  1. I know nothing about government ID documents in Europe. If you have any that you want to retain, and that you can only renew there, plan your departure accordingly. You don't want to arrive here, and then discover a short time later that you need to return to Germany to prevent something from expiring.
  2. We are holding two overnight sleeper tickets departing Chiang Mai 1935 hrs. Jan. 2, 2026, and arriving Bangkok 0810 hrs. Jan. 3, 2026. We would like to stay in chiang Mai one day longer. Is there anyone in the opposite position; holding southbound tickets for Jan. 3, but wanting to travel a day earlier ? We would accept tickets on the same schedule as above, and would also consider daytime tickets on Jan. 3; say leaving Chiang Mai at breakfast time and arriving in Bangkok at dinner time. The tickets do not have our names on them, so swapping should not be a problem. The swap would need to be done in Chiang Mai during daytime hours on Jan.2, but could be done earlier if you are in Bangkok.
  3. Since there is no law against doing it, there is no law re ratio. If a higher ratio turns some foreigners away, the same higher ratio means a greater profit from the ones who enter.
  4. Tell the powers that be that if the issue is not resolved in 30 days, you are shutting your operation down. Then if it isn't, do it. The Thai benificiaries of your organization will notice, and presumambly complain That might get some action..
  5. I have been in Thailand for 10,896 days, every one of them legally. I don't anticipate needing to do anything.
  6. 7-11 reruitment posters say "must have completed Mathayom 3". To the best of my knowledge and observation those that are 15 - 17 are just like any other employee. Fifteen is a watershed age: - they can legally leave school - the boys must register for rawdaw (army cadet training) - they can legally drive a motorcycle.
  7. For anyone who wants "unfounded fearmongering' about anything related to Thailand, aseannow is the best place to find it.
  8. My Hotmail account has recently become unusable, at least on my own computer. I am in the process of transitioning to another e-mail provider. There are many issues to consider after 27 years with Hotmail. Among them: Is there any way I can continue my "90 Days" notifications online, and change my e-mail address with Immigration ? I've just done my latest report, and didn't see any way to do that. (I did it on a friend's computer, where I can still open my Hotmail account.)
  9. You need to do one "user generated" transaction per year to keep an account open. (Service charges and interest credits don't count). Out of an abundance of caution, I try to do one every six months. The bank doesn't know your visa has expired; you should be OK.
  10. My accounts are now accessible again, though I now have no confidence that that will always be the case.
  11. I have been locked out of my two Hotmail accounts, completely without notice. The issue seems to be that they want people to sign in with some other means than a password. (On each account, I have listed the other as my back-up/recovery account, so I am now stymied on both of them.) Attempts to use their website to solve the problem have completely failed, Either I am going around in circles, or getting a "This answer is blocked" message. Does anyone know some other way to contact Microsoft ? E-mail address ? Street address ? Telephone number ? Plain English please. I am not a computer geek.
  12. I'm the OP. I went in this morning (Bangkok) - didn't need to present anything other than my passport and the completed Form TM 47.
  13. Not to belabour the point - I am retired, have plenty of time, so wil make the necessary trip to Immigration. Just curious - my last "90 Day" Notification was done online on Apr11, 2025. On June 23, 2025, I received an online reminder that I was due to notify again on July 9. I ignored that reminder, because I had been out of Thailand in May, Having reset my 90 day clock upon my return, I decided to use all, or nearly all of the 90 days allowed before doing a 90 Day notification. Here is my question: If I had responded to the online reminder sent to me June 23, could I have done that online, and thus avoided a trip to the Immigration Office ? (Simply continued on with my stream of prior online notifications, regardless of the fact that I had been out of Thailand for a couple of weeks.)
  14. I filed a TM 30 when I moved to my current address in 2022. I have done three extentions since then, and never been told to do another one. Surely I don't need to do one now, just because I was out of the country for two weeks ?
  15. Having attempted to do it online, i have just been rejected, and told that I need to do it in person. I have returned to the same address where I have lived for over three years. What do I need to take with me, if anything, other than my passport and a completed form ?
  16. A few days ago I saw a post in my Facebook news feed saying that 7-11 memberships are now available to foreigners. While it was a 3rd party post, it had an authentic look to it, and I said to myself "What would anyone stand to gain from posting this, if it isn't true ?" I went to my nearest 7-11 (where I am known), and spoke to the co-owner. She gave me a "mai dai !". That was not completely unexpected. I contacted 7-11 on Facebook. The person who replied said I could get it, provided I have a Thai phone number. (Thai ID card not required) After I told them what had happened, they said they would get back to me, but they haven't. Obviously, I can't go in to a 7-11, run around the counter, and seize the keyboard to try and do it myself. Has anyone succeeded in doing this, particularly in Bangkok ? I spend enough there that it would probably be worthwhile to travel (within reason) to get this accomplished.
  17. My OP referred to TTB. I have had an account at Kasikorn for 20 yrs. I was in a branch a few months ago; I don't remember having to enter my phone number to get a queue ticket.
  18. I had two relatively inactive accounts with TTB. At one point, they told me to either become more active, or they would close the accounts. I did the latter. it had nothing to do with my visa Instead of using technology to help their customers, they are using it to hassle them. The last few times I visited (before closure) I was required to enter my phone number in their queue machine, before I could even get a queue ticket. You might want to take your business elsewhere. None of the other banks I deal with do that.
  19. I have answered this on the Thai Visa page.
  20. Public sector offices always get a two day holiday on this holiday. The private sector only gets the first day, because they got Labour Day (May 1) as a holiday, while the public sector did not.
  21. Thank you. My friend has now succeeded in making the card refillable. So, this card can now be used like a regular Visa card to purchase from shops and restaurants ?
  22. An off topic, but related question: A friend just bought a refillable, reusable card (for the MRT only). It has a Visa logo on the front, a 16 digit Visa-like number on the back, and a CVV. But it is not linked to his bank account, so is not a debit card. And he was asked no questions about his employment or salary, so it is not a credit card either. Does anyone know what exactly this card is ?
  23. Thailand Post. Ask for "Logistpost" at the counter where they sell cardboard boxes.
  24. Just checked the Bank of Thailand website. June 2, 2025 is a special holiday. Perhaps leave my post in place to remind others.
