  1. Btw, you know those 20 baht orange juices dont taste like freshly squuezed juices sometimez, yes? So one time I observed from starbucks terrace a juice guy making a juice, didnt see him adding any water, I jumped to buy a bottle from him, but it was same. I think its jyst bad oranges, tangerines maybe, cos those juices never taste fresh to me. There is a really cute mototaxiboy right outside starbucks every night tho, if its any help to anybody.

Sent from my GT-N7100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

  2. But do vendors sell any kind of fruit juices or just orange juice ?

Orange, but at 20baht for small bottle, how would you compete with them. Main issue in pattaya now is that walking customers are Russian, and they hardly buy anything, even if you offered god juice at 20 baht a bottle, i bet they wont buy. Indians wont buy your stuff either, and they are now 2nd largest group on Beach rd. So who will buy your juice? :(

  3. Almost everyone use alchohol as remedy, to pass by and for recreational use. Why don't open up for something else that is less harmful. I would feel much better if my father use cannabis every night before he go to sleep rather than drink beer and wine.

    Peace to ya all.

Im pretty sure everybody agrees with that. People who argue about dangers of cannabis are payed hacks of pharma industry, or simply uninformed. They are losing the fight tho, cannabis is now legal in parts of the world, and its gonna move fast, progress cant be stopped.

  4. Thanks valgehiir for enlightening me, I have only been here a coupla days. So, did after 100 or so posts , did the govt. stop the beach road widening?

    You are welcome!

As for your question, no, this here is expat forum, it is not feedback section of a government web site. We don't petition the Pattaya city planners here. The intention here is to offer opinion and comment, it is not a guide for public policy, and city planning.

    Anything else, ask away!

  5. In my country a national highway was built, it cut through ten cities and hundred of town, mountains were levelled, rivers damed. Ten letters were written to the newspaper about it. In Thailand, nearly 1000 comments on a 2k road development. Weird.

there is a difference. If they built a highway straight through existing landmark area, say they leveled La Rambla in Barcelona in order to put a highway there, you would piss of many Barcelona residents. Or if trees were cut down in order to add car lane to Champ Elysee boulevard in Paris, you'd get more than 10 angry letters.

Beach rd in Pattaya is our Champ Elysee, as idiotic as it may sound. Beach rd really is our downtown, and almost only area in central Pattaya that isn't already quite ugly. There is nowhere to chill and just wonder around during a day in Pattaya, now Jomtien is only option.

  6. Recommend you change venue from Pattaya to perhaps Hau Hin (opposite sdie of the sea from Pattaya). Hau Hin is a mini Bangkok with clean air and better garbage disposal, beaches, malls and a multitude of foreigner restaurants.

Hua Hin? Mini Bangkok? You must be joking!

OP, whatever you do, avoid Hua Hin at all cost. Even if you stay inside your hotel room in Pattaya every day for whole 2 weeks, you have more fun in Pattaya than Hua Hin.

  7. Its ok I'm not a virgin Thai visitor, but thanks for your concern. My eyes are wide open but in the past I've avoided pattaya because of its reputation. I'll probably dip in and out of its more entertaining side on this trip :-)

just dip in, dont hurry to dip out, you will love it here! :)

  8. Shouldn't be using paper, it blocks the plumbing. Better to use the hose.

There is only so far Im willing to go to become real native. Besides, there are places with no hose, only a bowl with water. What am I supposed to with that??

  9. You could hire a jetski and have a great time zooming around ,i hear its great fun ,and then some jolly banter with the owners afterwards.smile.png

To suggest a guy visiting Pattaya for the 1st time to hire jet sky is not sarcasm, it is just bad advice. Jet sky ride that as advertised to cost u 1500 baht for 30 minutes is gonna cost you around 40 000 baht in the end. Its a scam. Pattaya residents know this scam. TV user i Claudius was trying to make funny, suggesting you should rent a jet sky. Don't rent a jet sky here, stay as far away from them as possible.

  10. I take walks on beach road during the day,and just see what's happening.I also check out the malls.

Beach rd is useless daytime now, even Joe6Pack knows this, alltho he will never admit this, he just wants to argue, but he posts cute animal pics so its ok.

Go to Beach rd after 7-8pm or so, but get out of there by 1am or so, ladyboys are high by then, and they dont joke around. The desperate one who havent scored by then are vicious, bestto avoid unless you want to see the real extreme part of Pattaya, if you do, make sure your health insurance is up to date, if yes, go for it, it is extreme city after all, so may as well be a kamikaze.

Why you go to malls? Even Starbucks at Central is useless, really bad location, no view, all concrete, avoid.

Stay at Jomtien day time, avoid Pattaya during day time cos it is so so bad, but after sun set wonder around, and thing will happen to you. Its all part of Extreme city package.

  11. Is it actually possible to feast at McDonald's? Seems very unlikely to me by any definition of the word that I know.

in Eastern Europe McD is considered a delicacy. On special occasions and when u feel like going all out, you order 3 cheese burgers, and maybe large fries, and mayo on side, not ketchup because everybody knows ketchup is commoners choice. Girl at counter treats you really nice, cos she knows u must be Hi So, for ordering such splendid and expensive feast.

  12. Incredibly, I saw a farang walking today under his own open umbrella! Obviously a member of Mensa International--I was proud that he chose to spend time in our cesspool.

you know how Hannity starts all interviews with 'Why do you hate freedom'?

I ask you, why do you hate palm trees!

  13. For the love of god, spend as little time in hotel as possible. Just walk around in our extreme city after dark, and wonderful things will happen to you. Dont walk around Beach rd after 1 am, terrible things may happen to you.

Don't you dare to golf here, you can walk around with a golf stick in Arizona if u must, here you are in extreme city.

Spend the day in Jomtien, 10 baht form Pattaya baht bus ride, hook up with handsome guy, or a girl if you must. Then later in the evening take a slow walk on Beach rd, sit down at Starbucks for latte w double shot of espresso, observe the girls across the road, that alone is better than 10 years on a golf course.

Decide what you like, and make friends, secure valuables in safe beforehand ofc.

Eat Thai food on the street, avoid tourist restaurants. While u eat check out person next to you, smile, go from there.

    Thats Pattaya!

  14. My experience has been the opposite. I mix up 100 and 500, too. They point out the mistake right away. I forget my phone, they come running after me in Walking Street. I lose a fancy golf GPS and get it back days later from a badly paid Thai.

You clearly need a nicer phone!

  15. Thai people smile and laugh usually when they are uncomfortable. So most likely you are assuming that they are smiling at you as a sign of friendliness but most likely they are just too polite to tell you that they think you are silly and may even make them feel uncomfortable.

You are correct, that is why Thai will never tell you your wai isn't wanted, they think you want to wai, and they let you. They even tell you how cultured and almost Thai you are, they will tell you waht a wonderful person you are, and how you are nothing like other, lesser foreigners. Truth is, they never tell you how they really feel about you, including your wais. If you are very lucky, you will make Thai friends who will tell you uncomfortable things, things that foreigners usually never learn about Thai culture and their views of foreigners and other things. It will take long time and luck to make Thai friends who open up about things that are very sensitive for all Thais.

  16. The lame argument that it is Thai culture and not yours is really lame. Living in someone elses native country and not showing respect appropriately is just wrong.

Not doing the wai does not equal not respecting Thai culture.
