  1. You are where you are, so you are going to have to do the best you can, and hope for the best. Bring your current passport, and a photocopy of the oldest previous one you have. Do you have a bankbook ? That is your best tool, as it contains an invisible ink version of your signature to which your present signature, and signatures on passport(s) will be matched. And if possible, go to your home branch.

  2. "Change" makes the world go around. Have you ever thought about how many people make their living by convincing other people to change something ? And then, in a case such as Thai Visa, they can come back in 6 or 12 months, and suggest changing back to what was there previously ! Is change necessary ? If your paycheque depends on it, yes, otherwise, it usually isn't.

  3. No, they will be closed on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

Note: Shopping centre sub-branches, that are normally open on weekends, should be open on Dec. 29 and 30, but also closed on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1

Note re cash withdrawals:  I don't know how many days off the ATM service guys get. ATM's might be out of money in the latter part of what will be a four and a half day weekend (including the evening of the 28th).

If you can see now that you will be needing cash, don't wait until late on the 31st or Jan.1

  4. If she's a vendor, start with the numbers. Then, find an alphabet book, or make your own - "a -apple, b-bed" etc. If your Thai is at some sort of intermediate level, you can then proceed to some vocabulary which she can write. Once she gets to the point where she can speak Thailish (Thai grammar in English), she needs a Thai teacher.
