I LOVED Dim Sum in San Francisco, but have never had any that was very good in Thailand.
It all seems the same as the cheap ones that you can buy for next to nothing on the street.
I don't mind paying 700 baht for something special, but is it at the Oriental?
Yes, U.G. it is. Don't get me wrong I might not be an expert on DimSum, but I did enjoy it so I reported it.
Hopefully you will as well.
Regards

Popped into the Fujian restaurant, at the DD Mandarin Oriental for Sunday lunch, originally wanted to try their Farang Ses restaurant, but that is not open till 7 in the evening. The Dim Sum was priced at 700 bath a head, for as much as you wanted to eat. This also included soup, chicken with noodles in black bean sauce and canteloupe ice cream on tapioca and green tea. There was a nice variety of Dim Sum, so if you'd like to go for a special treat or just fancy a change then IMHO it is worth the journey down there. As usual the service was very good.

Or maybe there are a lot of football fans waiting to see who their team will sign before the transfer window closes at midnight in the UK.

Possibly brought on by the beating he took when the locals caught him.

As for the countries that do not use visa for traveling, Mr. Kantathi said that this issue will be discussed again.
The end of the 30 day entry stamp? It has been suggested for about three years that this was "on the cards", maybe now it will happen.
That may has an adverse affect on the tourist trade. One of the nice things for a lot of visitors is that they do not have to mess around getting visa's to visit the place.

... I didn't create it - Thai Poorly did, about a year ago ...
Yes I remember Tie Poor Lee thought it up a while ago that's why I thought you might have been able to create something new.
I did improve it by adding a 'Mr.' in front of it - or not?
Enough name calling..back to the Golf Day...how on earth did I get involved in all this

HI TP,
If I'm not working count me in.

I was suckered in to buying a LazyBoy last Dec (it came with a free glider). My suggestion is to be careful. I've learned that promotions or sales usually mean that something is wrong or that the product is an old verson. Both my chairs have fallen apart since I've bought them and the "warranty" is useless.
HI EoW
Sorry to hear that. I have the vibrating one for the last year, and its still going strong.
Bought from the home depot beside Carrefour. Where did you buy yours from?
-
You could always look at the Khoa San rd site. There are several travel agents on there.
-
Last year there were several posters that stated they were interested in buying a Lazee boy lounger.
Well, just noticed in home depot yesterday,( next to Carrefour), that they are on sale again, so now would be the time to buy.
Cheers

Whats the difference between a ball of snot and a brussel sprout?
You cannot get your 5 year old son to eat his brussel sprouts!!!!

The last time I was in CM I ended up in the restaurant D2. We all found the food to be very good, though not cheap, still no where near the price of Le Crystal, nor The House,(both of which I enjoy going to). I would suggest it for a special occasion with several people. The only downside is that the decor is slightly cold and the atmosphere was slightly sterile. However fire a coupleof their excellent cocktails down the "old Gregory" and you can soon start making your own atmosphere.

Derogatory comments about the OP's wife are uncalled for, as are suggestions that he go home.
As indeed are the OP's wife's remarks!!!
I will always acknowledge another "Farang" out in the street, supermarket, in a bar etc. Sometimes they will nod back, say hello etc. If they don't I feel that its their loss. If a conversation ensue's fair enough, take it from there. The thing is not to get down hearted about it. Maybe some people have had a bad day!!
As TP mentions, get to some organised mixer, if you feel you don't like it there then you can always leave, but do make the effort to get to know some of the guys up here and I'm sure it will be reciprocated.
P.S. I'm neither a paedophiles, drug dealer nor pimp, I have a valid visa and can return to the UK/Ireland any time I please. Neither am I a sexual deviant, but there you go you can't have everything.
-
Well congratulations to you and your wife. I wish all the best for you and your new family.
Try not to live too close to her family when you eventually go back there, it might ease your pain a little. If you do have to live close, do as one of the posters on here has done, made the upstairs portion of his house a no-go area for the family.
That aside, all the best to you, from a Mayo exile.

I don't mind if a restaurant owner doesn't come right over and kiss my butt. I'm not trying to be friends with him. I just want to have some good food.
It comes naturally to some people to really treat a customer well (Dominic at Laughing Lephrecan) and I enjoy it if it feels sincere, but it is not something that I demand.
However, it looks like some people do.
I too do not "require my butt kissed" as you put it, however, an occasional " Thank you, good night" after spending my hard earned money in there, (I only used to go in to have a drink rather than to eat), would be a nice civil touch, don't you think? With the demise of the seafood restaurant across from the place I doubt very much whether they will see me again.
I'm sure that the owner there is not too bothered either.

How does The Pub rate in all of this, I find it friendly, nice lasses behind the bar and good food. Mine hosts is a sociable guy who seems to have his punters best interests at heart. Car parking aplenty and then as a bonus there's Dot and Tom!!
Used to be my local eons ago, but might have to give it a try again, as it's withing stumbling distance
I wondered where "Dot & Carry One" had ended up
While on the subject of goods and bads, Has the Bears Den closed??/ go by there frequently and the gate always seems to be closed.??
I made the mistake of going in there early one evening in a pair of shorts. The mossies had a field day, and I was sat in at the bar. Don't know if its closed, may well be.

Perhaps the staff at O'Malley's learnt the fine art of being little turds from their Canadian boss Scott
I couldn't possibly comment on that!!!!!!!!!!
Though I have seen him in there on several occasions, I have never had him say as much as good evening/day to me. As I said earlier though, if thats the way he wants to run his buisness then so be it. I doubt he will have my custom again though.
-
The only times I use O'Malleys was when we would come into town to eat at the seafood restaurant in Anusarn market, the one that was immediately opposite their front door, however that place has been sold up. It looks like I will not be venturing in there for a while.
I can fully understand the posters opinions of the staff there, though saying that I feel that the owner/manager should be able to see whats happening and how the staff talk/treat the customers, surely it is down to him to sort them out if he wants a successful buisness, (personally I would be down there making sure the customers were happy).

The Irish didn't do too bad building your canals, railways and motorways though did they, though admittedly not in 4 days.

What about some of the old classic movies that are still available:-
The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca.......... Bogart at his best.
Double indemnity..............Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck, with screen play by Raymond Chandler.
As mentioned by other posters, the list could go on and on and on.
