  1. I wonder has any one been in a similar situation as myself and if so how did they resolve the problem.

I have been divorced for 18 years now, and am now looking at re-marrying the lady I live with. I see in order to prove I am divorced I have to sign a declaration at the Brit. Emb. and provide proof;i.e.; the original copy of the decree absolute. I have never even seen this document let alone managed to get my hands on it.

I have sent off and recieved a copy of the original, verified by a high court judge and stamped as such, from one of these agencies that deal in this type of thing in the UK. My question is would this suffice in lieu of the "original" decree?

I'm sure that someone else must have had this problem in the past, and I would be most grateful if they could give me the benefit of their knowledge.

    Thanks

  2. "There is also a DHL opposite the FEDEX. FEDEX tends to be the most expensive with UPS the cheapest."

I beg to differ there, I found it the exact opposite. I have sent the exact same package, 1 cd rom plus I sheet of papar, down to Perth, Western Australia. The cost with DHL was some 2500 baht whilst the cost with FedEx was 750 baht. Both taking the same delivery time.

  3. "There is a 9 hole course on Mae Joe Road (Called Sansai Golf and Driving Range). I believe that it is 250 a round."

I use this course quite regularly when I'm home, the last time was in December and the cost then was 150 Baht, for this you could play the 9 holes as many times as you wanted. Whether it has gone up to 250 Baht I will be able to tell you about the 5th April when I get back.

You should be able to get by playing in trainers rather than purchasing golf shoes, initially anyway.

The one piece of golfing parapanalia I suggest you purchase if you play at Sansai is one of this extending ball retrievers used to get balls out of water hazards.

You pay for your day ticket at the main entrance to the driving range, where you can purchase bags of golf balls fairly cheaply.

    I hope this helps

  4. See the link below for the rates on the Amazon site.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/bro...7397118-8576740

As you can see this could be quite expensive.

For the last 3 months I have been working on a ship, and have managed to get people coming out to the vessel to hand carry my purchases to the vessel. I have had no problem ordering things and getting them delivered to 2 different addresses. I have not had to show any credit card invoices, or anything like that. Amazon have been very prompt in getting the right goods sent out, without any problems whatsoever.

  5. The thing that puts me off using Amazon is the charge of 10 dollars per item, for delivery into Thailand. So Iwait until I go back to Europe or the States and bring a large order back with me.

Usually get by picking up books in Singapore airport when en-route to work.

  6. I hear there is a little middle-eastern Fella selling quite a lot of diamonds on the cheap.

He says" they are similar to ones you might find in the big shops in the new shopping centre, only much much cheaper"

The only problem is meeting him in the dark alley with cash.

  7. I feel that any airport should also be judged on the ease with which the customer can get to and from it.

It would be interesting to see the travel times to and from the airport from Bangkok city centre at various hours of the day and night. I'm sure people will love having to leave their hotels some 6 hours before their flight departures to arrive there in time for international flights.

  8. I had just got back to U.K. afterspending Christmas and New Year, 1988, in the Norwegian sector of the North sea, it was early January. I phoned up the girl I travelled with in India the year before, just to wish her a happy New Year.

    "Where are you?" she said

    " In the U.K." said I.

" I'm going to Thailand next week do you want to come?" she asked.

    "I don't know" I replied.

"I can get you a cheap flight"

    "How Much?"

"235 quid return, LHR to Utapoa"

    "My card number is............."

The next week I was in Bkk., then we went down to Kho Samui on the train, and had a fabulous time.

And the rest is history as they say, though I like to think of it as the old Wayne Fontana record....Something keeps calling me back!!!

  9. You may get more information if you log onto the "Thorntree" site run by Lonely Planets. You can join for free and then put your question on the forum page and hopefully it can get answered.

If you cannot get a ferry/boat then there may be a possibility to go via Jamaica, try some of the carribean airlines etc.

    Cheers
