  1. I've used them twice in Bangkok to ship envelopes to Canada. The first time was fine; it was there in 3 or 4 days. The second time, I became concerned, when after 52 hrs., my item had not even appeared in their tracking system. I returned to their office, and there was my envelope, on a rack next to the front counter.

  2. My banks have never phoned me when I had an incoming transfer, so relying on that is too risky.

This is important. If you don't have that FEC, you won't be able to transfer your money out of Thailand eventually. Instead of trying to save a few dollars, you need to have IB transfer your funds to a bank, then have that bank transfer the funds to your Thai bank. There is nothing wrong with discount brokers, foreign exchange companies and the like. But, they are cheap for a reason.

  3. Not a definitive answer to your question, but I once had a three day per week job. My contract was written as though it was a full-time job, because my supervisor feared it would not be approved for a Work Permit for part-time. Immigration may do surprise inspections to check for illegals, but I have never heard of anyone sitting there for a week to verify actual hours worked,

  4. To the OP: Yes, you can change to the BTS Skytrain at Makkasan. Getting off, walk back towards the airport, and exit at the east end of the station. Use the elevated, covered walkway cross Asoke Road, and go down into the MRT (subway) station.  Ride the MRT one station south to the MRT/BTS interchange station which is called "Sukhumwit" by the MRT and "Asoke" by the BTS.

As an alternative, you can ride the Airport Link train to its terminus at Phayathai BTS Station, and change to the BTS station there.

  5. I don't know the link, but this might do until you get a better answer:

Interbranch Withdrawals - I think it is B 15 if done at a K-bank ATM, B 30 if done at other banks' ATM's.

I think the K-bank B 15 is waived on the first four withdrawals each month.

Over the counter at any branch other than your own:  B 30 for the first B                                                    10,000 + B 1/1000 baht in excess of B 10,000.

ATM Card - to obtain, or replace, you must go to your home branch.

  6. This often depends on country of citizenship.  If you are from a western, developed country, it will probably be presumed that you have, or have access to sufficient money to buy a return ticket. I have just returned from a short visit to VN on a two-way ticket. None of the"Vietnam visa" websites that I visited before going mentioned the need for a return ticket. You might want to check some of those, with specific reference to your country of citizenship.
