  1. I'm sure you've heard this old saying XY: "you want to become a millionaire in Phuket (?), start with 10 million".
  2. GypsyF post a year ago: "The Manila Airport area is a war zone; Gangs are roaming around, shots are fired nightly and lot of robbers are staking hotels... Hotel had 4 armed guards, the whole building had steel fence and when I went to near by small store they came along. Not an over kill! A group followed us on the other side of the street. Mean looking filthy desperate guys in 20s. My Pinoy friends couldn't believe I stayed there for 2 nights. Nobody wanted to come there to meet me so I left. I didn't know better." - unless you are flying out right away, why would you stay there? -your odds and probabilities of being assaulted and robbed walking around in the poorest parts of third world cities like a numbskull goes waaayyyy up. -thats why the one poster had police in Manila telling him to move on to safer areas as they didn't want to find his dead body. - you walk around the favelas on the hills outside Rio, you will dissappear -you walk around Compton at night (Los Angeles) most likely you will get robbed, possibly killed. My point is why when on holiday are you putting yourself in super risky areas? This isn't the Anthony Bourdain show.
  3. Kata Beach Resort is on the sand with great pools. Might be over your budget. Across the street and heading toward Kata circle are a bunch of hotels and thats just behind Club Med. No pool, but you have the Andaman Sea steps away, The Kata Sun. Nice benefit there is you are over the top of Kata Mama restaurant, which thinking of that makes me really want a pad kpao.
  4. It's in such a big glass of water that it's diluted to the point of not being a problem there. Do not recommend drinking it straight up. Sure beats downing the chemicals.
  5. Sorry if others have seen this and am repeating myself, but Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother, that's the cloudy particles in the ACV, one big tablespoon in 16 oz mug of water every morning will kill off the acid reflux. Changes the acids in your stomach.
  6. Carry on Xy, we appreciate the reports. Wine Connection Restaurants were sold to an investment group some years back, the owner maintaining a percentage and his import/export company. So it's not surprising the quality is coming down, investment people looking at costs.
  7. I was being sarcastic but really, walking around in rough neighborhoods in 3rd world cities for "vibes and adventure"? 🤣
  8. "that I was travelling up & down the rail network"..... in a rough part of a big Third World City? Is that what you do on holiday? Nightclubs and women are out?

Couple packs of Camel, no filters......WHY NOT!
  10. Keep on trucking XY ! Happy bday.
  11. I think that is the point of the article. "Food Destination" in a travel magazine. The subscription base of Conde Naste probably does not include Fitzwilliam from Blackpool.
  12. Lifetime Visa, for US$ 1,500? Where do I sign up? It's a varied country, seen peeps here say worst place ever. Clearly 3 weeks in Angeles. Manila is dodgy 100%. Northern Luzon coastal, great. Boracay (o.k. touristy, still love it) Palawan lots of chill villages between PP and El Nido. Food sometimes is harped on, rice and chicken adobo some veggies, fine. On the coast rice and fish.

I think it went to the new "Indian chap loses gold chain" forum.
  14. The Don and his Maga followers will claim a Democratic "witch hunt" (gee never heard that expression before). Presidency, House and Senate are all Republican controlled (that's why blaming the Democrats for the government shutdown is ludicrous) so nothing will ever come of this no matter how much info comes out. Dead end, move on, nothing to see here. Lastly another one we have never heard before, "it's a hoax".
  15. I was in a van on Palawan going from Puerta Princesa to Port Barton last March. At one point we came to a place where they were trying to repair the road, previous storms had washed it out, main thoroughfare. You could see how the water could have come from the hillsides. I can't imagine what that looks like now...............along with the little village there.
  16. Six pages for this Troll? Stop feeding the Trolls.
  17. 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar with "the mother" (cloudy particles in it) in a 16 oz glass of water every morning. Worked for me, changes the acidity in your stomach.
  18. Super high bidder in Myanmar, ends up being a psycho murderer. No repercussions here! RIP
  19. Same with Phuket. Super poor behavior by foreigners, many Thais fed up.
  20. Way back when an American guy had a Mexican restaurant in an old French Embassy in BKK. Los Cabos I think.....he'd fly in the poblano chiles for the chile rellenos, I'd fly in from Phuket to do a couple nights of those. Now thats good American eating, Mexican food, real Mexican not some sham taco slop. Is that French Embassy building still there?
  21. I once got seated behind two rows of Indians, men and women on a long haul flight. Got seated and it smelled of a B.O. farm animal yard. Told the stewardess "no way", 12 hours of this? They found me a seat in a different part of the plane.
  22. Give me a beach shack, don't have to worry about big cement landing on you, although corresponding tsunami might be a challenge.
  23. Best of luck Simon, did look at the album, the travel pics are great. Thank you for sharing.
