  1. Do stupid stuff, win stupid prizes. Enjoy your stay followed by deportation.
  2. Human hatred will put an end to it all. Give it time. We're on the brink. "Holding on to hatred is like a man who wants to hit another and picks up a burning ember or excrement in his hand and so first burns himself or makes himself stink." -Buddhaghoṣa, 5th century Buddhist scholar
  3. I don't even need to read the comments.....I can hear the Western expat's screams of indignation all the way up here in Lamphun (but I'll read it for fun - maybe I'm wrong and then I'll delete this). Let see...... <a few minutes later> Yep - I called it. Out of 51 posts there were perhaps 2 that were informative regarding the ICC, 4 that were neutral commentary primarily about the ICC, 1 commenting on the meeting as being an exercise in diplomacy......which leaves about 44. So taking a napkin calculation over 85% of the comments are pretty much anti-Russia/anti-Putin. Add mine to the "diplomacy is a good idea as well as Thai-Russian diplomacy as there are positive economic ramifications for Thailand to maintain friendly relationships with both Russia and China. As usual, I'm in the minority (less than 5% positive comments). Diplomacy is always a good idea.
  4. Interesting but I wonder...how cost effective? However, it beats the heck out of the 'carbon capture' schemes where CO2 is pulled out of the air and pumped into the Earth crust. At least you get something for your efforts as opposed to - quite literally - funneling a few hundred billion into the ground.
  5. If they come on a Non O-A then they have to have insurance. But at 80 years old you can't get insurance. Catch-22. If you wish to live as a family of expats, make plans to move to another country.
  6. They should be happy that the still are endowed with life so that they can worry about how they will pay that debt. Also - there is an object lesson here. Paying large sums of money in order to secure a job is sorta like paying large sums of money because a romance scammer tells you that for only 200,000 THB you'll make 20,000,000 THB. Really. If you want to spend that sort of money on a game of chance, book a flight to Mexico City, hook up with a coyote service, cross the wide open US border, get a free phone and a bus ride, and get taken to a sanctuary city where you'll be hooked up with social service, entitlement payments, a job, and eventually a green card.
  7. Well how interesting. I just made another purchase. This time the Lazada Wallet automatically showed up in my payment methods. Surprise, surprise. So I guess you need to use the Lazada Android app to activate the wallet, then given sufficient time, it becomes available as a payment method online via the Lazada web application. Well, that makes me happy. Slick. All's well that ends well.
  8. Ok - I can buy that. No offense taken. Regards.
  9. I'm not sure if my wife would stand now or not. She was deeply committed and respectful to Rama 9 and Rama 5. Now? ???? "Hummmmm." We haven been to a movie since before the death of King Bhumiphol and considering that I can't stand movie theaters, we may never find out.
  10. Just say, "No," to crack.
  11. I pretty well guarantee your eye health is "normal" for your age. My eye's have been abnormal all of my life, and age is now exacerbating the hereditary abnormalities. My eyes are Sigma 3 to the norm (if you ever took statistics). I have some serious eye issues. But? Feel free to make fun of my physical handicap as that seems to be the status quo for some members. "Oh - sucks to be you, but I'm fine!" Well, if it make you feel superior - whatever. I'm happy you can see with your appropriate glasses and can embrace your little smartphone screen. Lucky you!
  12. Someone failed their math classes in school. ☝️
  13. I'd be a little more worried about the high methamphetimine uptake of Thai youth. Salt is way down the line in immediate health risks.
  14. Personally - no. And no plans to. Weight can be controlled with diet and exercise, which if course requires will-power.
  15. There were "railway police." I just thought the rail-workers simply wore police-looking uniforms while at work.
  16. I know. A lot of people can, especially younger people. My eyes are shot - heredity and age. I use an Android phone only when I absolutely need to. It looks like this is one such case.
  17. I think some Thais have very active imaginations.
  18. Lazada Wallet - Is this only available on the Lazada Android App? It seems to be that way. I had a refund from a return that went to the Wallet. I could not access the Lazada Wallet from the browser version of Lazada. Kept getting a "Page Does Not Exist" error. I installed their Android app, and then the Lazada Wallet and the refund were both viewable. I had to activate the Wallet though. My wife would not cooperate with verifying the account (bad people were going to scam her and take all her money). Yeah, whatever. I'm willing to trust online retailers enough to get my refunded money back to use in future transaction. Luckily I could change the account details to myself and I was able to activate the Wallet as a foreigner. However, I still can't access the Lazada Wallet though the browser-based Lazada site. Is this a feature? If so it looks like I'll need to use the web browser to at least get items I want to buy into the online basket (I simply can not use an Android phone to browser a website, I hate these phone with a passion), but once in the basket it looks like I'll need to use the phone to checkout and access the funds in the Lazada Wallet. I'd prefer to do it in the web browser. Anyone else have the same issues?
  19. It all depends on the office and the mood of the individual Immigration Officers. Where I report to? "No" and "no."
  20. 1000 to 2500 THB can buy you 90 minutes worth of love (fishbowl/side-liners).
  21. The horror..... The inhumanity.... What should be done??? “The attackers came at dawn, quickly occupying the town. The men were separated from the women and shot. One of the attackers, opening the door of one of the homes, found an old man standing there. He shot him. ‘He enjoyed shooting him,’ an eyewitness to the attack said afterwards. Soon the town was empty—the entire population of 5,000 had either been killed or expelled, those who survived put on trucks, and driven to Gaza. The empty homes were looted. ‘We were very happy,’ one of the participants said afterwards. ‘If you don’t take it, someone else will. You don’t feel you have to give it back. They were not coming back.’”
  22. My own vet just shrugged when I asked him questions about bird care. Obviously he has no specialty in avian care. Does anyone who has pet birds know of a veterinarian who can treat birds.
