Has anybody heard of "Excise Duty" What is that ?
Thanks,
luudee
Is it a battery? If so it's probably a tax levied on batteries due to the possible environmental impact (or other reason)

If the footwear was portrayed on top of someones head, that would be extremely offensive.

Think he's probably getting nailed hard , and right so .
He had a public function as a touristpolice volunteer , he should be a helpinghand and and example for society .
If he is innocent and its a setup I feel very sorry for him ,
Can you provide the evidence to prove his innocence ? If so, I think you should let the prosecutor know.
Really, it's just another example of a wannabe who deserves what he gets.

Maybe she was employed as the 'manager'
totster
One of my ex-colleagues was a restaurant/bar manager. Earned a lot more than 30k
I'm not saying she was the manager, but that's how the work permit was obtained.

Ah, you can read Thai?
Strange question, not sure why it's relevant.. but I can with a bit of effort, although my vocabulary and understanding of tone rules lets me down.

The norm is to get to the temple so the monks can deal with 'it'.

Short visit ! Certainly not long enough to truly learn something about life outside of tourist-hubs.
Nevermind, OP will not qualify for a retirement visa just yet.
Cheers

I live in Kalasin,
Mossies - If their house is a brick house with no visible gaps at the top (between walls and roof) you will be probable be fine without a mosquito net, as long as the room you are staying in is clean and kept shut during the day/evening - a spray an hour before you go to bed will also help.
If the house is an old wooden house, then there are normally lots of gaps for the mosquitoes to get in (even if the downstairs has been bricked in), so in this case I suggest a net.
Yes, take them shopping if you can. Sure, you could go to Tesco Lotus, but that's kind of a farang place. Take them to the central Kalasin city market. They'll find everything they want there and have fun, and you'll find the visit quite educationalBullshit, the family will prefer Tesco/Big C than the local market.
You will find Kalasin quiet but fun, and if you need an English (Swedish, German, Norweigan, Welsh) conversation or some comfort food go and find Scott's bar by the bus station (stand outside 7-11, with the shop behind you and look forward, can't miss it). If you need a friend please feel free to PM me.

Yet, on the other hand, one man can shut down Bangkok for a few weeks with no consequences.

Is it usual for a runway to have such undulations ?

Anyone who reads my post will know I am very pro Thai and very seldom knock any of the but this Veera Sriwattanakul must have sh!t for brains.
They would be as well putting a sign up say Please Break The Law because no Thai who likes a beer or six will pay the least bit of attention to this unless they are in dager of being caught..
They would need an army of police to enforce this so why not use that army in another way.
Don't ban drink use the don't drink and drive laws they have already.
Set up road blocks and breathalse the obvious............they aren't that hard to spot.......a load of youngsters in the back of a pick-up. Obviously you couldn't breat test everyone.
A campagn saying no one will be able to drive through Hua Hin during Songkran without passing a breath test will make them think twice about driving at least driving back drunk after a day on the booze...
If they don't have the manpower to do that then hey don't have they manpower to check the hundreds of places that sell drink.
I'll give them 5 for trying
I haven't read any of your posts, including this one now (well, I read the first line and didn't bother with the rest)

Thing is... I saw this article somewhere else and, there is no ban. It's just a suggestion... note the wording "to focus on an alcohol-free festival". There will still be alcohol consumed in stupid amounts no doubt.
LOL - poor ole Fred has cancelled his holiday 55555555

I just canceled my reservation for the resort in Hua Hin for 4 rooms (4 foreigners + wifes). We have decided to go somewhere where there is no ban on alcohol.
So Hua Hin businesses will receive at least 100.000 THB less this year. (3 nights @ 3980/room) Stupid government !!!
That'll teach em !!!

I paid 60bt yesterday, and I get a fantastic service, including a 'cut throat' razor shave. The only thing that makes me cringe is when he shaves my forehead... (and only because it is a strange feeling)

Smoking in a cockpit is a serious breach of security in my opinion.
Can you explain how the plane is less secure as a result of the pilot smoking (if indeed he was).

You ARE joking, I presume? Nobody has EVER died from so-called 'second-hand smoke'. That is one of the biggest cons ever perpetrated on the world, and has been comprehensively demolished.
http://acsh.org/2013/12/two-stories-one-link-found-secondhand-smoke-lung-cancer-one-seems-care/
I read the article you linked to. Then I read the following:
http://www.nhs.uk/chq/pages/2289.aspx?categoryid=53&
http://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/tobaccocancer/secondhand-smoke
http://www.webmd.com/smoking-cessation/effects-of-secondhand-smoke
http://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/data_statistics/fact_sheets/secondhand_smoke/general_facts/
My conclusion? There is a good chance I will survive being hit by a new car travelling below 30mph. Funnily enough I still look both ways before crossing the road and don't think "Oh, that's a lovely new 5 star NCAP rated car travelling below 30, here I go". Same here, I accept that the links might be "weak" but even this article still admits a link. I quit smoking 12 years ago and have looked after myself VERY well since then. If smokers want to ruin their lives they can but I don't want the "risk" of cancer from 2nd hand smoke.
Back on the point this pilot has a HUGE duty of responsibility, is paid accordingly and has demonstrated that he is not deserving. If the OP has decent evidence then I suggest he push this for the safety of the 100s of 1,000s of passengers who choose Nok Air each year.
Actually, the article that 'nisakiman' linked states that the risk could be lower than thought, it does not support that posters 'fact' that "Nobody has EVER died from so-called 'second-hand smoke'."
Kind of makes their post worthless, irrelevant and downright stupid.

So how about some empathy for the poor thai's operating those food stalls.
How about some empathy for those poor Thai's only receiving the minimum wage, or worse still not even getting that.

Kalasin: where to stay or grab a beer?
in Isaan
Posted
Scott's Bar is pretty much opposite the bus station in Kalasin. Stand with 7-11 behind you and look forward, you will see the sign (scotts-kalasin.com). Plenty of hotels around that area and near the lake (a short walk from the bus station) around 400-600bt per night.
PM me if you fancy meeting for a beer.
