  1. Che? Does it really sound such radical revolutionary?

I thought about it for an hour, and it is still not funny to me. Its like saying people who collect butterflies are funny. People have hobbies.

It is funny if a Thai chick pulls out Note 3, just to click on Facebook app, and make occasional phone call. She needs Note 3, cos all her girlfriends have Note 3, and she couldn't show her face w/o owning one too. Or if iPhone, it better be 5s, or she risks being laughed at and shut out of her social circle.

So maybe not even funny, more like sad.

Ok, lets hope poster JT will never find his ideal, perfect Chinese kitchen, and that guy into gadgets never finds a perfect phone, tablet, or a notebook.

Better enjoy relentless pursuit of perfection, yes? What if we find it? Sit and feel bored, who needs that.

  2. Thaksin is viewed as a statesman by the US and the 'go to man' whereas Suthep is viewed has...(enter your own description

    Nope.

Whoever comes out on top of this current disaster, will be recognised as leader,

nobody describes neither of those as Statesmen.

  3. Ask youselves, why, if Thaksin gained power because the rural poor were becoming politically aware, and (rightfully) getting fed up with their lot, did he use those exact same corrupt, feudal powerbrokers to get their votes? Why did/do the people continue to vote for those exact same corrupt feudal powerbrokers?

Why didn't Thaksin bring in a bunch of fresh new people with no history of pillaging the poor and really make a difference? Why were no lasting improvements made to education during his years of absolute power?

    Why?

Everybody knows the answer. People in the north and other rural areas are uneducated.

It is as simple as that.

At it will remain so, because both sides are interested in keeping it that way, both have use for cheap (slave) labour, and masses who will not ask WHY are we slaves in our country.

  4. Seriously why would they dig holes on both sides of the road and leave them open for months?Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

They probably needed to get to some pipes or cables, then found out, Oh, wrong road.. And forgot all about it.

No worries, in a year or so the wholes will be filled with dirt, nature has a way fixing things

    :)

  5. In the first two weeks of January, foreign arrivals at Suvarnabhumi International Airport dropped by 2.58 per cent to 604,189 compared with the same period last year

    ...

As for mainland Chinese, they have changed their trips to avoid protest-hit Bangkok, heading to Pattaya, Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai instead.

Hong Kong has also maintained its travel warning on Thailand at Level 4 (the second-highest), "reconsider your need to travel".

    Interesting!

Drop of your 2.5% at Suwarnabhumi, compared to last year, huh?

But hotel bookings are down 40 - 60%?

Pattaya is next to dead, so please no stories that Chinese are now flying directly to Pattaya!

Where are those masses of tourists hiding?

  6. This jet ski gang was so brazen, they chased their victims all the way into the Marriott Hotel lobby.attachicon.gifjet ski arrested.jpg

They hadn't counted on the manager demanding the police come and arrest them. Amazingly the police did arrest them.

Of course, never heard another thing about them.

    Probably back on the beach.

Yup, the cops took their guys away from Marriott, and probably told them to take it a bit easy next time, chase the victims to get their money, but maybe not Marriott, H, and RC, cos it starts looking little bit bad.

Whats odd, the jet sky guys weren't given a ride back to beach, to their work place. For some strange reason they were taken to the station, and photographed, like some common criminals. Very odd!

  7. The truth is for what this person actually NEEDS in a phone, something could be purchased for 4K baht that would be more than good enough. It's hilarious to me how many people are being seduced into buying much more phone than really need or will ever use. Speaking from experience, but I'm OK with it. I just find it funny.

You know, man needs very little. When it comes to smart phones, there are 2 types of users, rational people who won't buy a phone that exceeds their needs, and they are right. Basic smart phone is all any of us really need. Excluding gamers.

Then there is another type of user, a guys very much interested in tech, always after the cutting edge, and there is no rational reasoning behind it, other than that guy wants to play with nicest toy available.

I dont think it is hilarious at all. it is a hobby, being curious in what current top consumer tech is capable. It has nothing to do with what man needs. Man needs bread and water, we can live perfectly nice lives without ever owning a smart phone at all.

There is a poster at TV, Jingthing. He often posts restaurant reviews, he is a foody. Some may find his interest in different food, trying to locate THE best Chinese food available hilarious. I dont, I often read his posts, but not because the intricacies of Chinese soup, but more for great writing style. I understand him perfectly well, alltho Im far from foody, I eat when hungry, and do not get pleasure from well made food. He gets pleasure from perfectly prepared meal.

Being into something is a thing hard to explain, its not really a hobby, and not a fetish.. It is strong interest in something.. Most people have something that gives them pleasure, yes?

This very much goes for tech. There are people who like to play with a device, knowing it is current cutting edge, there is nothing better out there. They get pleasure out it.

It has nothing to with mans basic needs.

  8. I love my devices big. Have a Sony Z Ultra at 6.4 inches and can't wait for the 12.2 NotePro.

Sony Ultra is pocket device, yes? Why wait for something that is 12"? Would you leave the Ultra at home, and a carry a bag with a 12" tablet everywhere you go?

And why not get a 11 or 12" laptop, instead? Just curious. Isn't tablet inferior to any slim under 1kg laptop? Laptop is full spec pc, it has a keyboard, it can do everything, tablets only advantage is portability.

But at 12 inches what is the advantage over laptop of same weight and size?

  9. I think 7" Nexus is twice the size of a 5 inch phone. N7 is enough to read full desktop versions of any text heavy web page without zooming in.

Size of course matters only if u are mainly outside, for home use larger display is always nicer. But Im outside 12hrs a day, often more, 7 inch is the largest that can be with me all day, without any effort. Anything that doesnt fit in a pockets stays home.

  10. 1100 usd for premium phone while others sell for 650 usd range? Samsung must be nuts!

So they'll put metal body instead of cheap chinese plastic and ask twice more?

It won't be $1100 US, no way, unless Samsung will release a line of super exclusive devices, aimed at different market, not a mass product device, like their S series flagships have been for 2 years now.

Iphone is established the sealing people are willing to pay for a phone, and that is around $800. For a regulAr, top of the line phone this is it.

If Samsung makes something out of stainless steel, safire glass, thats another story,

everybody remembers Nokia 8080 series, stainless steel, safire glass, they did cost 1000 Eur in 2006, a basic cell phone, but closer to a luxury item. They sold well, Nokia had 3 versions of 8080 after 1st year of release.

  11. I also think the 8.4" looks interesting. Very good specs. too, it looks like they have UBS 2.0 and even 3.0 for the 12"s

The size is a very difficult choice, I guess it all depends what you gonna use it for. I read a test of the Nexus 7 and the tester said that the 7" is a bit too small and too close in size to a 5" phone thus you might not bother taking it out when you can do the same tasks on a 5" smart phone which you typically have handy in your pocket.

+12" is a very big tablet, you gonna get a lot of exercise of your "e-net surfing arm" ha-ha, way too big for me but that's me.

No no, there is huge difference between 5 inch and 7 " device. Pretty much all new phones are 5 inch now, it is becoming standard, next Samsung S flagship will be out in few months, and it will be 5" or sligtly even bigger.

Pls visit Banana IT in Central, I think you've mentioned you are around Pattaya, they have finally new Nexus 7 there, as of today I havent seen 2013 N7 anywhere else in Pattaya, please check it out!

It can't be even compared with anything 5"!

  12. You said it how it is. Malaysia and Singapore have not got the girls and cheap living that's what we all here for...Don't let anyone tell you there here for the weather and food etc rubbish

I can't remember when I was last time with an Asian, I don't like Asians that way at all.

Many people are not here for that at all, but because the lack of snow, and it is very cheap place to stay for several months out of the year. I have few friends foreigners, all 30s 40s, only one guy I know is here mainly cos of easy lay.

  13. Malaysia is very nice. Much more organized, but also a bit more expensive than Thailand. Malaysia seems to have a grwing professional middle class, too. I like the way they follow traffic rules.

Have been to malaysia many times. Cant think of a single time anybody was rude, aggressive, hostile, contemptuous and can think only once or twice when i was slightly over charged in a tourist area.

Thailand stands out within the region for its frequently unpleasant behaviour and attitude. I visit thailand despite the people, as i still like the feel of the country in general a d i have many foreign friends. I dont know how thais became the ugly culture of asia but they need to do something about it because the world a getting rapidly sick of their shit.

    Agree with every word.

But even after several weeks long visits to KL, I still find it boring there.

Thailand has to become just a bit more openly rude, violent, dangerous to walk at night, and show little bit more open contempt towards foreigners, and I spend my 6 months of winter some place else.

But it wont be Malaysia. Most likely Spain, weather in the winter is not nice at all, but no snow so its doable, and it is very affordable.

Canary Islands would be good choice weathet wise, but it as boring as it gets.

  14. If it will look anything like on pics, and 2560p resolution, 5.2 inch display.. very nice!

It's about time flagship S series starts using quality materials, and not cheapest plastic available.

Samsung makes some of the best phones around, and the same time the ugliest. Time to move on and start using glass and metal. And please no more rounded phones, shaped like soap boxes!

  15. I like the idea of large tablets.

For me a tablet you hold and carry needs to be like the Tab 8 or smaller .... "Phablet syle".

Anything from 10 up is for placing on your lap or on a table ..... so why not go for 12 inches.

I could go for the schoolboy humor angle and ask if the 12 inch only comes in black .... but I'll resist.

Even in black this size is quite rare!

The Pro series will be nice, no doubt, 2500p resolution, thin and higher built quality than their current shiny white things.

But I like up to 7", fits nicely, in a rear pocket. If Samsu comes up with something nicer than 2013 Nexus 7, I will check it out.

  16. Skytrain sucks. I sit in traffic on a bus over using skytrain all the time. Even Saturday coming home from the airport with my heavy bags, I got off the airport bus, convinced myself not to be a pain in my own ass and just take the dam_n thing bc BTS would never notice if I take it or not, but then got upstairs and saw the nonsense with the lines etc (even though outside was DEAD QUIET), went back downstairs and took bus #29 and used the pedestrian bridge when I got off. A lot of extra sweat, but I hate giving my money to that assinine company.

How do you hate a transit system, do you object the train being elevated off the ground, instead of being under ground? Is it the color of the trains? Is it cos of the efficency and speed?

U prefer the bus, so its prolly cos sky train does not pollute the air.

  17. For some reason you used a word 'treason', in a topic about politics of Thailand. There is no such word in Thai dictionary. In any country of Western democracy, you would be correct using this term.

Oh, please. I'm no expert on the Thai language, but even I knew that one from watching some of the historical soap operas. Unfortunately I can't type Thai on this machine, and different nationalities represent sounds differently, but my preferred attempt at phonetics would be /gabot/, or maybe /gaboat/ or even /gabote/, in any case with a long 'o', rhymes with the English word "boat."

No one is talking about Thai language, or a translation of some word.

In Thai politics and power struggle there is no such thing as treason.

Someone argued earlier that army pushing out current gov is treason. No, in Thai politics this is business as usual.
