  1. Good day,

I have travelled to Thailand many time over the last 10 years.

I have been applying for, and getting, a multi entry, 12 months, Non Imm. O visa  based on marriage to a Thai national.

I haven't been in Thailand since February this year because of some surgery I had to have, I now want to return January 2020.

Now I have applied for the same visa only to be told that the Thai Embassy, in South Africa, is only issuing single entry visa because of the Pandemic.

They advise that I can apply for an extension of the single 90 day visit while in Thailand.

Is it possible that somebody can please confirm  that multi entry visas are not being issued, that

the extension can be obtained, also where from, for how long and at what cost

    Thank you for any advice.

You can obtain annual extension based on married to a Thai.

You will need to satisfy the financials.

I suggest "money in bank" best option.

400k for 2 months prior to application.

Have you used your 60 day extension to visit wife? You could obtain that to give you time to organize the financials.

    Thanks DrJack54

Or a one year extension of stay based upon marriage. You will need 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months or proof of 40k baht income.

The fee for all extensions of stay is 1900 baht.

    Thank you.

I don't want to apply for the one year extension just yet, just need to know that I can easily get a 60 or 90 day extension.

Firetv stick 4k is available in fortune town on the 3rd floor at projector108 in store, they have several pieces. Price 2900 baht. It is the US version of the firetv stick 4K.

They are also available on lazada from projector central/projector 108 for 2900 baht.

Dont know about dstv viewing but guess you could sideload the app and you would probably need a vpn to view that type of content.

I bought one and basically for me it is for youtube and netflix and a little bit of web browsing. There is a lot of Amazon content which mostly does not work in Thailand.

Have you considered the xiaomi mibox s based on googles androidtv os.

Thank you, basically I am looking at anything that enables me to get some decent sports channels and TV in general. I am pretty clueless about these gadgets so any advice given I will look into.

    Thanks again.

  5. Hi, Can anyone please advise if the Amazon Fire stick TV $K is available in Thailand, perhaps through Lazada?

I so, the price and does it work properly? Also, to access TV channels, like DSTV from, South Africa for instance, would I need to but a VPN.

    Thank you.

Precisely, after everything is booked and your visa is issued (if you need one) then no more than 72 hours before the departure you'll have to obtain the CV-19 test and Fit-to-fly certificates.

Submit them to the embassy preferably no less than 24 hours before the flight.

Only after that submission they'll issue the COE certificate.

Knowing Embassy's worldwide is that 72 hour window logistically feasible?

    Around what?

Please don't jam the system for those who have been approved and on the way to obtaining their COE.

Why are you trying to bypass the system that is specifically designed not to create unmanageable backlogs?

Please wait for your turn as others have already done.

You should only book the flight/hotel when you're permitted to do so by your embassy, they way the system is designed to work for now.

By finding your ways around it you just introduce unnecessary uncertainty for everyone by creating fully booked ASQ hotels.

Booked by the people who are not yet permitted to enter and must cancel or reschedule their bookings in the future.

The ASQ hotels should change the policy and not allow re-bookings and cancellations anymore

Or require to present an evidence of a booked repatriation flight, the only available flight for now, and not any other bogus flight,  before issuing a room booking.

I don't see anybody trying to bypass the system. The original post, mine, asked a simple question.

My follow up to ubanjoes reply stated that the air ticket was booked only because the Emirates booking clerk stated that as I am married to a Thai national there are no restrictions, this apparently after checking with his Supervisor, am I not to believe him? At the time of booking I had not seen any restrictions posted anyway other than a Negative Covid 19 test certificate has to be obtained before entry to the country would be allowed.

As of now you have to apply for a certificate of entry at the Thai embassy in the country where you are located.

You have to stay in one of the designated hotels for the 14 day quarantine. You can only fly on repatriation flights.

I would guess you flight on September 2nd will be cancelled unless things change.

Thanks ubonjoe. Yes I can see I will probably have to cancel, depends on the price of the hotels.

I think Emirates jumped the gun a little when they said they would be flying from Outh Africa on 1 Sept.

I asked at the time if there were any restrictions, they said as long as I am married to a Thai national there aren't. I guess they were maybe looking for bookings

    Where are the designated hotels?

    Thank again.

There are lists circulating online. The latest iteration I have seen contained nine or ten hotels.  Search "Thailand Alternative State Quarantine".  Prices vary quite widely. I have never seen any suggestion that the govt. designates a hotel for you.

Thanks Allane, can you please to tell me how I can get it online?

  10. HI,

I have a flight booked for a flight to Thailand on 1 Sept 2020, I am on a Non Imm. O visa based on marriage.

I see now I have to go into 14 day quarantine in a hotel. I understand I must pay but can anyone advise

do the authorities nominate which hotel I stay in. I live in Nawamin74 so prefer to stay in that area.

    Thanking you for any advice.

  11. Hi,  I understand that Thai Immigration require people entering the country to have Covid 19 Insurance to the value of $100,000.

My insurance company, in South Africa, says, in email, that my policy includes cover for Covid 19 healthcare services if needed. However it does not state this in the International Travel Benefit accompanying the the policy brochure. my question is will immigration ask for positive stated proof that I am indeed covered.

I also understand that people entering the country, I travel on a multi entry Non O visa, have to go into a dedicated quarantine area.

What is that area and who pays if it is a hotel? I have a house 30 kms from the airport so could I not stay there?

    Many thanks

I am not sure if you will easily be able to enter Thailand on September 1st. At this time it requires a certificate of entry issued by a  embassy and to apply for it has a lot of requirements.

You will get the normal 90 days you have been getting when your enter the country. Your visas expiration date is only the last day you can use it for entry to get a new 90 day entry.

If you want to stay longer than 90 days your can apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife.

Thank you ubonjoe, I always understood that expiry date was the last day I could be in the country with that visa. Silly me.

If you are correct that means I can re-book my flight back to S.A for 90 days after the 2 September?

I booked the flight through Emirates who advised that as I am married to a Thai national all was in order and no restrictions at that time. I have since read that Thailand require a negative Covid 19 test certificate to allow entry to the country If they require a certificate of entry, as you indicate, it will probably be a problem. So wait and see, as per.

    Many thanks.

How can discussion of VPN servers be "off topic"  in the thread "Recommended VPN"

@Alphim may well have a residence or family in SA that could use the solution I suggested.

  14. I have been traveling to Thai for a number of years now, on a Non Immigration O visa based on marriage to a Thai.

I have always stayed for the permitted 90 days, which suited us fine.

My Multi Entry Visa expires 5 November 2020. With the Covid 19 crisis I can now only get a flight to Thailand on 1 September.

This means I will only be able to visit for approx. 64 days.

Is it possible I can get an extension of 30 days or so? I have never needed to apply for any extensions so do not know

any procedures, or even if it is possible.

Any advice would be appreciated.  Thank you.

  16. Good morning,

If possible can anybody please recommend a reliable VPN for use in Thailand?

I want to pick a TV sports program from South Africa and have been told I need to use VPN.

I have never used a VPN before so haven't a clue how it works, how to set one up, or even where to get one from.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

no idea whats in store and no thoughts on the matter other than to say that after the coronavirus, Thailand will be desperate for tourists so i doubt they will have difficult to arrange insurance requirements if in fact any insurance requirements.

Thanks Steve, I've inquired about insurance from here in South Africa.

The cover seems to be the same as when I last asked but seems now the cost has soared.

Perhaps as you indicate there may be no requirement for insurance.

    Thanks again.

All our retile have involved destruction of tiles and making holes in floor for new cement to hold on.  Would your doors still fit with higher floors?  It is really not hard for them do remove and really not that messy and done quite quickly.  This is normally not a company but tile worker and one or two helpers that you get from recommendations of others.  Sorry do not recall costs and have not done recently.

Thanks lopburi3. I must admit I never thought about the doors. I guess if I went that way they'd have to be trimmed and re-hung and they are big doors. I think maybe go your will be best. I am a stranger to the area, in Bangkok in general know very few people, so hopefully somebody will come up will recommendations.

  19. Good day,

We have recently bought a house in the Nawamin area and decided to have the downstairs floors re-tiled.

Can anybody please advice on the following. The existing tiles are the original laid when the house was built +35 yeas ago.

They are in good condition, no cracks or breakages. The foundations are sound.

Will I be able to lay the new tiles over the originals?

Can anybody recommend a company that will do the job properly?

And finally what sort of pricing would I be looking at?

The job would be for an area of +/-8m x 4m and one of 3m x 2m.

    Thanks in anticipation
