  1. Yes I know silly boy etc etc but I want to remove a tattoo I have on my wrist. The problem is it’s got green and red in it and I’ve been told special lasers are required,

Anyone have experience with tattoo removal and recommend any places where they do it ?

  2. If she is thai, look at AIA Insurance.

First point, AIA can be used by anyone - not just Thais

Second, AIA is not a general/medical insurance company - only a Life insurance company. The way they get around the rules is to bundle Life cover with the medical.

Bottom line, you are paying for something you did not ask for.

  3. Ah sorry - in that case where is the problem ? You have valid CTPL insurance from the previous 'year' so when you ask for your new Tax you show them the 2009 to 2010 cover wich expires on Feb 5th. i.e. your CTPL is valid for the purpose of renewing the Tax.

Problem is that bureaucrats sometimes want all document dates to "match" in order to "simplify" their lives. :)

So I was wonderin if anyone had experienced this similar situation before.

Not necessary to have same dates, I think you are worrying too much

  4. Nothing special here as the 2 + 1 you mentioned is available from many insurance companies and I feel it would be very silly to deal with a bank when this sort of insurance is available elsewhere.

Have you thought what would happen if you had a claim and needed help ? Forget the bank, better to go via a Broker and save money in the long run.

  5. Seems to me you have the prefect scenario.

Your Tax will finish on Jan 18 2011 and you will have renewed your CTPL on 5th Jan 2011 - 13 days before.

Nope, CTPL will have renewed on Feb 5, not Jan 5; or 18 days after road tax renewal date.

Anyway, I gave the documents to the guy on our soi who does the "service" for me (and who has done this service ever since, for all the Thais who live in the soi) and he said it's "no problem". So let's just see tomorrow evening how it goes. If not, I can always go to Axa and have the date changed, and then go back to the "service" guy.

    :)

  6. Hmmm... :)

    Maybe I should've been clearer.

My new road tax is from Jan 18, 2010 to Jan 18 2011

My new CTPL is from Feb 5, 2010 to Feb 5, 2011; my old CTPL expires Feb 5, 2010

Therefore, the new CTPL starts on the very day that the old CTPL expires, so I am always covered by CTPL. However, the dates on the CTPL and Road Tax documents will not be exactly the same.

    Any experiences with this? :D

Therefore you will be able to go along to the registration dept. on the correct date with your new CTPL and buy the Tax :D

  7. Saw them pouring it in the gutter on Soi 8, that should be and indicator of its taste. :)

Lol, it truly does taste like sh_it...

All the big supermarkets have it.

    Tom.

Can't agree, tastes good to me. Tried finding it in Tesco's and they don't stock it :D Anyone seen it anywhere ?

  8. Am I missing something here ? There are good medical insurance policies available in Thailand which foreigners (and Thais) can buy.

Why deplete the already poorly funded medical service which is used by the poor when, as a foreigner, one can very well afford a good level of medical insurance ?

  9. Now, this place on Sukhumnvit, Naklua, opposite Homemart. This isn't the large, smart place with a very large parking lot, the workshops at the back and the office in a block near the front is it? If so, I had one good experience there, and one scandalous experience. It's some time since I went there (before CRP, and for the wife's Jazz), but before I malign them, I want to make sure we are talking about the same place.

I guess we are talking about the same place, your discription about the building is correct however the parking can host about 10 cars so I don't consider that a very large parking lot.

Visited Pattaya Garage yesterday to book my car in for a few scratches to be sorted out.

Service quite good, maybe 20 mins start to finish BUT the time quoted for the work is very bad. Keep in mind I requested the end of January so as not to get mixed up with the New Year nonsense, they quoted 7 days for which in the west would take 2 days at the outside. Very poor and keep in mind the time should you be needing your vehicle or having to rent.

  10. Get it from this site

    bold9700thai.webs.com

I got one from this guy, he gets it direct from the UK, unbranded and factory unlocked.

Make sure you call his number and speak to him, nice guy very helpful, speaks perfect english too.

From the UK you can buy for the equivalent of 20,000 Baht. However what do you do if there are problems - where do you send it ? Better to spend another 1,700 Baht (or less) and buy one locally - here's one example (not the cheapest but very good servivce) and they have shops in many locations : http://www.winnertelecom.co.th/main/
