A friend who is still in Thailand since over 1 year now said to me today that he will go back to Europe and told me not to come in July as I was thinking because everything is closed, people have to wear the mask even in their car, and on motorbike or face heavy fines,  and Phuket, Samui, Pattaya, everywhere it's like ghost cities, nobody in the streets... Nothing to do....Unlike Europe where everything is reopening now.

Also, when I look at all the formalities, certificates, bank statetements (no printing), expensive insurance etc etc to finally obtain  a visa and "sesame" to enter in Thailand, I start to think to go somewhere else either in Europe or to Domenican Republic on holiday ....

    They announced 7-day quarantine for vaccinated people, and you could use the hotel facilities after the third day if tested negative,. So we said Ok, we can live with that. I booked also a flight before end of April for the 24th June, as I will be fully vaccinated...A few days later they made backwards and changed the rules, they are really "#*!!@t , untrustable, by luck, I can still cancel or change my ticket for free ....if they put 14 days back for everybody, including vaccinated, that proves they don't believe themself in the vaccine !

yes, that's what I said: uncomplete vaccination, and with a bad quality/protection Chinese vaccine....that does not protect at all after the 1st dose or only 3%.... they have to wait 2 weeks after the 2nd dose to be protected at +- 50-54%...not enough...and this is how you select resistant variant strains...

The percentages of positive tests quoted is very worrying indeed as inter provincial travel is about to increase.

 

Of course, they barely tested as since 1 year they claimed to be covid-free !!! But virus was there..only not declared probably

but as said before, normal tourists will never have 45 days holiday per year...so ...nonsense ! A simple negative PCR or antigenic test and a proper medical insurance should be enough ! Otherwise tourists even those who can afford 45 days or 60 days will never come.

this has nothing to do with "quarantine"! The virus was already circulating, and "infection rate "is not really appropriate, well rather positive rate on increasingly huge numbers of tests...! Many are "asymptomatic" and nowadays that we know how to cure sick ppl,, very few ppl die, and not so many of the positive need to have medical assistance !!

No quarantine but a test before and a test at arrival, eventually followed by a 3rd test after 1 weeK. That should be ENOUGH !

Otherwise, tourism will NEVER RESUME , never come back until easy and affordable conditions would be taken with NO  QUARANTINE but eventually having to report on an application.

This is a wise advise.....

Exactly, I saw that coming since years already...just by comparing how empty "Walking street" in Pattaya was year after year at the same season...all this due to the "greed", the rampant racism, the scams, the more and more ennoying, binding and punitive rules towards honest long-stay foreigners like the TM28, the TM30, the fines at immigration without warning, without notice suddenly  if you didn't report yourself living in your own condo (the pinnacle of stupid**y)..Treating honest people like gangsters or children forcing them to report if they left the province to visit a friend and stay there for the week end...punishing even the friend...Not to mention double pricing, unfair police or court treatment in case of road accident between a thai and a foreigner who is always wrong and is seeen as an ATM to feed the corruption ! 

As long as they don't change the mentality, the rules and the rulers (the rigid army), and give us a kind of democracy, with the same rights as thais, like every foreigner receives in Europe, ...the tourism industry at least of all the middle-age or seniors once-expats that represents also a part of the revenue is dead.

I could cite more and more examples also what they invent at the custom when you send a parcel to Thailand...they suddenly tell you that you need supposedly so-caled "licence"..of course impossible to get and if you want to refuse and return the parcel (before it has been cleared) they say: impossible: you would need also a "licence" to export (!!!)..so "it's better to abandon the parcel, or pay 30,000 baht penalties plus 300 baht per day warehouse fees after the 2nd day that the parcel stays there...making all that unpayable because often doubles or triple the value of your shipment..They create those supposed rules on purpose: to keep and steal our parcels, it happenned to me as well as to another friend, I could not resist to tell this story here to add to this sentiment of "unpunishment" from some thais..and the "fed up"sentiment of many "farangs"...

Do or did any of the foreigners or expats readind this feel or lived the same situation ?
