Ditto on the remotes. They suck. I'm on my third replacement. Last time, the girl at the counter had to try several before finding one that worked. At least they don't charge for them.

It sounds like your seller used the EBay "Global Shipping Program". I found out, like you, that is a huge mistake. Crossy has given you the best advice. Whichever way you go, you will get your money back, but be prepared for a battle. And next time, only use sellers that do their own shipping, preferably by the postal service.

Guess you didn't see the sign above Makro's meat department; "Not For Human Consumption".

"Or just staying well away from the place ??"
Amen! If you can't carry your phone, some cash, or wear a watch and gold chain, why the hell do you want to even be in such a place?

If you like the night market type of thing, they have a pretty interesting weekend walking street. Stay at the Riverside Guest House, and you'll be right in front of it, and your room will be facing the river. About an hour north is Chae San National Park; very scenic waterfalls, hot springs, etc. In town, there is Central Mall, Big C, Tesco, and all that. You can take a horse and buggy ride to tour the town.
Sure, it's not Disneyland, but you can spend a pleasant day or two if you do a little googling in advance.

Send him a PM then.Where are you, Ubonjoe?
I was hoping for a definitive answer from an expert.
Also why don't you know the regulations of the country you wish to dwell in,seems a bit silly to me.
If you know the answer, why don't you enlighten me. All I have found is conflicting information.

The back up singer/musician on the Tom Petty clip is Scott Thurston, a long time cohort of Jackson Browne, and now a member of The Heartbreakers.
Thurston is a 5 star singer, multi-talented musician, and songwriter.
Kudos to Sipi for taking notice of him.

A poor black girl made good buys herself a (farmed) fur coat as a treat in her twilight years.
What is so wrong with that?
There's nothing wrong with that...except it's probably a fairy tale.
I'd be willing to bet the coat was loaned to the TV Production Company by the furrier in exchange for a credit at the end of the show, and possibly some PR at The Kennedy Center. It's a common practice with all those diamonds the stars wear at awards shows. The retailers are more than happy to loan out jewelry in exchange for free advertising that would cost a fortune. You will notice she removes the coat and drops it on the floor toward the end of the song. All choreographed for a dramatic effect. She wasn't wearing it because she was cold, and she didn't bring her own clothes from home.
It ain't no big deal...just a little crass. But it fit in with all the other glitz and glamour of this type of production. The performance was lovely, and complimented by Carole King pretending she didn't know Aretha was going to sing it. Sorry to burst any bubbles, but as the composer, King would have to grant permission to do the song in advance on TV. A good show, non the less.
I speak from experience in the industry when I tell you that everything is planned out for such a huge production. The main goal is to keep you watching. Nothing is left to chance.

I need a little clarity, please.
I will be renewing my US passport this month because they advise renewing 6 months before expiration. Current passport will expire in August.
I have a "Non-Imm type O visa" and am on an "extension of stay due to retirement" valid until July. Also have re-entry permit valid until July.
I do my 90 day reports by mail, with the next one due in April.
My question is, do I have to make a special trip to Immigration to transfer stamps from old passport to new, or can I just wait until I go to renew my extension in June?
Can I use my old passport number on the next 90 report? (mail in)
If I travel before June, can I just carry both passports?
It would be nice not to have to make the 2 hour drive twice during the next 6 months.

I'm crying over that disgusting fur coat.
You know for a fact that it's real fur? Funny, most people would be too engrossed in the music. More talent in their little fingers than you'll ever have.
Actually, yes I do know that the coat is real mink from Marc Kaufman Furs in New York. Do you really think that Aretha Franklin would appear at The Kennedy Center Honors in a floor length fake fur?
And don't think most people were so engrossed in the song, that they didn't notice the coat. Read the media reviews. The coat was as much a part of the production as the music was. Why do you think it's called "show business"?
However, I will concede that Aretha and Carole King have more talent than moi.

Chiang Mai's attraction is what it used to be. Even as recently as 5 years ago, it had all the livability it was touted to have. But it has changed dramatically due to everyone wanting those qualities. Now it's just another overcrowded big city with all the same problems; pollution, traffic, crime, and unfriendly people. It still has it's good points, but they keep getting harder to find.

Ebay item paid duty up front now have invoice from DHL

The shipping and duties are paid to PITNEY BOWES. That's who the second payee is on your receipt from Ebay. The seller is blameless; he ships the item to Pitney Bowes facility in Kentucky, and they take it from there. The seller does not receive the international shipping/duty costs you paid.
You must file a claim with Ebay. When you do, there will be 2 cases opened; one with the seller, and one with PB. Considering the damaged goods, I would pursue both cases. Explain the situation in detail, provide photos. Ebay has the records of what you paid for duty; you don't need to prove it. It will take some time, but you should receive a full refund. If not, file again with PayPal (assuming that's how you paid).
I just went through a similar hassle with an item that DHL said wouldn't clear customs (although for $300, they could find a way!) I refused, and filed a claim with Ebay. They balked, saying it was my fault. I filed with PayPal. After they collaborated, I got a full refund.
I don't know what your previous experience has been with the Global Shipping Program, but mine have been disastrous, and I would never consider using it again.
Be persistent and don't cave in. That's what they're hoping you will do.
