  1. I'm thinking of subscribing to broadband. From your experience, which one should I go with?

    Factors:

    - speed

    - reliability

    - minimal fees for suspending/resuming the service (I'll suspend the service when away for several months)

    TIA

  2. Mates,

I'm looking for a beach side location to stay at for a few days. Not looking to splurge, but I do want unspoilt beaches and a minimum of rowdy tourists (so Pattaya/Jomtien is off the list).

Should be not too far from BKK, say about 2hour drive. Ideally there should be good restaurants, and perhaps some natural scenery and temples to explore.

Any suggestions? for example, Hua Hin?

    Help would be much appreciated

    Cheers

  3. Mates, thanks for the replies and suggestions.

The protrusion is about 20cm thick, and is so by design (its NOT a builder's hiccup). I'm thinking that shims wont be adequate, since a 20cm gap is too big.

Say I'd go for a custom made 1.80m to 1.90m kitchen (lower + upper cabinets, granite counter), high gloss, cabinets scribed to account for the protrusion. How much should I be expecting to pay?. I dont need something too flashy, but a good functional kitchen with a modern look.

Any suggestions for a custom kitchen builder in Jomtien?

    Cheers

  4. I'm thinking of replacing the kitchen in the condo with a production-line (so to say) model, that is, not something custom made, but one of the models offered by Lite/Starmark/Index etc.

The wall where the kitchen is installed isnt level (by design), namely, about 1.5m from the entrance it protrudes a few extra cm, for about another 1m or so.

Here's a photo of a another condo, but same wall layout (I've circled the place where it start to protrude):

My question is: how can I install the kitchen? should I get a builder to level the wall? or will the kitchen installer be able to somehow align the cabinets?

    Cheers

  5. Hi

The condo has large windows and plenty of early morning light is coming in.

So, I'm thinking of installing exterior motorized rolling blinds, to block sunlight. something like this:

Any suggestions where to buy such good quality blinds? and how much would it cost for 3m wide window (~10ft)?

    Cheers

  6. Depending on your contractor, there should be a written contract. Within the written contract it should state a completion date. Try to understand the terms and conditions. Make sure when they install the floor tile that the pitch (angle level) has the shower water go to the drain without having the water just stand on the floor taking a long time to evaporate. I would supervise the work being performed. Make sure you visually look that the level (tool) so your sure the pitch will drain the water properly. When they do the ceiling make sure they use at least 2-coats of paint, not just one. Something to think about: do you want them to remove the existing floor or install new tile on-top of the old. Generally if they can get away with it they will install over the old one. It is quicker for them plus they don't have to carry all the old materials from the condo. They don't like paying to dump it somewhere so they will most likely cut corners by installing over the old. If you let them install over the new then they make more profit and get the job completed sooner.

Thanks. Whats wrong with installing the new tiles over the existing ones? (besides the issue of losing 2cm or so in floor to ceiling height)

  7. Mates,

Can someone please clarify how long should the following renovations take:

    Main living room:

installing a lowered ceiliing with recessed lights + a dimmer

    retiling the floor

    painting the walls

    bathroom:

    retiling the floor + walls

changing the bathub to a walk-in shower

replacing the vanity and toilet seat

Basically, I want to know for how long do I need be out of the unit.

    Cheers
