  1. It's neither the piston rings, nor did somebody manipulate the Diesel pump.....

Black smoke indicates that the engine doesn't burn all Diesel, which is injected into the cylinders through injectors. There're two different types of Diesel pumps, but both need maintenance.

There're valves, o-rings and other parts inside the pump that have to be renewed, once black smoke comes out of the exhaust system. Then the injectors have to be renewed as well.

No truck owner wants to have black smoke coming out of the exhaust system, and filters wouldn't fix that problem. Some trucks only have that "problem" because the air filter was never cleaned/ changed. This black smoke is money that comes out, unused by the engine........

So less air the engine gets, so more un- burned Diesel will come out through the muffler,

Diesel engines do have a high compression, and the mixture will self fire through the high compression. Blue smoke shows that the piston rings are worn out.

Hope that explains your question, not too many people in Thailand can afford an overhaul of their Diesel pump, plus new injectors.

When you see some 30 year old Pick up trucks, with a lot of black smoke coming out, do you think they can spend 3-5,000 baht to get that fixed?

And it's difficult to find the right garage, familiar with that stuff. For those people who live in Sisaket area, Sisaket Diesel does a great job and it's affordable. located at Kantharalk Road.

By the way, this black smoke is pretty much dangerous and can develop cancer for people who inhale that too often.

    .

So why does a brand new pickup blow black smoke ?

  2. Internet has become almost 100% reliable the last few years. Have been dealing with all providers in many of my condos for the last 10 years and now stick with 3-BB. Great deals on Fiber Optic accounts. Good service. At the moment I got about 15 accounts with them, from the 599.--/mth. to the 50-MB Premium Fiber Optic. Hardly ever any issues. If you don't care much for Central Pattaya's entertainment, head over to the dark-side, with hundreds of good deals, houses that can't be sold....;-) But stay within a good community and spend a few days/night-hours in the house before you commit.Definitely a buyers market. Good luck. I am considering moving South, possibly Phuket. So fed up with Pattaya.....MS>

it aint 100% reliable in Pattaya.

  3. Just go to Honda and get it fixed.Hondas don't have brake "Their All Like That" problems. That's reserved for Ford Trucks.

You just cannot help yourself can you. constant jibes make you a very tedious poster. please leave.

  4. By reading your OP, it seems more like you taught her that principle and she wanted your confirmation to know if she acted correct. Anyway, good on ya.

No I didn't. As I have said, it's rare for me to come across it anyway so it has never been an issue. She asked because she knew I was looking forward to a bulgogi style squid dinner. I was actually across at another vendor and did not witness the scene.

Hate to nitpick but in your OP you said after she blew up she grabbed your arm and you walked away which infers you were there, so were you with her or across the street? coffee1.gif

He said "across at another vendor" in post #6, given market ailes are rarely more than 2m wide he woukd have been within arms reach, so to speak. Thats how I read it anyway.

Yeah the OP reads to me as though he was right there with the wife.

  5. The black smoke comes from inadequate combustion in the engine. Full combustion usually burns the carbon into a lighter invisible gas which is expelled from the engine nevertheless.

Inadequate combustion comes from dirty engines and dirty filters and combustion adjustments that are wrong for the fuel used. In sum, poor maintenance.

    Really......

I could get my brand new Ranger to belch black smoke easily, are you saying it was sold new with a dirty engine and filters and poor maintenance ?

  6. OK I will take a punt, the Toyota has the 2.7 petrol lump and the D Max has the oil burner. Yep no contest.rolleyes.gif
Your punt has sunk ... here http://www.toyota.co.th/en/product-detail.php?model=vigo_double_cab&opt=spec play around on this site for all specs/prices/options

I think that you will fine 'like for like' that the New D-Max is more frugal than the Toyota.

Any petrol truck engine can be gassed and some offer CNG as standard.

If you search you will also find the Isuzu site.

You can also gas the diesel engines.

  7. he gave you a price you were happy with. what is the problem ?

Yeah, I was waiting for that point to be brought up.

It wasn't me, it was the wife. She doesn't see why we should be charged more. I don't see it either. Look at it the other way, the vendor was happy to receive the lower price, why should we give more? We are not a charity and the vendor is not destitute.

But actually off-topic because I'm not trying to discuss the ins and outs of 2-tier pricing.

Possibly the vendor gave a discount to a friend and the price qouted to your wife was the correct one.

  9. Heart of the matter: the system should be reformed in such a way that genuine tourists are not forced to do visa runs. Easy to say they should just get a tourist visa, but not everybody is so well informed/internet savvy/fluent in English.

Why is a genuine tourist doing a visa run ?...... I mean seriously A tourist can get a multi entry tourist visa that will allow a fairly long stay in the kingdom..... how many genuine tourist's go on holidays for months at a time ?

  10. Why not buy it directly from china? Cheaper and lots of options.

720p (1Megapixel) cameras can be found as low as 70-80 usd nowadays, why bother with VGA ones starting at 2000-3000 baht sold in Thailand?

Please provide a link where a 1mp pixel wireless day/night outdoor IP camera can be bought include shipping to Thailand at 70 - 80 US$ .

I will buy a truck load of them.

I have one unopened box tenvis iprobot 3 (bought extra) if you would like to buy locally.

This model is day/night (auto) with enough IR leds to lighten a normal size room. It does have android / ios apps to stream video and rotate camera aswell.

The cheapest wireless outdoor camera I can find on that site is 126$, or almost double of the price the ones at Panthip groundfloor. Still interested in the 70$ ones.

  11. Your non b visa is not tied to your work permit so I don't see why you have to leave the country to get a new one for another job.

Suspect from comments made to date that the OP has an Extension of Permission to Stay based on Teaching/Working in Thailand, this would have been obtained from a local Thai Immigration Department and thus no longer holds a current Non B Visa which would 99% of the time have been obtained outside of Thailand.

An Extension of Permission to Stay based on work/teaching will end with the specific job. whereas a Non Immigrant 'B' Visa is not bonded to a specific job and thus remains valid per se on leaving that employment.

Yes, I know the difference between a visa and a permission to stay extension. The OP said he had a visa hence I replied to that.

Appreciate you do know the difference, problem is that most do not.

Personally, I always try to emphasize the difference to help aid understanding for those that have issues to resolve.

Without any doubt, most foreigners in Thailand believe that Extensions of Permission to Stay are 'visas' and almost always describe them as such, leading to endless confusion.

Standing back and looking at both, it's a very subtle physical difference between them since both are stamps/stickers in the same passport, they allowing one to enter or stay for a certain period in country, but due to specific Thai regulations, the subsequent required actions/procedures to follow are very different indeed.

I think it should be mandatory for all people these types of questions to put up a picture of their actual stamp so there can be no confusion as to whether it is a visa or a permission to stay extension.

  12. It should be noted that I may live on a small amount of money per month (7,500 baht) but I most certainly do NOT pay for sex but enjoy the company of Ladies that actually like being with me for who I am.I do not wish to "pay a lady" every month just so she will live with me! So the total is now currently at 7,500 baht and "free sex" -God bless you all viewers! lol
