  1. I have seen it at the Klong Tom market on weekends. I am sure I did not spell it correctly but it's near China town and near the main railway station if that helps.

    Dan

Thanks Dan, I'll have a look next time I'm in the vicinity. I was hoping that it might be available in one of the Bkk Bike shops, any more sightings...?

    Cheers, Genset.

Most all Marine shops stock this material, I have purchased it several times from a boat shop in Bangna, sorry I don't have the name. Perhaps this might be more convenient than China Town.

  2. Hi Saorsa,

I have a 1997 Like new Dyna Wide Glide I may have to sell due to some medical issues. I purchased the bike from the local authorized Harley dealer about seven years ago so it was imported legally with all taxes paid. Bike has 35k kilometers on the clock, has never been wrecked or dropped. I have not fully decided on selling this bike but I will know by the end of next month.

    Hi Mate,

I'm really looking for something after 2000, like street bob, fat bob or nighttrain, or possibly one of the modern Jap customs like M109R or XV1900.

    Cheers

    jamie

Should be no problem to find locally what you're looking for. Good luck.

    Cheers

  3. I have been surfing around and making enquiries for buying a Harley or similar when i get home to BKK after this trip offshore. Chang Freeman seems to have the best prices for used Harleys by a large margin. Has anyone bought from him here? If so, did you get a legit green book with your bike? Are you happy with your purchase? And is his shop easy to find? I was going to jump in a txi and get the taxi driver to phone him for directions.

    cheers

  4. Can anyone recommend a decent guitar shop in BKK ? I know there are a couple of places in Siam Paragon but was hoping to find a shop in a more normal shopping mall or center.. I wanted to find an Epiphone (by Gibson) dealer or reseller..

Not interested in Chinese copies or Thai knock offs.. Just genuine Epi or other quality brand.. (Guessing Gibson's are paeng gern bai)

Petchsiam Music...02-622-6099, 02-203-1123. Two locations in Bangkok. I purchased two real Epiphone guitars here and I think they are the exclusive dealers for Gibson and Epiphone in Thailand. Price and service was good.

    Good luck

    cheers PD..

  6. ...according to the reliable yabapricequote.com the costs per pill have risen only 15% since the

    pre-drugwar days...

Then that reliable yabapricequote.com should check its mathematics.

Colpyat, who's paying you to stir the shit bucket? Khun Newin of Buriram and TRT fame? You deserve one another............

  7. :D Hi Kayo !

I didn't know you were just 27...but it's an interesting thread about someone who's not sure where to go from now and build a future.

I noticed that you have been living a fun-life (more or less) so far in LOS, Guatamala on the vulcano-lake, and good old Amsterdam.

I'm just wondering why you choose Brighton, being a tourist destination, of all places.

If your choice is to 'grow' in the Hotel, Restaurant and Cafe business -Horeca- it's not a bad choice but I would think of different places to go to.....but that's me.

The future in this business, tourism, is in Southern Europe, Asia, Caribbean and a few more places where one can find INTERNATIONAL tourism and not, like Brighton, mainly UK tourists....nothing wrong with that of course!

You have such a wide International working/travel-experience so far that I can't understand your choice, but again, that's me.

You're 27 and fairly poor, no drivers' license (get one !!!) and what kind of future do you expect to find in Brighton ? :D

If I were you I would try to find a place where you can mix into the International Jet-Set and go for real bucks.... :o

    You speak your languages...use them.

But, maybe I'm totally wrong here and you don't wish to do so and I would respect your choice, of course!

    Cheers and good luck

  8. A couple friends of mine had humongous and beautiful tattoo work done on their back(large Bald eagles) in Pattaya three years ago, as I recall the guy was Thai and reputed to be the best in Thailand but from the work I saw it was beautiful indeed, I am not into this stuff so my opinion is based only on what I see and hear from others. Am not sure of what the price was but I believe it was about Baht 15000 but these were two sitting tattoos and not small, many colors.

  9. Beer garden business likely to be sluggish this year

BANGKOK, Nov 13 (TNA) – The beer garden business in Thailand this year, which began early this month and will continue until early next year, appears to be sluggish due to a decline in people's purchasing power following a recent oil price hike, according to the KASIKORN Research Centre (KRC).

The number of customers visiting beer gardens during this year's winter was likely to drop because of the declining purchasing power, while competition in the business has become fiercer, as new beer garden operators have entered the business, said the leading think tank.

If the operators want to make the business more active, they will have to create some exciting activities to attract more customers, especially new faces, the KRC suggested.

Besides the declining purchasing power of people and the increased retail oil prices, such other negative factors as the ongoing outbreak of avian flu and the spate of violent unrest in the country's deep South have also prompted many people to start saving, as they are worried about their incomes in future, according to the Bangkok-based research house.

Regular customers to the local beer gardens were, therefore, expected to cut down their visits to the places, the KRC projected. (TNA)--E111, E002

I live in a highly industrialized area of Bangkok and the beer gardens in my area are alive and well for sure, as a matter of fact the Singha beer garden set up in Big "C" parking lot is busy way past 01:00 most weekdays and Fridays, Saturdays the music keeps the entire neighborhood awake until the wee hours and I don't mean 1 AM(more like 3:00 am), maybe the outdoor booze joints have no restrictions on closing times, if they do they sure are not enforced in the area I live. :o

  10. My main concern when on a bike upcountry(a car as well) is is the often seen "rot keetan", they seem to have their own rules about who has the right-of-way but that's ok, one just must stay alert and aware. I think what I have seen is when the road is bad it is BAD, when it is good it is GOOD, I for sure have no complaints about the roads here in Thailand , someone has done a ######-of-ajob on the roads here, am not sure who but my hat is off to them.

  11. Great stuff Ajarn, thanks for the post. I have copied your post, saved for further review. I agree with you about many of the back roads here in LOS and I have often been amazed at how good the roads in fact are, I have ridden many roads in LOS on a motorcycle and have said for many years the "back-roads" in LOS are much better than in my own country in the west.

Keep up the great posts Ajarn and all the best to ya. Stay safe.

  12. Sounds like you may have had a stroke of some kind, better see a Dr. ASAP.!

    Hi all

I just flew from the USA yesterday

when I woke up from the first leg LAX-Narita the vision in my left eye was only in the center, the edges were blurred.

Now (the next day) the bottom 40% or so is blurred , but the top area is fine.

    Any ideas ?

I was planning to go to Burmagrad ( yeah probably wrong spelling) next week anyway.

Any recomendations on am English speaking eye doctor ?

one year ago I went for a full check-up and the eye doctor? who examined me said all was fine.

This is the first timee this has happened....

    thanks for your suggestions

  13. Tell me this. Why do many Americans not realise they are a laughing stock to the rest off the world? No one likes him. His foreign policy is all wrong. The world is gonna a wake up to the fact he is still in power. As i write this it is not 100% confirmed. But its not looking good. The rest of the world has now got to endure another  4 years. Can you say you will sleep better tonight? Do you feel safe? If you travel and you are American. Do you feel safe being American? as i said this is not 100% but i think it will be. I need another drink! :D  :D

I think it comes down to the un educated/red neck states. If you noticed where Kerry won his votes, they were all from the educated/business sector, like California - 55 college votes, New York - 85% and the list goes on.

The majority of Bush's support comes from the non passport holders, who havent travelled, watch Fox news, donate to TV evangalists and generally lie around taking up space.

The world is now at war for another 4 years and 50% of the US population is to blame for it.

I would also call myself a Canadian if I was a yank! Good Luck, you guys are gonna need it!

Tornado I do wonder where you are from and how much education you have, if you think California is a state that is an "educated business sector" as you call it, the state is half full of perverts and the rest are a bunch of under educated hollywood actors who add nolthing to society except leach money from the public and do everything in excess including drugs, you tell me this is not true. Read up some and maybe you will be able to express and post an educated opinion.

Thanks again George for leaving this thread open.

Well thanks for the flame there GR - nice one! :o

If you do not think New York and LA are not the hub for business in the USA, you would be mistaken. Now toddle off and read Forbes! It has piccys too :D

Not flaming you at all Tornado, a spade is a spade to me. :D
