Hi, i'll be applying for a Thai visa in a nearby country's Thai embassy. I need to show proof of an onward flight out of Thailand at the end of my stay. What's the best site to use for one of those tickets that you can then cancel at very little cost?
Thanks in advance

I spent time in Portugal two years ago as country opened up after covid. I was amazed at how beautiful the country is. It's historic, with great food and much cheaper than countries in 'northern' Europe...your euro goes further there! The weather is great too!
Go and have a look then make up your mind...????

No nothing like that. I was also concerned it might be a problem, but they didn't even mention it in the end.
Thanks for that

I can help, Brit here who applied in KL last September. I just provided an Airbnb booking receipt and got my visa next day.
Thanks, I take it there wasn’t a tax payer number on there either?

Hi, i'm a Brit and will be applying for a Tourist Visa at the Thai embassy in Kuala Lumpur next month. The application form and requirements look pretty straight forward all except the requirement...
Proof of payment for accommodation for the whole period of stay in Thailand (the receipt must state the tax payer number of the relevant hotel/accomodation (as stated on the embassy website)
This doesn't leave much room for flexibility Is a booking okay? Not sure that will provide the tax payer number though. Is there a work around for this?
Thanks in advance

They won't need proof of onward ticket as they have a visa. Just show the visa at the airline checkin counter if asked. Immigration won't ask either

The way I understand it is you have to have accommodation booked up until the date of your flight out of Thailand, so you book a few weeks and get a cheap or cancellable or movable flight leaving on the last day.
Thanks again

Your situation is virtually identical to mine. I've been in and out on one tourist visa and two exempts since September. How many times have you been in and out on Visa exempts?
Since last August i've entered Thailand on an entry stamp 4 times, I've been to immigration twice to to extend my stay

The first thing you need to understand is the appointment system for KL. The appointment system works 14 days in advance so if you had logged in yesterday the only day available was the 16 May. If you login today the only day available is the 17 May. If you check on Saturday or Sunday the available day will be the first Monday after 14 days. That is why there are never any times available by 0600 on Monday. Tuesday times are normally gone by 0800 There are only 6 times available. To get your passport back requires 4 working days and must be pre booked, only two times per day available. To get your passport back the same week requires applying on a Monday or Tuesday. Applying on a Wednesday will get your passport returned on the following Tuesday afternoon due to the weekend plus 4 working days. From this you can see why there are normally application slots available on Wed. Thurs and Friday.
There have been numerous reports that they are strictly following the visa guidelines as below.
1. Original Passport with at least 6-month validity and 2 blank visa pages
2. A completed visa application form with a passport size photo
3. A copy of passport (ID page)
4. A copy of reservation/confirmation of transport tickets to and from Thailand
5. The applicant’s bank statement or bank book showing the account’s name and
number, balance and history of transactions for the last 3 months
6. Proof of payment for accommodation for the whole period of stay in Thailand
(the receipt must state the tax payer number of the relevant
hotel/accommodation)Very useful post. Thanks.
A tourist visa can be for 3 months, Do they expect me to prove i've paid for hotels for a full three months in advance when i apply?

Please report back on your experience applying for a tourist visa in KL. Over many years, the embassy there has fluctuated widely in how friendly it is towards those applying for tourist visas. I have seen no recent reports on the current situation there.
If you must return visa exempt, which airport do you plan to fly into?
I will do that if it helps.
I’ll be returning into Don Mueang, Does it make a difference immigration wise between DMK or BKK?
cheers

The OP indicated intention to obtain SETV .
OP, you can obtain a tourist visa without issue.
Given that your plan is to stay Malaysia for one month then with your history then returning visa exempt also an option.
Yes, makes more sense to me to go for a tourist visa in KL and cheaper too than keep flying in and out of Thailand for a visa exempt stay. Was just concerned the embassy might refuse a tourist visa application with my ‘history’
thanks for the reply

Hi, i'm a Brit and i've had many trips to Thailand over many years. Always trouble free
My issue is, i've been in and out of Thailand since last August on visa exempt and I've now used up all my extensions (2 per calendar year)
I'm flying out to KL next month and will be away a month. I will apply for a Thai tourist visa while i'm there. Due to the fact i've been in and out on visa exempt for the past 9 months do you think i'll have trouble getting a 3 month tourist visa?
Thanks for any advice

OP, do one more visa exempt.
You could consider purchase of "rent a ticket" . Not expensive.
In case of any hassle you could show and explain your going back to own country..
Some borders with Cambodia were playing the "show flight out" rubbish..
Suggest Nong Khai if it's not too inconvenient
Thanks for the reply. I just didn't want to waste time and money going to immigration and the chance i'm refused
Your point of having proof of an outward ticket when i go for the extension is a good one. I will have to leave Thailand then anyway so will buy one and take it with me
Cheers

Hi, i'm a Brit here in Thailand on a 30 day permission to stay
I first arrived in Thailand last August on a 30 day permission to stay. I have been going out for a month to neighbouring countries and then re-entering on 30 day permission to stay ever since.
This year in January i went to immigration and got a 30 day extension. When that expired I went to Cambodia for a month and entered again two days ago. At the border they queried why i was in Thailand so long and what i was doing. Fair enough and they stamped me in again for another 30 days
My question is by the rules i'm allowed 2 x 30 day extensions in a calendar year. I have only used one so far this year but due to the fact i have been coming and going to much over the past 8 months and they began to question this what are my chances of getting another extension at immigration when i apply for it?
Any help appreciated

Firstly, i would advise her not to close the account. You never know when you might need it again, they cost nothing to maintain and bank accounts are not easy to open in the first place
Contact the bank informing them you have now returned to the UK and give an address of a trusted friend or family member?

Yes, you are correct, Thailand uses UK numerical dates, not US. Just checked my True 'account' mine says; Valid until 29 Mar 2023 (28 days) so no possibility of confusion.
Cheers, i thought so. That means mine is valid for 3 months
Some great help here, i appreciate it! ????

Applying for a Single Entry Tourist evisa
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
Hi, I'm Brit applying for a Single Entry Tourist Evisa.
The online form is asking for "Identity of the person inviting you to stay e.g. Thai ID Card, Passport" Trouble is no one is inviting me, I have a hotel booking which I have submitted elsewhere on the form. If I leave it blank it won't let me progress to the next page. Any ideas?
Also, It just asks for "Travel booking confirmation" I have submitted proof of a flight into Thailand do I need to show a flight out?
Thanks for any help
