As long as I remember, people used to complain how McDonald's in Thailand is more expensive than in their own country.
Indeed it's currently cheaper in most countries. The Economist has run The Big Mac Index for nearly 40 years as a means of calculating a real exchange rate based on the price of a common commodity, purchasing-power parity or The Big Mac Index.

This year (2023) I paid for a 10 year visa for my wife ( not legally married).
Last year (2022) she applied and got a one year Visa.
No information was retained from 2022, she had to start all over again.
All that was required was a letter from me stating that I would take full responsibility for maintaining her financially whilst in the UK, including a return flight ticket. And that we will be staying with my daughter.
There was no problem with waiting etc.
For Canada on the other hand they required a Sponsor’s letter from a Canadian which my niece provided.
The appointment date was long and we wanted to travel sooner. So my wife contacted an agent and got advice on how to get an earlier appointment, which she did and no problem.
Based upon my experience you shouldn’t have to worry.
Thanks. My wife has had 1 x single, 2x 2 year and the most recent a 5 year. I was contemplating a 10 year this time around, though it's a fair chunk of change. Previously I've supplied a stack of paperwork; marriage certificate, the chanote for the house, old passports, my bank statements, letter from my then employer, covering letter saying I was paying and we were staying at my property in the UK. Are you suggesting I could dispense with that and just make do with marriage certificate and covering letter?
-
Check the passport number on your marriage certificate, I suspect you've changed passport since you married. So maybe the letter from the embassy is to confirm your current passport was issued to the same person as the passport detailed on the back of your wedding certificate. In which case you might want to take both passports with you to the embassy.

I don't recall them confirming the demographics. Please link to them so I can take a look.
Thanks.
I gave the link in the previous post

Those taking out opinion polls carefully choose thier audience. That way they get the answers they want.
I believe your link showed a poll of 2132. That's just over 2000.
Citing Wikipedia is just plain silly.
You could do it that way but you'd have little credibility. Opinium don't do it that way according to their blurb on methodology, and from the various awards they've garnered then you'd have to say they have credibility.
QuoteOur methodology starts with a nationally representative sample based on demographics and adds in a series of questions to make it politically representative as well, building on the lessons learnt from our experience over four UK general elections, two London Mayoral campaigns, three referendums and two sets of European Parliament elections.
While our political team have a diverse range of political leanings as individuals, as a company Opinium is politically neutral and our only commitment is to providing accurate and impartial research to raise the level of understanding in political conversations.

Not a clear majority of Britons.
A majority of those polled, by the Guardian, at an unknown location, of an unknown age, background.........the list goes on.
No. It was a survey carried out for The Observer by the independent research company Opinium

Not allowed to do that, reasons
1) They have their own pre-printed forms with the color stamps already appended.
2) They insist on handwritten in blue ink, and I'm not spending money on a color printer that will be used once a year.
3) The house location map must be hand drawn too.
It clearly depends on your immigration office.
Hat Yai immigration are happy to accept the computer completed forms I print out each year in greyscale; I have a mono laser printer. They require both a Google maps location plan with long/lat coordinates AND a hand drawn map (don't ask me why). Only the photos of the happy couple need to be in colour, everything else can just be scanned and printer out in black & white.

Simultaneously, the spokesperson emphasized the current dry and winter weather conditions prevailing in Thailand, characterized by dry and windy weather patterns.
Try telling that to the folk in Yala, Pattani & Narathiwat - they're under a meter plus of water!

Traffic has been a nightmare the last week in Hat Yai with Malaysian tour buses causing traffic jams. Lots of Malaysians in town for Christmas & New Year. Thankfully the wet weather is due to let up over the weekend so the countdown and fireworks won't be a wash out.

to get their visa/permits renewed, many of them were Indians and sub-continent persons...
Why should this surprise you? White Caucasians constitute 8% of the global population.

Lucky you ... as mine is 100 kms / ~1.5 hrs away ...
It was happenstance, we bought the house because it was convenient for local schools. Never had much dealings with immigration whilst I was working, multi entry non-O's worked fine. It was only with Covid that I switched to annual extensions and realised how conveniently close we were to the immigration office.

-
I do the extension myself, the wife does the TM30 and 90 day.
Easy as the Hat Yai immigration office is only 1.5km from the house.
Hat Yai immigration are generally pleasant and helpful.

What percentage of all UK citizens would 40% of Mudlims be? My guess would be around 10%.
Much less than that. Less than 7% of the UK population are Muslim according to data in the 2021 Census. 40% of that would be under 3%, but what proportion of the 7% are of working age?

What are the current processing times, appointment availability, for UK visitor visa applications through VFS?
It's a long time since we've had to deal with VFS, the wife's last 5 year visa expired during COVID and not we've had reason to renew. However, I do want to take our granddaughter on a trip to the UK next year, so need to apply for a standard visa for the granddaughter, and a new 5 year visa for the wife. I know I can apply up to 3 months prior to travel. We'd be going for about 4 weeks during the main school holiday, granddaughter is 13, I would be funding the trip and we'd be staying at my house in the UK.
For the visa do I need a letter from the parents permitting us to take their daughter out of the country? I know we need it for Thai immigration but do VFS need anything similar?
I read somewhere that you can no longer save your application and return to complete later is that correct?

Oh yes have seen thousands of those over the years unbridled stupid optimism. Build it and they will come. Except they never did.
The vacant shop house lots in the middle of nowhere are the fruits of money laundering. They were never intended to be lived in. It's just getting grey money out from under the table, washed, and in the bank.
You're no doubt right about the plot of land, but the area around Hat Yai airport has developed rapidly, there was very little there twenty years ago. After the 2010 floods quite a lot of new housing went in along the road to the airport because it sits on high ground. There are worse areas to hold land.
