I've used them twice in Bangkok to ship envelopes to Canada. The first time was fine; it was there in 3 or 4 days. The second time, I became concerned, when after 52 hrs., my item had not even appeared in their tracking system. I returned to their office, and there was my envelope, on a rack next to the front counter.

I concur. Posts #'s 2 and 3 addressed the OP's question. While I haven't read all of the subsequent posts, few, if any, are on-topic.

Extensions of Stay for Retirement are granted for one year. I have never heard of a custom made one, granted for some unusual time period because of the limited financial resources of the applicant.

The day you arrive in Thailand counts as Day 1, even if you are stamped in just before midnight.

As far as I know the Thai govt. says "the more the merrier". There may be a rule about how much you can carry out from your departure point.

My banks have never phoned me when I had an incoming transfer, so relying on that is too risky.
This is important. If you don't have that FEC, you won't be able to transfer your money out of Thailand eventually. Instead of trying to save a few dollars, you need to have IB transfer your funds to a bank, then have that bank transfer the funds to your Thai bank. There is nothing wrong with discount brokers, foreign exchange companies and the like. But, they are cheap for a reason.

I favour Bangkok Bank over K-Bank. I used the latter once; they advised me only of the net amount transferred, after they had skimmed their exchange rate and/or fee off the top. While I could only guess at the exact amount they deducted, I do remember that I considered it excessive.
I can not comment on Krung Thai Bank.

Not a definitive answer to your question, but I once had a three day per week job. My contract was written as though it was a full-time job, because my supervisor feared it would not be approved for a Work Permit for part-time. Immigration may do surprise inspections to check for illegals, but I have never heard of anyone sitting there for a week to verify actual hours worked,

To the OP: Yes, you can change to the BTS Skytrain at Makkasan. Getting off, walk back towards the airport, and exit at the east end of the station. Use the elevated, covered walkway cross Asoke Road, and go down into the MRT (subway) station. Ride the MRT one station south to the MRT/BTS interchange station which is called "Sukhumwit" by the MRT and "Asoke" by the BTS.
As an alternative, you can ride the Airport Link train to its terminus at Phayathai BTS Station, and change to the BTS station there.

I once did it, and I was not even BOI sponsored. It does require advance preparation and co-operation from all involved, and co-ordination by yourself. I am presuming that both your old and new employer are in the same province. It can be difficult if they are not. I got everything done in about half a day.

I don't know the link, but this might do until you get a better answer:
Interbranch Withdrawals - I think it is B 15 if done at a K-bank ATM, B 30 if done at other banks' ATM's.
I think the K-bank B 15 is waived on the first four withdrawals each month.
Over the counter at any branch other than your own: B 30 for the first B 10,000 + B 1/1000 baht in excess of B 10,000.
ATM Card - to obtain, or replace, you must go to your home branch.

If he is flying out, you are correct. There have been reports of trouble at the Mukdahan and Nong Khai border crossings if the extension has not been cancelled.

How and where does he plan to leave Thailand ?

To the best of my recollection, Sahaphan is 1 month.

It may vary depending on the company. With the one I normally use, it is 1 month.

To my knowledge, nowhere. I am Canadian, and a long-time Thai resident. You need a brokerage account in Canada.

This often depends on country of citizenship. If you are from a western, developed country, it will probably be presumed that you have, or have access to sufficient money to buy a return ticket. I have just returned from a short visit to VN on a two-way ticket. None of the"Vietnam visa" websites that I visited before going mentioned the need for a return ticket. You might want to check some of those, with specific reference to your country of citizenship.

Normal charge for transfer to another acct. is B 30 for the first B 10,000, + B 1 per additional B 1000. I don't know if the fee is capped at some point. It makes no difference if the receiving acct. is your own or someone else's, or how far it is to the receiving bank.

I think that at least for a brief period in the past, Bangkok Bank NY used to allow applicants to complete the necessary forms, and then transmit these to HQ in Bangkok, where an account was then opened.

I have now become aware of someone who left Thailand about a month ago and returned shortly after. About ten days ago, she was in the Surin Immigration office. The reportedly scrutinized every page of her passport, but did not tell her that she had to do a new TM30, or fine her for not having already done one.

Check Bangkok Bank's website. They used to have a way of doing it. I don't know if they still do. They have a branch in New York. To my knowledge, they are the only Thai bank that does.

I think he is going to have to go inside a bank which issues Visa cards. I believe this now excludes Bangkok Bank. They normally charge the same rate that they do on an unpaid credit card bill, plus another 1% or so. For a round figure, use 20% p.a.
Remember, the banks will all be closed on Mon. Oct. 15. Have him do it today, if he can't wait until the 16th.

Just a friendly reminder to all. It's the substitution day for the Oct. 13 holiday, commemorating the death anniversary of King Bhumipol Adulyadej.

Going abroad later this month. Is Surin (Kap Cheung) Immigration one of the ones wanting a new TM30 within 24 hrs, of my return ?

Hi, Uwe,
I can't remember from 2 yrs. ago; somewhere in the order of B 700 - B 1000 I think.
