  1. And as noted low carb diets have always mandated whole foods, specifically including veggies as one of the whole foods. It appears you don't really know anything about low carb (very few here do), yet typically want to express uninformed opinions or implications about it. Go read the primary sources themselves, as I have. So that's about it, my point made; believe as you wish, based on uninformed or biased popular opinion. I'm already involved in a tiresome little bickerfest with a naive agenda-driven member over in the IT forum and that's enough for now.
  2. Predictably, our old keyboard warriors immediately turned the topic into a Thai-bashing thread. But the OP was spot on. It didn't promise champagne on a beer budget, however, as we'd all much prefer. Me, been happy living in Pattaya for over 2 decades. Gettin' ready for a walk on the beach now. Russian hotties! ???? Enjoy the bashfest.
  3. 10 has been the most stable version of Windows I've ever had, going all the way back to 95. Seen a lot of blue screens over the years. Part of the reason is that 10 is the best at finding drivers that work. It helps that hardware has become more standardized and reliable.
  4. Low carb, even keto, can be plant based, though they commonly aren't, as there's no real reason for them to be. Low carb did "whole foods" long before whole foods diets did whole foods. Whole foods were central to low carb diets from their inception. Mandated in Atkins, in fact.
  5. So every time you want to login here or to any other website, you gotta open VC, tell it the name of your file to mount (unless you save history), enter your password for your VC file, enter the VC container, then open the password file w/ editor or viewer, locate the ANF password, copy it, then close the file, close the VC container, go back to the ANF login screen, type in your username and then paste in your password. Comfortable indeed. What else is there to do all day?
  6. Low carb's always good, however.
  7. We've heard that for decades. Farang have been perpetually heading for the exits like rats deserting a sinking ship. All condo owners have always been desperate to sell. Say anything good about Thailand, and you're trying to talk up the market. All the ANF Poster Economic Indicators of Thailand's economic health have been perpetually flashing red for decades: the lights on at night count, shopping bag count, the red plates count, the lines at the bank count, the Stalls of Doom in front of the shopping malls. The INSANE rise in visa fees in 2003 started the mass exit of the great Golden Egg Layers. Without the provided Golden Eggs, Thais had to leave the cities and go back to working in the rice fields. Pattaya was pronounced Dead around that time, with portentous Dire Warnings issued in the Letter Bag of the Pattaya Mail at least 6 years before. With COVID, the Last of the Last Nails In the Coffin was identified with utter certainty. Are there any farang left by now? Yep, those few will soon be scrabbling among the ruins for scraps. Run, Forest, Run!
  8. But those are basic and brainless, little more than arcade games, none ranked among the best PC games of all time that you haven't tried. https://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/score/metascore/all/pc/filtered No FPS, no RPGs. Why not try the Call Of Duty series, Deus Ex series, or Skyrim.
  9. Of course it did. Win 7 been on mind a lot lately as I'm involved in upgrading a friend's PC from 7 to 10. Brain fart; I stayed on XP until Win 7 had been out a while. Loved my XP, too. Had to admit Win 7 was a significant advancement.
  10. As I told you, the company explicitly refused to defend the part of the comment about "last version." It did generally support his comments about M'soft moving towards Windows-as-service. Forbes isn't totally lying, but certainly exaggerating, which the gullible, such as yourself, swallowed and repeated as if means something. Note that you still haven't given any verification on any offical M'soft page, because you can't. AGAIN: that was never an official policy. Even if it were, it would merely undermine your point by implying that Win 10 was a flop. Such is your logical arguing, blathering and wasting time. As I noted, M'soft factored in that older machines wouldn't meet the Win 11 requirements. Impossible it wouldn't. Tired of just going around and around in circles? Windows Update performs a strict check on the machine as it is currently configured. Explaining how older machines that do meet bare minimum TPM requirements can be configured, or can be upgraded, to run Windows 11 falls into the category of routine tech support--but really for more advanced users. Nothing about the initial official installation of Win 11 via Windows Update or from the Media Creation Tool has been made easier in any way. No change, no backflip, no flop.
  11. Not worried about it for the purpose of playing an audiobook. You ain't gettin' much for B600, a given. No real problem if so. Want more, pay more. Since the OP's so cost conscious, I gave him the minimum. It'll play an audiobook. That suggestion should get the ball rolling. Big Spenders (with other people's money) may jump in to suggest the usual Nvidia Shield or--a heavenly NUC. A NUC running Windows 11.????
  12. I had a friend who died of a heart attack at age 57 in his kitchen. He'd waddled downstairs late one night and collapsed on the floor while making himself a sandwich. Good reason not to make sandwiches.
  13. I don't see any Audiobook Reader2 in the Playstore: https://play.google.com/store/search?q=Audiobook+Reader2&c=apps&hl=en_US&gl=US The Audiobook Reader narrates e-book files in the form of .epub, .mobi, etc. But a serious audiobook reader will allow you to create bookmarks. So you create one when you start and then at the end of 15 or 20 min. Or in between. That should allow you to find the place where you fell asleep rather quickly. It'd be cool if the audiobook reader would let you create automatically a series of bookmarks at 5 minute intervals. Another possibility is to create a cue sheet for your MP3 file as described here: https://www.mymusictools.com/articles/how-do-i-create-a-cue-sheet.htm. So you can create your own chapters automatically at precise 5 minute intervals, and those should be helpful for quickly finding the right place to restart the next night. However, it takes an audio player to understand cue sheets. Here's a phone under B1000 that might at least play audio: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/1-100-opp0-a96-5g-75-2-smartphone-4g5g-16gb-512gb-android110-mobile-phone-a16-i4342263279-s17305152004.html My last suggestion is just to buy a cheap Android TV box like this for under B600: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/tv-box-mxq-pro-ram8rom128gb-wifi-android-10-8khd-tv-box-disney-hotstar-youtube-netflix-box-i3943805534-s15216241607.html But it needs a display: monitor or TV. You can put your book & audiobook app there or for a player use the Kodi (bookmarks!). Pair that with a Bluetooth speaker as described above. Start the book, turn off the monitor or TV, then later turn off the box w/ its remote. Connect the box to the 'net, add Qbittorent, and you can download torrents directly to the box (or attached storage). Guess that's all I got to say on the subject. Good luck.
  14. . Amen! Strongly identify with all of this, did the same as kid. Still learning all the time. Got an interesting new project coming up that I'll report on in due course.
  15. How would you know, unless you played the others?
  16. The Guys is a hallowed Principle of ANF Longevity Science, often referenced as an excuse. 4. The Guys I know some guys who seemed healthy but have already died. Yah, yah. We have no idea how healthy The Guys really were. They weren't overweight or by much, certainly not relative to yourself, LOL. We didn't see the medical history or the blood reports or the scans; many didn't even have the scans that would reveal preventable issues, rather like yourself, refusing to get the blood work. The running guru Jim Fixx died young because he ignored his previous history and the signs he had a problem. He may have lived longer than otherwise. But cardio doesn't automatically fix pre-existing problems, like calcification. We also don't know about any congenital problems. Maybe The Guys didn't either. A brain aneurysm feels no obligation to announce itself before it suddenly kills you. And we don't have a record of the actual diets The Guys were following. Perhaps like James Fixx, they figured as long as their weight was down, they could run, they felt OK, then they could just eat anything. But no. Cardio alone may not get rid of that visceral fat. A good scan will tell that story. But you don't have their scans or even your own numbers, LOL. This phenomena—sometimes known as skinny-fat, or “normal-weight obesity”—may affect up to one-fourth of normal weight people, according to one 2008 study. “They look healthy, but when we check them out they have high levels of body fat and inflammation,” says Ishwarlal Jialal, MD, director of the Laboratory for Atherosclerosis and Metabolic Research at UC Davis Health System. “They’re at high risk for diabetes and cardiovascular problems, but you wouldn’t know it from their appearance.” --https://www.health.com/condition/obesity/5-signs-you-might-be-skinny-fat Indeed, one in four slim people have pre-diabetes and are 'metabolically obese’, according to research. Also known as ‘skinny fat’ or Metabolically Obese Normal Weight, they have an unhealthy amount of fat around their organs. This visceral fat can be more metabolically dangerous than subcutaneous fat - which lies directly unde your skin - and it can increase insulin resistance and inflammation. --https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/health/848957/heart-disease-high-blood-pressure-fat-obesity Maybe they overdid it. Maybe they had bad luck. As with the Genetics Voodoo, it's not clear how one is to know long in advance whether he’s one of The Guys or not, and can safely smoke, drink, pigout, and couch sit in expectation of an inevitable early death. So of what use are these anecdotes? And The Guys I know who didn't follow a healthy lifestyle all died relatively young, with one exception. He's very careful about his meds, however, and does get some exercise. He MAY have the genes. Still a bit early to know for sure.???? Meanwhile, the stats are on the side of a healthy lifestyle, no matter The Guys or The Relative or George Burns. I'll go with stats. Oh, and I have a happy life, too. ????
  17. So far, since you bring it up, I'm not impressed.???? Saying so ain't doing. Anyway, I didn't give you any advice, which you'd merely (and now, noisily) ignore, but dared disagree with another poster's "Well done." Throwing money around as a Big Spender helps create a moral hazard and is partly responsible for Thais' expectations that farang are ATMs. And we complain about that just all the time around here. Noobs are obviously members or tourists w/o much experience in dealing w/ the Thai transportation matrix AND who need or want to be careful about their spending. Older members often advise even against tipping. Yours for the Win Honesty Project, Big Daddy (capital 'D').
  18. They don't do import and customs fees. That's on you. However, maybe there's a deal between Aliexpress and Thailand, 'cause I've never paid any duties for items costing up to about B6000. Very different when it's Amazon for amounts much less than that. I dunno how far you can push it. Somebody w/ a different experience may weigh in.
  19. Nonsense. A typical rationalization for doing nothing. No matter the self-serving Genetics Voodoo, studies show that you can. At age 50, the life expectancy free of any of these chronic diseases was 23.5 (22.3 to 24.7) years among men who adopted no low risk lifestyle factors and 31.1 (29.5 to 32.5) years in men who adopted four or five low risk lifestyle factors. . . . Adherence to a healthy lifestyle at mid-life is associated with a longer life expectancy free of major chronic diseases. --Healthy lifestyle and life expectancy free of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes: prospective cohort study The way to increase healthspan, postponing metabolic diseases, is always the same: Don’t be fat Lift weights Do cardio Eat healthy Don't smoke Drink only moderately, if at all Get enough sleep Socialize Avoid air pollution It appears the longevity genes, if you happen to have them, only kick in around age 70, if you make it that far. What they do is--postpone metabolic disease, same as you can do to a great extent with a healthy lifestyle. Mere projection and usual sour grapes we often hear. You hear anyone healthy and fit regretting being so? Nah. You never hear, "Sure wish I was waddling around weak and fat (when I can get out of my recliner), carrying around a belly, chasing docs & meds, and worrying about my BP, ED, cholesterol, diabetes, arteriosclerosis, heart disease, etc." In fact, they're happy to feel strong, lean, and healthy and wish to continue feeling that way. No, they're not living a hard life.???? Laughable.
  20. Which he should have. Not asking gives the impression you're an easy mark and invites an overcharge. Some drivers can resist the temptation, to be sure; what percentage, I dunno. A practice to be discouraged in any case, esp. for our noobs. Then "well done" or not isn't your business.
  21. How to Fix a Bulging Disc (NO SURGERY!) Addresses the listing to one side issue. Other vids have standard back strengthening exercises. At the gym, prefer to use the machines that give more back support. Most people can't do deadlifts or squats properly, so use the leg press machine. Instead of cable rows, use the seated row machine. Etc.
  22. Been using Aliexpress a few years, good experience, pay by credit card. Out of maybe a hundred orders, I got a refund on an item that didn't show up (vendor issue) and another on a poor quality item--small amounts. Negotiated a 50% discount on shirt sent the wrong size. That's it. Website much better than Lazada's or Shopee's. Good prices, usually better than Lazada for the same thing + free shipping in many cases. Reviews a bit more trustworthy, lots of Russians who'll freely criticize, though usually admit that they got what they paid for. Chat function works, vendors responsive. So the downside is the delay in arriving. You'll get used to it. Now sometimes things can arrive a week or so early. Thai post office unfairly maligned--I think they're pretty good, nothing's gone missing. They called me a couple of times when a shipment arrived in a damaged box. But the items themselves were OK, so I accepted.
  23. Are you saying that your books aren't actually audiobooks but e-books that Audiobook Reader2 is reading for you? If that's the case, you can easily just scan the text for the last bit you remember and reset Audiobook Reader2 to start again from that point?
  24. Improperly done. First, you pay the correct fare and he accepts it, returning change if needed. Then you offer a tip for good service AND being honest.
