  1. This site is for "Tent" used cars and come with 1 year free service warrantee so their asking price is quite high

While some might offer a warranty, it's not required under law like some other countries, and you'll find it's certainly not the norm to offer an aftermarket warranty in the advertised price - but like insurance and finance, they would likely try and sell it to you smile.png (these aftermarket warranties are really nothing other than special insurance policies, and differ from OEM warranties as they have hard limits on how much can be claimed, part by part).

On that front though, Mitsubishi had a campaign running for around 6 months in 2010, where all Pajero Sport GT models (like the OP's) were sold with a 150,000KM/5 Year factory warranty, so there's some chance the OP's ride still has a couple of years of OEM warranty left on it...

That absolutely correct provided the Extra little Yellow Warranty Book has been filled in and stamped. It is a free check of the vehicle every 5,000ks in between the normal 10,000k services. In othe words at 5,000, 15,000, 25,000 etc, up to 100,000. If there has been 3 or more of these checks MISSED then the Warranty of 150,000 is Void, at least that was the origional story when the vehicle was purchased. Mine has now done 115,000 and still going strong. We are also used to a value being placed on the Accessories that are on the vehicle and this incorporated into the value of the car for either sale or insurance. In Thailand they don't seem to give a dame what extras are on the car so for insurance purposses i give them a full list of all extras and they take photo's to show them all, so in the event of an accident hopefully it would be repaired as insured with the extras on it as the insurance company agreed to raise the insured price to cover these extras. I hope i never have to put this to the test as we all know, this is Thailand.

  2. Thanks VocalNeal, I saw some available at Alibaba.com for the Pajero Sport and interestingly they call them tonneau covers...

I didn't see any in the official brochure of original accesories but ill call up the Mitsu dealer tomorrow and ask

I have been looking for one for 3 years and have never found anything. I even tried in Australia and there was nothing. I don't know why such an accessory would not be available from Mitsubishi as all the fixture points are there as you say. If you find something please let me know.

  3. Had a meeting with Mazda Thailand today...still no answer from HQ about what engines will be sold in Thailand...I'll keep you updated as soon as I know more...

One thing I was told that at the end of this year/beginning of next year the "new" Mazda 3 will be launched with a Skyactive engine...Mazda 6 for Thailand has been cancelled sad.png

I think Mazda Thailand must have rocks in their heads to Cancell the Mazda 6. I checked them out 6 months ago on release on Oz and they are and look Fantastic. I believe their ads as being the best car Mazda has ever built and the Station Wagon or Estate as the Pommies call them looks terrific. They make Camry and the like look sick. Would have been my next choice of a new car here if they released them and i have had many Mazdas since my 1971 Capella RE Coupe through to RX7 twin turbo, which is still my favourite.

  4. Would you pay upfront to a builder , in your own country ? No i think is the awnser , so why pay upfront in thailand where a farang cannot own land of a house 100%, only 49%, it's the one% that makes all the difference.

Don't pay untill the job is done to your satisfaction, only pay for the materials needed to keep the job going.

You cannot own the land BUT you can OWN the HOUSE.
  5. IT's probably to late now but i bet they never fitted P Traps under the floor to stop the smells and whatever else crawls up the pipe. They think you only put these in on the 2nd story. Also use Square Floor and Shower wastes and make them locate them in the middle of the shower and bathroom and slope the tiles to the waste. They should never be put in the corner, which is their normal wsy,

  6. I only found that this had been added to their website last week when i was attempting to find out when the Timing Belt should be changed as the Mitsu Service Dept in Mukdahan had told me that my TIMEING BELT should be Changed as my car had done 100,000Kl and gave me a Print Out of the Cost, ( all in Thai of course) which was 22,000 Baht. I found this a bit extreme to say the least so i started making enquiries. On checking the Mitsu website i found the 100.000Kl service recommendations under Periodical Maintenance, but there was no mention of the Timing Belt but i did notice that it was WRONG anyway when i came to the Amount of Oil that the engine holds. So i contacted Mitsubishi Tecnical Section and asked the Question about the Timeing Belt, Specifically IS IT A TIMEING BELT OR CHAIN. They said it was a BELT and should be Changed at 100,000Kl. I told them that from other websites on this 3.2Lt engine from Australia and the US i found that they said it was a Timeing CHAIN not a belt so would they please check on this and get back to me with an answer. At the same time i explained that their website was wrong as to the Amount of Oil the engine holds and of course the price of the Service. About 6 Hours later i got a return call which was full of Apologies as they had checked the website and it was wrong. I said OK, no problem, you can fix that but what about the Important Question, is it a Belt or Chain. They then said, very sorry, you are right it is a TIMEING CHAIN and you don't have to Replace it at 100,000Kl. To this i replied that you had better Inform all your Dealer Service Centres of this fact as it appears they have NO IDEA and will be ripping off their customers. They of course apologised again and said they would check furthur and call me again to tell me their Recommendation for Changing the Timeing Chain. No reply yet. But i have found on other sites that 200,000Ks is recommended but i have also found posts that go as high as 400,000Ks before they were changed. It seems that the Chain is No Problem but the Chain Tensioner can start to get very noisy and must be changed or there will be a big problem wif it breaks. So to all of you who have a 3.2Lt Pajero GT Turbo that's the story. During my Investigation into this i contacted Brett Middleton of MRT Performance in Australia who does Performance Packages for these engines and explained that over here many of us Fit either RaceChip or SpeedKit Piggy back computer boxes to or Diesel engines to get the additional Performance. He thinks that these are very dangerous as far as the engine goes so you might want to look at his site and what he has to offer for Performance Upgrades.

  7. Global House has recently opened in Mukdahan and there is another one under construction, not sure who. Apart from that there is Sakon Nakon to go to. Good luck finding a builder and if it's on the Girls land don't forget to take out a 30 year lease at the land office.

  8. The new staff at the Lao Visa office have refused some people from paying in $US and want 1,500 baht which is the right price and is better for the lao government due to the exchange rate. The last time i paid 1,200 baht was about 9 months ago with the old staff there who knew me well. Last week cost was 1,500 baht. 5 months ago they tried to charge me 3,000 baht and when i refused they checked my passport and said, Oh you go often and asked me why To which i replied, I go to play golf with your Governor, which stopped them quickly and i was given change from the 2,000 baht i had placed on the counter. So be warned, if they can rip you off and put the balance in their pocket ,they will. If you stop in Mukdahan or are looking for a good feed, Check out Mukdahan Manor and thein Waterfront Restaurant, by far the best in Muk..

  9. As MeMock suggested in Mukdahan there is The Waterfront, you can check out the Menu at www.mukdahan-manor.com it is also a great place to stay when passing through Muk and right on the rivers edge. The Restaurant has won The Best Restaurant Award in 2011 & 2012 presented by the Governor in conjunction with the Health Department of Mukdahan Province. It has the most extensive menu for 100's of kilometres, and the best views of the Mekong River. You can dine inside in airconditioned comfort or outside by the pool overlooking the river.

  10. Have a look at www.mukdahan-manor.com for the best place to stay and for the best food in Mukdahan, International and Thai menu. The Restaurant is called The Waterfront - Song Fung Khong. Are you going to drive your own car over or take the Bus. A third option is to take a Mini Bus and Driver who knows where to take you, Hotels, Food and sightseeing. Probably the safest and best as it is very difficult to find where things are. If you want a price let me know.

  11. Normally you contact the closest university in your area and you have to tell them what checks you like to be done for you. Not really expensive (1000-1500 Thb), except you want certain results...

Thanks. Is there a "standard" line of tests to be done on water that may be used for drinking?

About 6 years ago i had samples tested at Khon Kean university from the Temple Well that provided the water supply to the local residents in Mukdahan City. The tests came back so bad that i took a bottle of it to the Mayor and asked him to drink it and he naturally declined the offer. It was orange in colour and you couldn't even wash clothes in it. This got the ball rolling and i also refered it to the Governor and kept pushing. It took over 2 years but i finally won the battle and City Water pipes were run to connect the area and they even installed Fire Brigade Stand pipes to connect up to. So go for it,
  12. I have a 3.2 Lt 4x4 pajero sport GT. My advice is to save your money. Just change your tyres to MICHILIN LATTITUDE CROSS, these tyres are made in Poland and will increase the handling and braking immensely. I have done 100,000 K's now, 80,000 0n the origional Bridgestones and now 20,000 on the Michelin's. The wet weather performance is 100% better, in fact i have more confidence in 2 wheel drive now than i had in 4 wheel drive on the Bridgestones, and i drive at the speeds you mention in the wet or dry although i don't recommend others to do this unless you have the training. The wear factor seems excellent and there is no increase in road noise compared to the Bridgestone Highway Tyre origionally fitted and they have a higher speed rating. These Michilins have a varying Tread Pattern across their face similar to the 1972 Michilin XAS Radial which i used to race on before the arrival of Slick Racing Tyres and the performance of the XAS over the proceeding Michelin X is comparable to that of the Lattitude Cross over the Bridgestones. So spend your money on tricking up your car and save on the 20in wheels.

thanks for your input, I really don't want to "trick" up my car, I like the factory look other than the wheels. well that and the exhaust has got to go.

My exhaust went in the first 3 months, changed the muffler and fitted twin pipes with japanese stainless steel tail pipes. I think there are still photoes under Pinstriping in this forum. Cost of Muffler, Twin pipes and tail pipes 5,500 baht. Done in Khon Kaen.

just checked out your pics, very nice. I've got family in Mukdarharn, next time I am there I'll need to check out your ride in person

I'm at www. mukdahan-manor.com The best B&B in Mukdahan along with the Best Restaurant in the Province, Check out our website for the Menu.

  15. Mukdahan would be a perfect fit for affordable McDonalds or Burger King,

at this point even Jeffer's would do as they sell affordable quality burgers.

As a Farang living in Mukdahan for 1 month it seems the modern presence

of a business is Big-C and Tesco Lotus. No wonder why places like this are

packed fully with limited parking on weekends, they are the only show in town.

As mentioned by Memock in previous posts Mukdahan Manors Restaurant which is known to Thai's as Song Fung Khong, in English The Waterfront or just as Mr Don's house is 3kl south of the Indo China Market on the River road called Samlanchai Khong Tai road. Here you can get everything from Hamburgers and Meat Pies to Aussie Steaks, New Zealand Lamb, Norweigan Salmon, NZ Mussels, Tassie Schollops, It has a very Extensive Menu and a Bar that stocks almost everything, even Port. This Restaurant has won the Best Restaurant Award in Mukdahan for the past 2 years, Presented by the Governor and the Health Department and there is little doubt that it is by far the best place for Foreigners to eat but amazeingly the clientel is 95% Thai & Lao people who travell from even nearby provinces to dine there. So if you want good food or even a plate of Chips or Potato Wedges with a Cold Beer and good music this is the place.
  16. Servicing is every 10,000k's but if you have the 5 year Warranty Option you must take the car in at 5,000k intervals for their free check and have the little book stamped and they tear out the page and it's kept on record. If you miss 3 of these you loose the extra 2 year warranty. If you want to save money take the Oil of your choice with you and have them put that in your engine, saves about 50% on what they charge for oil.

Back in early 2010 when the 5year/150,000KM 'Diamond Warranty' was first launched it required 5,000KM checks, and yes you were given a little booklet to hold the extra stamps - however, that was changed in 2011 and now only the standard 10,000KM intervals are required to keep the 5yr/150,000 warranty. You should have received a letter from Mitsubishi explaining that the 5,000 KM checks were no longer required.

Yes i did Mate, But you know how they change their opinion like the Melbourne weather so i decided to hinge my bet and continue with the 5,000 check ups to be safe. And they still carry it out the same as before in Mukdahan.

  18. What is really dangerous at many intersections is when the lights are not all working. Yesterday at one intersection there were no lights and so I drove through giving way to my right. But the cars on the left had lights and were driving correctly through on the green.

You have made the Number 1 big mistake. The Law in Thailand is that YOU GIVE WAY TO THE CARS ON THE LEFT EXCEPT AT ROUNDABOUTS which is first in has right of way, but not many Thai's know this. I know giving way to the left in a right hand drive car doesn't make sense but that Thailand.
  19. Raro, i think that you have done a great job to organise this at what looks to be a good resort and even though i thought " Where the hell is that" at first i found their web site very good with a Directions to get there section which provided a map and directions from Mukdahan to the Resort which is very good and it is a much shorter journey then to KK itself. Unfortunately i will be back in Oz at this time so i cannot attend, a pity as i was looking foward to it. Hope all goes well and a great time is had by all.

  20. The best place to stay is Mukdahan Manor and also the best food in Muk. Check it out at www.mukdahan-manor.com and you will get the picture. Forget flying Lao Air, very expensive, fly to ubon. You can get the Ploy Palace Hotel Bus from Ubon Airport to Mukdahan for around 400 baht.

  21. No Claim with Bridgestone but Michilin have a 6 year warranty which nis filled in by the dealer and you are given a copy. If your 2 WD PJS has 16 in wheels why dont you check around and see if you can get a set of the 17in standard wheels, i'm sure that many tyre dealers will have traded them in when guy want 20in wheel which is only for looks in my opinion. I guarantee you these Michelins stick like shit to a blanket.

You never mentioned what model PJS you have. My PJS 3.2Lt GT got 80,000 from the origional Bridgestones on the 17 inch standard wheels and i drive at any average speed of about 120 Ks. I thought about putting Bigger Diameter wheels etc on the car but after a lot of research i decided to stick with the standard 17 in wheels and fitted Michilin Latitude Cross Tyres which are Manufactured in Poland, Not Thailand. These have now done 20,000 Ks and are fantastic. The Wet Weather Grip is so good that i rarely have to go to 4 Wheel Drive where as with the Bridgestones i would engage 4 WD in even the lightest rain and the Michilins out handle them in 2 WD. I Compare these tyres to the Michilins of the early 1970's. If you drove on Michilin X tyres which had a very high milage factor but where Not good in the Wet and then Bought the then New Michelin XAS the transformation was unbelievable on both Dry and Wet Conditions. These Latitude Cross are exactely the same, In fact the tread pattern even reminds me of the XAS which i actually Raced on in Touring Cars in Oz before Slicks hit the market.. When you look at them on the Michilin Site or at a dealer which is the way to go you will see what i mean. And don't think that because of the Chunky Tread Pattern that they will be Noisy because they are Not, they are just as quiet as Highway style tread patterns and the wear factor seems to be very good, mine have worn from 1 to 1,5 mm in the first 20,000 K's. The recommended Retail Price from Michelin is 7,690 Baht per tyre so don't be ripped off as in Ubon i was quoted 8,500 Bht but in Mukdahan they actually Discounted them to 7,500 each. So my recommendation is to Save Your Money and Stick to the Standard 17 inch Wheels that the car was designed to run on and Fit these Michilin Latitude Cross Tyres and you will be Super Happy and a Whole Lot Safer.

Thanks. Great post. Its the 2010 2.5L 2wd. 80K on originals???? wow. I drive .... mixed. Dont hoon, sometimes agressive, but never screeching, use gears to help break, try to keep revs moderate ...

If I only got 40k with regular service and keeping an eye on pressure levels, I don't suppose I could make a claim??
