  1. Public sector offices always get a two day holiday on this holiday. The private sector only gets the first day, because they got Labour Day (May 1) as a holiday, while the public sector did not.
  2. Thank you. My friend has now succeeded in making the card refillable. So, this card can now be used like a regular Visa card to purchase from shops and restaurants ?
  3. An off topic, but related question: A friend just bought a refillable, reusable card (for the MRT only). It has a Visa logo on the front, a 16 digit Visa-like number on the back, and a CVV. But it is not linked to his bank account, so is not a debit card. And he was asked no questions about his employment or salary, so it is not a credit card either. Does anyone know what exactly this card is ?
  4. Thailand Post. Ask for "Logistpost" at the counter where they sell cardboard boxes.
  5. Just checked the Bank of Thailand website. June 2, 2025 is a special holiday. Perhaps leave my post in place to remind others.
  6. A friend who works as a teacher says that his school will be closed that day. Has the govt. proclaimed a "bridge day" holiday to link the June 3 holiday to the weekend ? I have been out of Thailand for a couple of weeks, so may have missed something.
  7. Yes. You can have a second employer added to your Work Permit, with written permission from your employer. I know someone who did it.
  8. Twice per day with an ATM card. I presume the same for cardless.
  9. A worrisome combination: "no leverage with an employer..." and "hefty fines for non-cancellation".
  10. I have received conflicting information in response to the following question: Is gay marriage possible in Thailand, if both partners are resident foreigners on one year visa extensions ? Please cite your source. I am not interested in rumours, gossip or hearsay.
  11. Songran, and allowing for one extra day before and after, should be no longer than Apr. 11 - 17. You will be fine.
  12. Ask the Thai Embassy or Consulate you intend to use.
  13. I guess someone has to answer this. It isn't the first time I've had to answer my own question. I didn't see anything at Mabookrong. At Silom Complex,Saladaeng BTS Station: Double A Photocopying 4th Floor
  14. Where to get laminating done ? Prefer west of the river, or central Bangkok. Thank you.
  15. Probably a longshot: I used to buy custom made insoles from a foreigner in Bangkok. He has now sold the business, apparently to a medical centre in a "remote" section of Nonthaburi. I have had no dealings with the business since it changed hands. I do have contact info. for someone there, who I presume can speak English. Send me a private E-mail if you would like it.
  16. That should be enough, unless you are explicitly warned that your account is facing closure for inactivity. (That can happen if the bank has your mobile phone number.)
  17. I don't mean a shoe bag for one pair of shoes. I mean the sort of large wall-hanging shoe bag which might hold 8 - 12 pair of shoes. Any idea for a source ?
  18. For The Transport Company (baw-khaw-saw): busticket.in.th Most private bus companies have their own websites.
  19. Update: This was a serious bus accident in Salavan province, across the border from Ubon Ratchathani. Forty persons injured, thirteen of them seriously. The latter are in the hospital mentioned in my previous post. More information is available on nationthailand.com, and from Lao media.
  20. 21. I don't know if it is possible to do it online, but you can download an English language income tax return at rd.go.th
  22. Thank you for the detailed reply. Your understanding of the requirements corresponds with mine.
  23. Is there anyone who has processed a Non-Immigrant "B" visa there since Jan. 1, 2025 ? I have just been asked a for guidance by someone who is an absolute beginner. His main question is processing time. Does he receive some sort of temporary sticker which will enable him to return to Thailand immediately ? Or will it be necessary for him to remain in Malaysia for some period of time ?
  24. Can anyone clarify if there is a requirement that one or both partners must be Thai ? Please cite your source. I am interested in facts, not rumours, gossip or hearsay.
