  1. Stopped working at 44 and came to Thailand 20 years ago. Never worked again. People ask why I don't work, I tell them: "I'm lazy." that gets a wistful chuckle or two. Then I hear: "I could never stop working, I would be so bored." Then I say: "I have no boss, no work related worries. I have the time to exercise, eat right and take care of my body, don't drink or smoke. I have no wrinkles on my forehead from constant frowning, I have a full head of hair, my wife and I run 10k charity runs nearly every month. I have no paunch, instead I have an athletic build. At 50 I looked like a 30-something, at over 60 I look like a 50-year-old. What about you?"

  3. The Taliban needs international help? Can't they just ask Allah? Well, I guess Pakistan is also asking Allah...
  4. A better question is: Why does Christianity paint Jesus as so needy? Why does he need to be loved by everyone on this planet, past, present and in the future? Why did/do his followers try to achieve this "love" by torture, threat, blackmail, lies, manipulation, coercion? Actions which are incidentally all condemned by the same religion represented by Jesus, but at the same time absolved by that religion because they benefit Jesus. Christian churches really didn't do Jesus any favor by creating such a psych profile for him...
  5. Does that mean the "overall" economic growth isn't really "overall", and the poor at not part of the economy, after all? or - is the economy and the poverty rate growing at the same time? or - is the slight economic growth causing/depending on a rising poverty rate? so many questions... for Anutin

  16. So, once the customer base has upgraded their mobile phones, BoT will announce that mobile banking is safe again for a week or so, maybe? In any case, with the closure of branches, the planned elimination of tangible money and the gradual removal of internet banking, every financial transaction will be funneled thru mobile phones and their respective networks... Without viable alternatives I can see a bottleneck and disasters in the near future, if you depend on one system only all you need is one component failure... Keeping redundancies around until mobile banking is completely safe and secure and guaranteed by the BoT could be helpful.
  17. This is not about corruption, it's also not about Protecting the Monarchy. It's about preserving a law for its function to control, threaten and silence anyone who may be able to challenge authority. It's Unconstitutional, Undemocratic and Unjust, and the NACC is complicit in deliberately enabling and enforcing every step of this law's weaponization.
  18. a Member of Parliament (MP) is a lawmaker, as their central role involves representing constituents by proposing, debating, amending, and voting on new laws in the legislature So these MPs are indicted for doing their job, maybe they should have just slept like all the non-indicted MPs. The irony is of course that the indictment comes from the NACC whose mandate is to combat corruption..., so where is the corruption in those MPs doing their job? As the President of the NACC is a political appointee, it is realistic to assume that some of their cases are also politically appointed by those doing the appointing... It may also help that this NACC President is a Pol Gen, which makes him inherently familiar with corruption and ensures unquestioning compliance with those appointment wielders...
