New honda PCX 160: Where to buy ? (Pattaya)
BigStar replied to Spellforce's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Nonsense. My Thai gf caught and fined. -
Is it okay to keep my external harddrive connected to my PC 24/7?
BigStar replied to Furioso's topic in IT and Computers
Anything can crap out anytime it pleases. Long as you keep your backups (backup the backup) current, you're good. With external drives, before the HDD craps out (modern drives are more reliable these days), I've seen issues with the connectors. Sometimes a simple spray with electrical contact cleaner is enough. Sometimes get loose. Seen issues with the little adapter board. You can always take the drive out and fit it into another external USB case. Some manufactures don't like that idea and make it a bit more difficult. Can work around that annoyance, however. -
Government finds itself backed into a corner on digital wallet scheme
BigStar replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Agreed. This is obviously a scheme, and vote buying. The gov't will pay back the loan with baht cheapened by inflation, while borrowing more in the meantime. Hope the BOT stands firm, at least. -
Welsh Father Faces Life-changing Reality After Thailand Holiday Accident
BigStar replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The accident also served as a harsh lesson in safety and preparedness. Lee credits his survival to wearing a helmet and wisely choosing comprehensive travel insurance. His smashed helmet looks like a typical plastic Thai pot. Amazing what a good job it did. Not quite as worthless as our helmet snobs claim. He probably didn't expect such an accident. 'Course, nobody does. Wear the best helmet available to you, better, hopefully, than the plastic pot. -
What reason? Seems plenty going on in the UK. For example, around London: Doggers reveal best places for sex with strangers - including spots next to children's centre and church For perspective: British people are breaking the law more and more, with the top crime shockingly being Brits having sex in a public place. Nearly half of all people surveyed admitted to having had sex somewhere illegal, with nearly 10 per cent claiming it is a regular past time. The top crime admitted to by the nation was speeding, coming in second was having sex in a public space and thirdly was dropping litter. --Over HALF Brits having sex in a public place and breaking the law... are YOU? So, could well be Brits again this time, except these don't seem fat enough.

Chinese Man Falls to His Death From Pattaya Condo
BigStar replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
You see, they realize they've at last reached Heaven. Life can never get better than in Pattaya. Nothing more is worth achieving. And the thought of going home or moving elsewhere is unbearable. It's long been ackknowledged, nothing new here. @Addicted2Pattaya on 2008-10-13 00:39:08: If pattaya did die. where would be the next best place ? @Sommaz on 2008-10-13 10:47:57: Heaven of course. Best to depart now in the state of bliss. To paraphrase an old poem floating around in the 60s, This is IT This is really IT. And THAT is THAT. -
Well, life’s bleak when you gotta sweat paying rent, pay higher electric bills, and pray the market don’t crash so’s that little 7% can keep coming in for the next 30 – 40 years. What can one do other than envy and obsess and seek self-reassurance in sour grapes, hoping for the better future others have already achieved? Skint, you couldn’t afford and didn't have time for the finer things in life, such as Cats, though it played in West End for over 20 years. Me, I saw it on Broadway. Thank gawd you do have footy and its associated pub blather for entertainment. Haw. But great scene in Cats with Rum Tum Tugger, who's, inevitably, quite a monger. Difference is, he don’t need to pay, as our renters do. Now really: he's very much like some of our forum posters, running around Pattaya. Oh, we all stand on the shoulders o' them dead giant blokes, in your case, unknown blokes. But give yourself credit for scholarly achievement, man. It was probably in your council estate, or perhaps in your local authority primary school, that you learned from some anonymous bloke the simple Economic Principle informing your most excellent financial scheme for future wealth, in which renting, escaping threats, is critical. Remember?

I might mention that situps and crunches have a bad rep for your back, and I personally found that rep justified. Not recommended. I do maybe 4 leg raises with isometric holds of 60+ sec each; and 2 pikes, similarly. Sufficient for keeping the abs tight.

The rate at which your hotness diminishes for her will be largely determined by how well you maintain it. Now, you probably want her to tell you the truth rather than just what you want to hear. Probably. Imperative to stay well hydrated. Last thing I do before heading out to the gym, after preparing the post-workout protein drink, is to fill the water bottle. Now one advantage of working out at home is that you control your own AC. I miss that aspect, plus my music and vids. It's doable, but I also like some features of the gym. P. D. Mangan It's a whole different game for seniors. Gotta forget bodybuilding and all the hype surrounding it. That market's for young men trying to impress the babes. Seems you have, to your credit. The game then is to achieve fitness without injury. Steve Maxwell, senior trainer, has a great article on this: Dear Over-45 Trainee A good workout -- a really good strength workout -- can be completed in between 20-30 minutes, even less if it's intense enough. I like to use a job analogy: all strength-training workouts take you to about the same place, more or less, in about five years, approximately the same muscularity, and body weight size and strength, but some guys are spending a couple hours at the gym everyday, versus other people spending as little as an hour at the gym every week. There's a lot to say on this subject; the devil is in the details. I won't waste much time here on it, just fall on deaf ears as usual. If interested, you can look up Doug McGuff (greatest consolidator), Drew Baye, Ken Hutchins, Steve Maxwell, Dorian Yates, Mike Mentzer, P. D. Mangan, and The Architect, Arthur Jones. In short, just do a full body routine twice a week. Realistically, takes me 45 min in the gym, more or less, including 10 min of intervals on a recumbent bike. There's waiting for equipment, setting up machines, water breaks, ogling wimmen, whatever. 🙂 It's very simple. Light weights, super slow lifting, breathing continually, no holding your breath;; no warmup needed One set to failure about 90 sec; hold 3 sec at peak contraction Use isometrics or timed static contractions to protect joints that need it. P. D. Mangan's routine: front grip pulldown leg press calf raise chest press dips seated row overhead press lateral raise EZ bar curl deadlift Deadlifts are problematic, I don't do those. I do back hyperextensions and reverse. My shoulders don't like dips or chest flys. I do triceps pulldowns and isometric chest flyss. Skip long, slow cardio: Martin Gibala's classic research on interval training: Short-term sprint interval versus traditional endurance training: similar initial adaptations in human skeletal muscle and exercise performance

Unfortunately, Zane’s wariness of heavy training was eventually justified, as his shoulders, knees, and lower back all suffered. “Use poor form in an exercise with heavy weight and your chances of injury multiply,” he said. Thus, later in his competitive days, he was forced to return to light training. “Now I carefully avoid heavy work involving the back and knees,” he said in an article in 1988. --https://www.muscleandfitness.com/athletes-celebrities/news/frank-zane-best-built-man/

Romanian Tourist Falls to Death from Pattaya Hotel Balcony

The Rum Tum Tugger is a Curious Cat: If you offer him pheasant he would rather have grouse. If you put him in a house he would much prefer a flat, If you put him in a flat then he'd rather have a house. If you set him on a mouse then he only wants a rat, If you set him on a rat then he'd rather chase a mouse. Yes the Rum Tum Tugger is a Curious Cat— And there isn't any call for me to shout it: For he will do As he do do And there's no doing anything about it! The Rum Tum Tugger is a terrible bore: When you let him in, then he wants to be out; He's always on the wrong side of every door, And as soon as he's at home, then he'd like to get about. He likes to lie in the bureau drawer, But he makes such a fuss if he can't get out. --T. S. Eliot

How does one explain color to a blind man? Best thing to do is order yourself a pair, or a few pairs, of elephant pants and try them out. Cheap as 32 baht/pair on Lazada. You may love 'em and find that people will start warming up to you and smiling more.

That was too much then, and it'd be too much now. You need to learn to exercise efficiently. Pareto Principle: 20% of the work, 80% of the benefits. Why's that? Guess you can either man up or plan to enter the nursing home early--or just a hospital ward for the fast track departure, as is the Thai way. P. D. Mangan's almost 69, works out 30 min twice weekly, no cardio or a little spin bike. https://twitter.com/Mangan150/status/1754168816408666257 (Musk requires a login). Follows McGuff's principles in Body By Science. As you age, staying fit becomes more important than ever. Just falls are the leading cause of death by injury for over-65s. So, rationally, you'd want to sustain that as long as possible. Health uncertainty is asymmetric in that any sudden unforeseen health events as you age are generally negative. You don't suddenly have an 'anti-stroke' or 'anti-heart attack'. Actively retain health or it degrades. --GuruAnaerobic You don't let the wife determine your health & fitness for you. Wives point the way to early graves, seen that a few times. You might tell her you're not OK with how she looks and she should start dieting and exercising. Anyway, docs, pharmacies, and hospitals will be happy to learn of your decision.

Yeah, by that time, even with your inflated sense of your own financial expertise, you surely should be able to afford a condo without sweating the loss of that hoped-for 7% you need to build capital.

Trump is dominating the primaries. That doesn’t mean he’ll beat Biden
BigStar replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Looking more like Trump won't beat Biden simply because Biden won't be running. The Hur report cited his poor memory (dementia) as reason he can't be prosecuted. Today mixed up the presidents of Mexico and Egypt. Dem operatives seem to be becoming increasingly negative on Biden. But then--WHO? Harris? -
