  1. Hi, I’m a Brit applying for a single entry tourist visa to Thailand at the embassy in Phnom Penh

I have to provide proof of entry and exit from Thailand. I will be using the bus.

My question is, when I submit all the documents can I provide a copy of a bus ticket  that shows I will leave Thailand 90 days after entering? The visa will be for 60 days but can be extended once I arrive.
Will they give me a 60 day tourist visa with a bus ticket to leave after the visa has expired?

if anyone can help with this, thanks in advance

    Bill

One of the questions on the eVisa website requires you to upload all of the pages in your passport showing your foreign travel for the last year... Given you will have alot of in and out travel and no indication you have returned to your home country your chances might not be too good..

What would be my chances of taking a flight back to Bangkok rather than the bus and getting a permission to stay for another 30 days? Any ideas?

    Cheers

Your thread title suggests you intend to apply for an e-visa. That is officially not allowed unless you are in home country. The application might still succeed.

If applying for a tourist visa, instead, at the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh, it is hard to assess your chances. It appears that you have no prior tourist visas issued in the region (which counts in your favour) but a lot of time recently in Thailand as a tourist (which counts against you). You may or may not be issued with your visa.

Applying in Vientiane (where you need an appointment) would give a much higher chance of success.

Okay, my last evisa was obtained while I was back in UK for a month

i didn’t know you had to be in your home country to get it though. I do recall a question on the form asking my present location but no info on where I can/can’t apply from

i don’t want to lie on the form. I’ll be arriving by bus from Siem Reap!

perhaps my best option then is in person from the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh?

  4. I'm a Brit who has been in and out of Thailand for the last 14 months. Mostly on a 30 entry stamps.

Up until August '23 when I got a 60 day  tourist evisa. I didn't extend it when it ran out on Sept 29, instead I came to Cambodia and I want to apply for another 60 day single entry tourist visa while I'm here, to re-enter Thailand on 28 October (I will have been out of Thailand for 1 month)

My question is will they give me another tourist visa, considering my history?

    Thanks for any help

I’ve just done exactly that… & stuffed up the process.

Took a sleeping tablet at about 11pm… slept through to 11am !!!!

That pushed my ‘time re-assimilation’ in the opposite direction.

Travelling Eastwards It takes a week IMO ( from UK ) and going to the UK it takes 3-4 days to kick jet-lag.

I didn’t want to hit the sleeping pills for a load of consecutive days so I gave up & just dealt with it… then a week in took a ‘gummie’ (cannabis) which helped me nod off & get a solid nights sleep.

So, I’ll try the gummies next time.

It's been over a month for me trying to deal with a messed up sleep pattern. I'm awake all night then finally get off to sleep around 6am and in bed until midday!

Alcohol doesn't work for me. As soon as I stop I got back to the previous sleep pattern. I took some strong sleeping tablets here last time I was here which I bought over the counter but can't remember the name or the pharmacy! ????

I went through this a while ago and nothing strong avail over the counter. The stuff avail from the doctor is pretty nasty and some addictive. Thais take a very cheap antihistamine allergy pill, about 60 baht for 100. Your mrs probably knows them or u can explain to the pharmacist. They will knock you out but affected me sometimes the next day, like I was only half awake. If ur interested will get u the name. Chloramine or something like that from memory

Yeah, if you have the name, cheers

Not the strongest; however, I have found Codiphen ( Diphenhydramine, drowsy antihistamine ) works very well for me.

IME pharmacies in Thailand stock it. Non-addictive.

AFAIK barbiturates are the strongest sleep medications, they would only be available on prescription from a hospital pharmacy. Street pharmacies would not stock them.

Thanks but it would need to be something stronger than Codiphen. I have tried that but didn't work. I bought some last year that were strong but can't remember the name

    Cheers

    Yes.

You are actually extending the permission of stay (60 days) stamped into your pp when you entered.

The actual SETV is gone (used) when you entered Thailand.

Since you entered with visa if you are obtaining the extension in Bangkok you attend CW.

Visa exempt entries obtain extension at LakSi immigration office..

Good to know! Yes, I extended at Lak Si before

  9. Hi I'm a Brit here on a 60 day single entry tourist visa. Earlier in the year, I entered Thailand two consecutive times on 30 day entry stamps and used up quota of 2 extensions allowed per year (as I understand it?)

Does this mean I won't be allowed to extend my tourist visa at immigration?

    Thanks for any help

The E-visa platform was put together to cover a variety of visas and some questions are not always applicable, but you may have wanted the visa to visit family. Unfortunately it is a feature of the process that you must answer every question.

I would suggest you write on a piece of paper something to the effect that you are only visiting as a tourist, take a photo and upload that.

Those in possession of a visa shouldn't need an onward ticket, only those on visa exempt. If there does happen to be any query over the ticket you can say you plan to travel overland to a neighbouring country.

Thanks for the answers. I know I won't be asked to show onward flight to the airline if I have a visa but are you saying they will issue me a visa without proof of onward flight?
