In defense of the OP, I can understand, to a certain extent, where he is coming from. I too went through a divorce several years ago, and ended up with a suitcase of clothes. I was fortunate in that I was 31 and was still young enough to start from scratch again. I worked hard, and now own a couple of properties.
I am still worried that I would lose the lot again.
You may sneer and wax lyrical about love etc. but until you have lost everything and had to start from scratch again I feel that you may be missing the OP's point.
F.Y.I. I am living with a Thai woman and have been doing so for the last 2 years, quite happily I may add. I will in time marry the lady, but I will make provisions for her and her 2 children in Thailand, so that if we ever part or I pass away before her, she will have property here, she already has land and a car, all in her name. However the property outside Thailand will not go to her.

On a slightly different tack lads, There is a horse called "Aussie Rules" trained in Ireland by Aiden O'Brien entered for the 2000 guineas next season, worth an each way punt at 20/1 at the moment.
Good Luck.

As my Scottish friend once said, " it's already Disneyland,,,,,,,,,,,this disnea work that disnea work"
The person/persons that thought this idea of a convention centre and OTOP market taking a big slice out of Disneyland's revenue needs to get out into the real world occasionally.

Was it originally known as"The Watermargin", or am I thinking of a different series altogether?

in Chiang Mai
Sorry gents, I will have to cry off, work has just handed me another assignment which will keep me working here in the Gulf of Thailand until approx. 18th August.
Sorry about that.
Jockstar did you get the PM's I sent to you regarding a couple of places with bands?

One of the adverts that made me laugh was the Wrangler jeans advert, where a young thai girl is wearing low hipster cut jeans, and the prudish/jealous old lady behind her presses her lit incense sticks into the young girls back. Again needs to be seen to.

I used 1222 in Chiang Mai, we are just past the outer ring road, I was continually losing the connection and after 10:30 at night the connection would never get above 32kbs/sec, in reality much slower, until about 07:30 in the morning. It was as if someone left the office and decided to turn every machine off except one, and left that to deal with everything.(I sometimes get up very early and it would still be the same, deadly slow).
All this after having to make anything between 10-20 attempts to get on line.
No, as far as I am concerned 1222 is a piece of s##t.
To compound it all I bought a ISP connection card from Rimping, ji-net(?) because it said on the front Local Connection, so when I flashed everything up it said, this system no longer in use please dial 1222. I ask you!!!
I used to move house regularly.
The service I got from 1222 would vary with each house.
You seem to be in a bad location. It is a local problem.
There is a thread somewhere here about bad connections.
A member who obviously knew what he was talking about gave some good suggestions. I think you may find it worthwhile to have a search.
Thanks for that Thetyim, I have gone over to the local ADSL link, that is much better. I also have a EDGE card for my laptop as well, better speed than the dial up and no disconnections.

My apologies, this is not an on-line station. Sorry.

Hi, the new station is called T.I.T.S. Radio, and I forget which frequency its broadcast on, I am tempted to say 104.5 fm. Any one (ajarn et al ) please correct me if the freq. is wrong.

If I am not offshore then I will be pleased to lift a glass with you gentlemen.
( when is it the Queens B'day, some time in August, am I correct?)

Hi Girlx, I have been using a Sony Ericsson EDGE GC85 card, I paid 6000 baht for it. I use the DTAC system on special offer, 1300 baht per month, for unlimited access. This works fine for me, I find the reception is better when I go upstairs. The only drawback you may find is that you have to open an account with DTAC, and if you do not have the correct visa it can be a stumbling block.
I live in Chiang Mai and find that the system is usually a lot faster than dial up and does not drop out anywhere near the same number of times.
I hope this helps.

I think you mean Sonny Terry and Brownie Magee.
But who could ever forget the fabulous voice of Darryl Banks when he belted out "Our Love is in the pocket", ( he was shot in the throat by a policeman in 1968), or JJ Barnes, the man that had Marvin Gaye so scared he threatned to quit Motown if Berry Gordy did not kill off his career. Another artist that was a major influence on the Beatles was Chuck Jackson, their favourite singer in the early sixties. Listen to some of Spyder Turners tracks, this is the man Elvis said he wanted to sound like.
There has just been a major 6 week series on soul music and its influence broardcast on BBC 2. If anyone in the Uk has taped it and is coming over to LOS, if they would be kind enough to lend me the tapes I would get them copied and return the originals to you.
I don't know if the BBC are going to put it out on DVD but by the sounds of things it will be worth picking up if they do.

If you go over to the Ban Talai, ( I think this is correct), area you should be able to find several furniture factory shops. Scope out what you like, then go home and discus with the boss.
After you have agreed on what you want let her go and buy it on her own, she will possibly get a better price than you would,(this is of course provided she is a Thai).
We paid 19500 for a suite consisting of sofa, 2 easy chairs and a large glass topped coffee table, all made from water Hyacinth. This equates to 400 euro's and they delivered it straightaway.
There are also some wooden furniture manufacturers out on the San Kampang rd as well.
Good luck

Does that mean that Thailand will become an IT "HUB" ? Maybe this time for real?

Going back to the OP's question. I was questioned in Perth at the very start of the year, luckily I was carrying the return portion of my Dub-Bkk-Dub ticket with me. This was at the Quantas check-in for the Thai airways flight.

Hi Asia Wolfie, I paid 5200 baht for a 80 gb/ 5400 rpm hard drive at a small shop in the Airport Plaza here in Chaing Mai. This was approx. 6 weeks ago. I think this worked out to some 104 euro's.
I hope this helps.

May be he should tell his big boss, that when his trips abroard are funded by the Thai people then he should not involve any other buisness in the government meetings, i.e., Shin Corps buisness. This would be a good start.

Anyone interested in old soul music could do a lot worse than listen to the Radio Stoke program that goes out every friday night at 19:00 UK time, it can be found here:- http://www.bbc.co.uk/stoke/music/northerns....shtml?focuswin
The following link will get you to the soul deep page:-

At the moment I am using a GC83 EDGE/GPRS PC card from Sony Ericsson with my Laptop. I got sick of the 1222 number continually in use and then the other ISP's dropping out continually. I managed to get a contract with DTAC, the girlfriend sorted it out for me. The system workd well, a little slowere than the ADSL on daughters desktop but about the same or fatser than the dial up and much more reliable. The GC83 pc card cost 6000 Bt.

Snoophound beat me to the punch re: thai children now getting much chubbier. There are also quite a few adults that are wearing xxxl gear. Are these Thai's also subject to such comments from their own country men/women, or is it just falangs that are spoken to in such a way?

“There’ll be Blue Bells Over the White Cliffs of Dover” Vera L.
Okay then, I give up, what happened to the Blue Birds?

A few of the more obscure soul sounds:-
Slippin around Art Freeman
Strange Change Herb Ward
Dust my Broom Ike and Tina Turner
Baby Don't you weep Edward Hamilton.
I'm gone Eddie Parker
Stick by me Baby The Salvadores
If you ever walked out of my life Dena Barnes
A little Lovin sometimes Alexander Patten
Cause your mine The Vibrations
Just Lovin You Ruby Andrews
Any blue eyed soul list would, IMHO, have to include Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Dusty Springfield, Evie Sands, Bobby Parris, Dean Parish (both the last 2 are Puerto Rican rather than caucasian), and possibly Paul Young.
If you get chance to watch the made for television movie of the Temptations, do so. Those guys could teach most rock groups about bad behavour. Though the movie did not touch on the acquisation that David Ruffian caused the tumor that killed Tammy Terrill by beating her about the head with a hammer.
Still ain't too proud to beg is one of my all time favourite tracks ever.

Also stayed at the Empress's sister hotel, The Park, further down the same road. Sevice and rooms were good, if I remeber correctly, though this may be a little far out for you.
