  1. I have a blackvue cam which has a capacitor. I also have the the blackvue power magic for it which allows the cam to still record when the vehicle is parked.

I believe the power magic could possibly be used for other capacitor based cams devices as well.

If I needed the dashcam recording when the car is stationary for some strange reason I wouldn't be messing around and wasting money on external battery packs, I'd just wire it in to a permanent supply from the car.

It is not an external battery pack. it is a module that hardwires in between the cam and the vehicle. It monitors the battery for low power levels then shuts down power to the cam so you do not get a flat battery.

The function of the camera I purchased it does not actually record whilst parked.

when it sense no activity for 5 minutes it goes into "parking mode" and comes alive again when the G sensor sensors activity. that could be a door opening or someone simply bumping the vehicle.

Anywho enjoy your K.I.S.S theory when you discover you have a flat battery.

Ah right, understood, a power management module. So one still has 24/7 watchdog capability pending the modules' protocols. Nice.

  2. So you are happy to have your car sitting there with a constant power drain that can reduce the battery below the starting threshold capacity.... Good for you.

And me "gimmicky gadgets" are neither from China or singapore.... thanks for the dig at me though... Would love to know who your other TV posting ID is as your style is very familiar, I just can't put my finger on it yet but with the insults flowing you will give yourself up sooner or later.

  3. Yes but with a capacitor you do not record when you car it parked.

I record during hours when the car is parked thanks to external battery.

  5. Yes, a Brit Teacher of limited funds stretched himself and bought a New Fiesta with a wankey box. Now traders and dealers know some are a prob he cant afford to change due to the lo PX offer. Now,if he had stuck to a Honda/ Toyo they would have fixed it without excuses. Dont know about Engine, your the Expert in that area.At least you wont get the Crap from Mazda like Ford gave You.

Mazda will serve the same crap if Iam in breach of their company policy in regards to vehicle warranty.

  6. Oh Dear, im not the Cruze Guy, that hurt. Can't disagree with what anyone says but the Civic. The Ford beats it hands down to the Dealer to get ignored about his broken Box n Engine.Yes the 3 is better, no Question , but i'm always cautious of mainstay Truck dealers, same with Mitsu / GM /Ford,.They only seem interested with Clonkers, with the exception of Toyo who seem to have the right balance of Trained personnel on Benzine and Oil. I getto take a few different rides for service, and i must say Toyota and Honda win hands down.coffee1.gif

you repeatedly keep harping on about this broken box and engine and the Ford dealer.

Can you elaborate on what you are talking about.

  7. The new Ford Ranger and the Mazda BT50 are, as others have posted, nigh on identical and both vehicles are highly rated. I know owners of both and all are extremely happy with them. Well worth a gander IMHO

The Ranger and BT-50 are mechanically the same. actual vehicle calibration differs a lot between the two.

I'm not in the motor trade. What is 'vehicle calibration'?.

The way the drivetrain and vehicle dynamics are tuned by either Ford or Mazda are not the same.

  8. Nearest ive cme to running into someones rear has been for 2 Reasons. Firstly , not reading set ups for hours .Secondly fiddling with the bloody gadgets when driving. Sat Navs, Cameras,Music,Phones ive given upon now im older. That Camera Sucker would fall off in a week ,just like my old Garmin.thumbsup.gif

Buy yourself a top spec mazda 3. it won't allow you to run into the car in front.... as long as you are doing 30km/h or less.

On topic though I just fitted a blackvue wifi dr550gw-2ch camera set-up to my car. works a treat, video quality is amazing. After 5 minutes of inactivity it goes into parking mode (it records 24/7, but will switch off when vehicle battery level is low to prevent flat battery) and comes alive when movement is detected. The wifi has a range of about 10 metres so I can sit here at my desk and open the app on my phone and see what is happening with the car or play back vids already recorded.

    Where did you purchase Spoonman?

  9. What model is your BT-50.

Top model 2.2l manual. I've asked for the airbags, to no avail. Other than that all included, ABS, also all leather. Doesn't make sense to me, that there are no airbags available. The reverse sensors I added myself, really helpful.

So no airbags at all, not even front bags for the driver and passenger ?

Thats weird as we have a few 2.2 Manual BT-50's here at work and they all have airbags.

    Are they the Hi-racer model?

    Yeah Hi-Racer.

  11. They also don't come with airbags and reverse sensors, unlike the Ozzie version.

I was surprised to learn today that none of the Mazda BT50 model come equipped with sat/nav.

They do come with airbags just not as many as the Ozzie version. If Mazda/Ford thought there is a customer base in Thailand for a full spec vehicle at 1.5 to 1.8 million baht they would be offering it....

Instead they know nobody here will pay that coin for a pickup hence the fitted features are not the same.
