  1. I guess that the Thai public in an uproar have never looked closely at their forests. In the typical forest in America, the woods are full of wildlife and in places loaded with deer. As such, hunting is viable. Here in Thailand? What wildlife? If it can be eaten it has been. All that is left are birds, snakes, rodents, and not much else. So - who is guilty of raping the ecosphere here in Thailand? As the article premised, the farang was on a charter boat. If the fish were caught "illegally" as in a park - that is 100% on the boat operator. I'd say it's up to the charter operator to inform clients of laws. If I chartered a fishing boat in the US, I'd be reliant on the captain and crew to inform me of the limits and restrictions. Soley blaming the "evil farang" as the Thai public is doing is just more racist xenophobia. The charter operator bears a large portion of the blame if the catch WAS illegal.
  2. I have pre-printed TM47 on my computer and in the past I'd print out four each year and place them in a folder to use every 90 days. I just made sure I used the address as it was written on previous TM47s.
  3. The new system worked for me as skeptical as I am. The old system never worked. There is a link to register. Bookmark this below. Then go to the registration link on the same page. After registration approval use this login link to login and create a 90 day application. You'll do this every 90 day (or so). I filed my 90 day a few days ago. Received and approved in about 1 hour. I also use the Brave browser as Firefox is flaky Obvious I use a computer. I detest 'smart phone' and the technology. Best of luck. https://tm47.immigration.go.th/tm47/#/login
  4. My first America friend showed up in BKK today. It's been 2 and a half years.
  5. I'm amazed at people who glue themselves to the main-steam media and frighten the heck out of themselves as they fret about which new 'variant' will kill them. Want to live a calm, collected life? Ignore it. Enjoy the life you have instead of fretting over how some variant of this or that will deal you a mortal blow. Nowadays, healthy members of the public are now keeling over with Sudden Adult Death Syndrome. Maybe people should be live in fear of SADS as their is no known cause. Here in Thailand. Most people are more likely to get killed on the roads or by a Thai who suddenly loses face and flips out. Personally I don't follow the Covid fear-news.
  6. Why is it that everyone I know who have had the shots have also had Covid. In my personal circle of friends, family, and acquaintance - every fully vaxxed person has contracted Covid.
  7. Cant decide if I should get another covid booster. What about you? You can have mine. But yes. Get the booster. You'll die for sure without it.
  8. Nothing like an air-tight sandwich. They had them is Subic City.
  9. That pretty much sums it up. Also, Thais are generally animistic Buddhists and Filipinas are Catholic. I know a number of Thai women with unhappy farang husbands who want them to convert to some form of Christianity. So if you're a Christian guy, you may want to go the Filipina route.

  13. For me, buckling up as soon as I sit is ingrained habit. Like wearing a motorcycle helmet (and shoes, and jean (at least), and gloves). My body, my choice. I see value in their use. Everyone else? It's up to them. The laws requiring these items are essentially money-making schemes for the BIB.
  14. ฿฿฿ Cha-Ching! ฿฿฿
  15. I love when Thai government officials insinuate that all foreigners are disease ridden and dirty. Institutionalized xenophobia at its best.
  16. Up here in Northern Thailand we have the Mae Moh Power Plant which is fueled by a lignite coal mine occupying an area of 135 square kilometers near the plant. Now, the world leaders are falling over each other jacking up the price of energy and blaming the Russian SMO in Ukraine. OK. I understand when EU leaders sanction Russia by cutting off their own supply of coal, gas, and oil from Russia. They are "punishing Russia" and it will totally blow-back on average EU commoners. Well, let them eat cake and wear more sweaters. But here in Thailand? This country is pretty well energy independent. So the question becomes - why is the Prayut government raising the price of energy. By the way, i can't wait to see PTT's income statement and profit column for 2022.
  17. The world government 'elites' seem to have now embraced totalitarianism. It's not 'just Thailand.' As such, there are now efforts to outlaw protests as well as speech that doesn't conform to official narratives. It's not a good sign.
  18. Corporal punishment was alive and well in both the British and US schools I attended back in the 50s and 60s. Rite of passage. "The Paddle." You'd get a lick or so and then laugh it off with your friends. Do I endorse it? No. Especially when I hear about teachers smashing kids in the head and face and otherwise criminally assaulting them. Status: Teacher "High"; Student "Low" - so if the teacher feels 'disrespected' or is just moody it seems to be an excuse to physically abuse their students. These teacher lack self-control and probably should not be in a classroom.
  19. I can't blame workers. They go back to work, the government closes down the country again, and they are all out of work again. "Oh look. Monkeypox!!! Polio!!! Sub-variant B4.3.2.55!!! Virus_X!!! Masks on. Non-essential business need to close along with the borders." This is a never ending story now that it has been rolled out once. The control freaks in power will never allow this opportunity to control the commoners to end. Wise workers seek jobs that are not effected by the whims of governments and 'experts.'
