  1. If you think the problem is with the courier and how they are dealing with customs then hire a 3rd party customs clearance agent and let them take over. I had that issue once when importing high value items and the courier was wholly incompetent getting the necessary permits filed in time. So I hired a customs clearance agent who had it all sorted out in 24 hours.
  2. Hubble type telescopes that orbit earth cannot image your private parts for a plethora of reasons.
  3. Not sure how much they are affected in Thailand, but I’ve seen a remarkable increase in Russian women in my vicinity on Tinder. I can only guess that existing income streams have dried up.
  4. Why should Thailand spend more money on dropping them of in Russia first? If a plane goes to Ukraine to pick up Thais, then any Russians stuck in Thailand can be dropped of in Ukraine!
  5. Last evening everything (at least around Chaweng and Bangrak) was ordered closed at 23:00 amid rumors there’s a large cluster of hundreds of new infections. Even the 7/11’s closed earlier than normal. And yes, I know that 23:00 has been the official closing time for awhile now, but in practice many places stayed open until 2 or 3 or even later without anyone batting an eye.
  6. Then if your private insurance does not offer the required coverage for Covid-19 you’ll have to take out an additional policy for that. It should have a duration for as long as your allowed stay in Thailand, based on your visa (exempt) or extension of stay re-entry permit.
  7. If you are legally employed in Thailand you are enrolled in the Thai social security scheme which includes healthcare. This is sufficient for the Thai Pass. Only some teachers and company owners/directors are exempt from social security.
  8. It means that Selfridges has no future as a mall. It will be stripped, sold of in parts and the beautiful buildings in prime locations will be converted to hotels, cue Central….
  9. Double Pfizer jabbed are offered a booster in Thailand after 6 months.
  10. Shocks are 30%. Even in most FTA’s ASEAN has are shocks excluded.
  11. To be able to import duty free from another ASEAN country or country ASEAN has an FTA with you’ll need to be able to proof the good’s country of origin (that’s where it has been manufactured). This is only possible if the seller issues a Certificate of Origin (can only be issued on behalf of the manufacturer) and fills in an export declaration. I can’t think of many sellers or manufacturers willing to make such efforts for a private buyer abroad.
  12. Is there a turbo charger? If the oil is very old it could fail possibly sending bits into the engine. But you would have heard some awful noise before the clanking in the engine.

  14. Yeah, all the same 265/65R17 AT5’s most likely. I was hoping leftover 2021 tyres would go with some additional discount now.
  15. Thinking of 12 sets (48 tires) of Dunlop at first.
  16. Are there any suppliers in Thailand who offer reasonable discounts on a largish order of new car tires? Could even be leftovers from last year. I contacted loads of dealers and sellers online, but so far I can’t get a lower price than what they are being offered for on Lazada or Shoppee per only 4.
  17. Never tried premium, but I am surprised how much difference there is between brands. On a tank of PTT diesel my car get at most 550km, whereas on Shell I’ll get close to 700.
  18. Yes, you’ll have to pay VAT. Paying duties is a maybe; If the CCTV system consists of just cameras you could try importing them as webcams which are duty exempt. Otherwise a digital video cameras which is only 5%. however if the system includes a control system and importantly a recording device then it falls under a different customs heading and will have a duty of 10% applied.
  19. Well, o-micron is the small Greek o, pronounced as oh, that’s not too bad. Whereas O-mega is the large Greek O, pronounced as OOOH, this is bad!
  20. All cases found upon arrival from abroad: 1) Female, English, 34, PG5125 from Singapore via Bangkok sealed route. 2) Male, Belgian, 55, PG5171 from UAE via Singapore and Bangkok sealed route. 3) Male , English, 56, PG962 from England via Singapore (wife also found positive but as of yesterday not sequenced yet for Omicron).
  21. Quarantapede or cinquantapede are names too hard to remember.
  22. I assume Central is well aware of the gloomy future of high street department stores. I don’t think they are in it for the warehouse brands included in this deal, but are after the real estate property. Central is also a very experienced hotel group and many of those fancy European malls make for some great hotels in the best locations. You may shop online, but you can’t sleep online…
  23. The article you link to has an error leading to your confusion. There are 46+ million people who have had AT LEAST one shot. That includes the 39.5 million who have had both shots. So the total doses administered add up to 39.5 double + (46-39.5) single + 3 booster = circa 88.5 million. That article was 10 days ago so 5 million more doses since then sounds about right resulting in a total of 93.5 doses as of today.
  24. Uhm, I can’t come up with any country where the PM is elected by the people. As the head of government he/she is generally appointed by the (elected) legislature. You’re confused with a president who is head of the state and in democratic countries is elected by the people. Since Thailand is a monarchy this is not applicable as the king is head of state.
