaemin. has big portraits of john lennon, che guevara, chairman mao and other assorted famous reds and lefties around the walls of the place.

Ah, so that's it! Thanks muchly..

  5. In my opinion, for what it's worth, a short stopover between flights in Bangkok would be far more acceptable than a short stopover in Seoul.

Actually, Seoul isn't a bad stopover destination- we use them frequently when flying from Oz to Europe with Korean Air. If you think of travelling with Korean its worthwhile becoming Skypass members (its free). They have free accommodation deals for Skypass miles which are both easy to accrue and use.

  6. Sorry but you guys really amuse me.

In the past I have had to pay my dues by working behind the scenes in restaurants in the US, Europe and the U.K.. Bloody hard work and the restaurant frequently operates on a shostring budget. In fact this often occurs in more upper-market restaurants as well.

If only you knew what went on behind closed doors.

Not sure if you weould ever eat away from home again.

    Bon Appertitie !

I'm sure that happens in some establishments, but I haven't seen it happen in broad daylight before..ohmy.gif

  7. The horror.

You sure it was the rice cooker and they weren't saving it for something else (to be sold/used has dog food, etc.)

It would be strange to throw rice in the trash for a restaurant, there is often a use for it.

I wish..it was the same cooker that they were serving the rice from...but I think she did work around the bits that were pre-sauced..

  8. There's a good little cheap and cheerful Thai restaurant just around the corner in Nimmanheiman where I've been getting some nice simple takeaways over the past couple of weeks. Today at lunchtime while waiting for my pad thai to be cooked I noticed the young waitress who was cleaning up the plates scrape the leftover rice back into the rice cooker- AAARRGGHHH.

Won't stop me going there, but I'll be sure to supply my own rice in future!

  9. We have ordered by phone from Meals On Wheels 4U in the past but our mobile is currently routing through Australia and a call to order dinner would cost a lot!

Tried to ask the question of MOW4U through their website contact box and am getting a 'fatal error' message - can anyone help? Is there another email address? Thanks!

  10. Tried Sahara last night and thought it good. I had an excellent, full flavoured chicken and eggplant stew from the Middle Eastern menu and the other half had a hankering for a burger, which she declared excellent. Nice fresh fruit frappes for 65 baht, and the wine by the glass for 90 baht wasn't too bad either by Thai standards.

While it might seem a bit odd to have a menu spread across Western, Middle Eastern and Thai cuisine I guess it means most people can find something they like. Pizzas at the next table looked OK too.

I'd be happy to go back.

  11. Hi folks

Apologies for not putting in an appearance yet at the Stadium although I've been back in CM for nearly 2 weeks. An unscheduled overnight stop in the ICU of Bumrungrad a couple of weeks ago and a subsequent slow recovery has had me on the unfit list for a while. Might be tempted to get out on Wednesday though -although alcohol and caffeine still on the banned list :(

Let me know if there's a quorum of TV contributors going- as I'm staying at Kantary (and have to give the pre-match pint a miss) we could meet up outside the ground.

  12. Just a related question- we ended up in Peak Gardens last year, which was great (Hi Derek) and this year have settled into Kantary Hills for a month a few days ago. Fantastic place, only downside is a thai bar standing in the large parking area between Kantary and the canal road which last night was pumping out loud music till 3am. Anyone know what this place is called (no english signage)? I presume they have 'special connections' to allow them to operate this late?

  13. Wondering if anyone could suggest a good place for a memorable birthday dinner, just for two. Have previously enjoyed the Chedi and House a few times, but ready for something different. Budget flexible, but nice ambience essential! Open to suggestions as to cuisine, although a slight preference for Thai.

  14. Purely for research purposes, I've just now got a 2 litre bottle of Mont Clair white from the local Villa Market here in BKK- will provide an updated review tomorrow!
