Sadly the sale of alcohol could be restricted but not the consumption. So yuo will still have drunk Thais on motorbikes causing hvoc and drunk farangs who think standing on a corner with a hooked up garden hose soaking people is fun........... Would be nice if we could return to the 'real Songkran' not the modern drunken melee

Visa agents are a joke. Do it yourself.
Every country that is a member of the Schenegen Agreement has a website with clear instructions on how to applY. follow the instructions and you wont go wrong. Dont waste your money on companies as they are basically pen pushers ----- do it yourself

What kind of physical and mental illness would it take to do that sort of thing?
Depression ---- never been there?? I guess not.

Ideally you should flyscreen all entrances, vents etc to your attic.
That would lock them in and defeat the purpose

The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), Thailand’s so-called Red Shirt.....
If these people are 'Against Dictatorship' then why are they actively seeking the return of their own Great Dicktator - their Great Leader or are they only against certain dictators???
I find these red shirt thugs really boring and thaksin is still as bent as a nine bob note

Why not ban motorcycles during Songkran that would reduce the accident rate.........

There is no reason to set the locale to Thailand. Set it to UK or US and change the clock manually if necessary.
Which time zone do I use for the clock?
Also, have not asked before, what does everbody else's download pop-ups come up with, English or Thai? What settings does everbody else have?
Ok, Windows 7 user in Thailand, my regional settings are English UK and mt time zone is Thailand.
Pop ups?? Why worry about the language - block the fekkers. End of......

Could be cultural. Thais tend not to appear angry when in fact they may be seething inside. This can cause them to start acting like a pressure cooker and that 'steam' has to be vented somehow ---- the more 'steam' the longer the 'release.
Me I just let it rip - then calm down quickly.

Why not visit for a 'long holiday' leaving intact your ties to Canada - see how much you really like the place.
If you have property in Canada I would hold on to it for a while. Your property values in Canada will continue to rise the same cannot be said for Thailand which screws you if you decide to return home.

Hate to say it but food safety is not taught here. I went to a certain school being advertised here and the Thai chef instructor knew absolutely nothing about food safety. Raw chicken with uncooked vegetables and the such. Well, when i pointed out the situation i got a big fat "Never mind", i quickly dropped after i discovered he did not know a slicing knife from a filet knife.
In Canada most places selling food will not employ anyone who has not taken a two day food safety course. It would cost little for the government to set up such courses throughout Thailand.
My biggest fear would be that even if all people working with food attended the training it could become like motorcycle helmets. They know it saves lives 'but just cant be bothered'. tit

e walked into the Royal Tgai Office. Officer told my wife, then fiancee, to come back in two weeks. OR (there is always a caveat)..... for a 'consideration' we could get it in two days. Two days later we picked it up. TiT

Not wanting to spoil the party, but the market for counterfeit Scotch Whisky in S.E. Asia, especially in India and China, is huge. I've seen bottles of apparently premium brand Scotch on sale over in Laos for prices that say it was never anywhere near Scotland. Those in the know say that many of the counterfeits are so good that only laboratory tests can tell them apart from the real thing.
That applies to the commercial khrap like JW, Ballantines etc --- have never come across counterfeit single malt. Not even the run of the mil stuff like Glenmorange.
My M8 told me about Bowmore in Best - priice was reasonable but it was only a 0.75L bottle

John Belushi famously said in Animal House "you fuc_ked up,....... you trusted us". It would appear you have fallen into a similar situation with the rental company.
Try to negotiate a deal --- offer 20K, TiT, if they are running a scam they will most likely accept your offer. Then chalk it up to the joys of holidaying in Thailand.

What do police consider 'drunk driving' in Thailand??? I suspect around 0.5 g With, depending on the report, up to 600 traffic deaths during Songkran perhaps a zero tolerance policy should be adopted and enforced.
With alternatives such as taxis, baht buses, chea drivers, designated drivers, motorbike taxis etc. Is there any need (excuse) for drunk driving????

Latest test to Toronto ----- 5.72 download, 2.64 upload (Mbps of course)

There is no good time to be on the roads during the Drunkathong. Only 'less bad' times.

I'm with 3bb which costs IIRC around 600 per month. Just checked and am seeing 7.04Mbps download and 1.40Mbps upload.
Watch lots of live sports online and rarely have buffering issues especially since I managed to eliminate un-wanted 'pop-ups' and unwelcome 'ads'.

Thailand is a country where it is almost impossible to find a vet who will willingly euthanize a sick dog. No matter how much the poor animal is suffering. The distress caused to a loving owner is never considered.
Based on the above it is extremely unlikely that euthanasia for humans would be favourably received.
The 'do it yourself'' option from Pattaya hotel balconies still seems the most viable alternative.

Saraburi --- where if the fireworks don't kill you the road maniacs will.

An angry tuk tuk driver???

Another slap for Thai tourism...... its a miracle that any tourists still visit...... well obviously the ones who enjoy 'soup' will still visit Asia's 'BROTHel'.

Keep them below 90 kmph and ban them from using the 'fast' lane. May save some lives. Start on #7 between Chon Buri and Swampy. They should catch quite a few on a daily basis.

The best thing to do with this turd is to take it out to Kruger National Park and dump him within half a kilo of a pride of lions and let him try and walk out alone.
I agree........ reminds me of the kid on a game drive asking his dad, "why is one lion licking the other lion's ass???"
Father replied "the lion has just eaten a poacher and is trying to get the taste out of its mouth".

Fabrice Muamba awoke in hospital last night and was told that Torres had scored 2 goals.

Police Seize 880 Dogs From Suspected Smugglers

800++++ less stray dogs would have been a bonus.
Noticed more dtrays on Jomtien beach yesterday being 'encouraged' by a well meaning, if slightly deranged, woman. She was stopping every 50M or so dumping chicken/rice on the sidewalk for the strays......... and encouraging vermin such as rats..... the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
