  1. Seems every thing has been said, a sugary soft drink will promote diabetes later in life for most Thais, in the states every supermarket has almost every soft drink they sell available in low cal i.e. No sugar, sadly as the Thai hi sos own most of the sugar production they don't give a shit about the adverse effects of consumption, the only thing that motivates most Thais I have met is money, including the village where I live in Korat, a farang means money , and so many think it's normal for a farang to just give money away to anyone who asks.. I mention this as it also normal for most lowly educated Thais to spoon sugar on everything they eat.. But hey this is Thailand and we are really meant to just shut up..

bit of a rant I agree but some things including sugar consumption just piss me off.

why these ridiculous accidents became as a yearly custom?

taking hundreds of lives and many of them are innocents just got killed because of the reckless driving of drunk guys,

imposing harder restrictions and punishment may help to reduce these catastrophic fatal events.

It will never happen , your average worker does not make enough money to pay a heavy fine  or to pay for a license or insurance, it's the whole country to blame for keeping the lower class down.

R.I.P.  Too young to meet such an end. The only thing about this that concerns me, apart from how he died, is that the story says NO valuables were found in his room.

Surely he must have had a wallet, a phone, a passport, camera? What happened to all of it? That none of these were found, to me suggests possible foul play.

Also when did go go bars turn into hotels, the rooms above are for screwing, just another farang taking flying lessons in Pattaya.

myself being an ex pilot I really do wonder why none of these students graduate.

This passport replacement is a common procedure - I have done myself several times as have thousands of others and never has any payment been requested if paperwork in order.  Believe some have been asked to pay for copies required if they did not have available but there are normally no issues, other than a request for your Embassy to provide verification of passport perhaps (such as a letter asking for service).

Perhaps you never had it done in Hua Hin, I remonstrated with the guy, he then changed pens to finish his job. Next time I went through swampy I was hauled in as they suspected my passport was a forgery, I explained to them what happened and they agreed  it was probably done deliberately.

Unless you require temp passport for emergency travel you must apply for a new passport at Embassy and will need to make appointment (passports are issued in USA so will take week to 10 days).  It will be valid for when issued for 10 years and once done Embassy will provide a letter that you take to immigration to transfer information of your visa and current stay.

Full information here - you will also need passport photos.

Also be aware immigration use these situations to scammoney very likely they will charge you five hundred baht with no receipt and tell you it's a service fee.

One thing most Thai governments, and more specifically, the junta, can do well, is to completely screw things up for the people.

Bringing in new rules for vans and pick-ups on the eve on the nations largest movement of Thais, shows a complete lack of common sense.

3-6 months prior and it may have been a lot different and allowing people to make alternate travel plans.

I would not say a lack of commen sense , I would say these idiots are totally brain dead, maybe why they want to buy some cheap submarines.

    Buy lots of ice!!!

    Icey water on the back

Gives the Thai's a heart attack.

Drink on the street wearing my wife beater.

Shout at people in English using rare swear words the Thais don't understand.

Use the talcum powder rub down to get a cheap feel.

Put some dance music on very loud.

    Laugh, scream, shout and play.

    Increase the medication.

  8. Hi Kano we live in Korat but lived for six years in Hua Hin, many times go to relax in Prachuap , was there again six weeks ago, love the beach love the food, sadly no good hospitals  or schools, sorry if this is off your post just wanted to say hi.

  9. God am seventy three and need help how to cross a road, I never knew that, many thanks for the advice, I live in Korat which is no different from any where else in Thailand, confronting traffic as a pedestrian is a life challenge. Driving in Thailand is a challenge for survival, living with a Thai lady is a challenge, surviving in a country where nobody gives a shit about you is a life challenge.

still we choose to live here as opposed to a nanny state.

And of course be aware of the 'turn left' rule at red traffic lights!

Just because it is a one way street and all the cars and bikes etc; have stopped it does not preclude a vehicle from turning left against the red light if it safe to do so at junctions that allow it.

And they will turn right irrespective on any sign. Saying allowed or not.
