In case anyone is in the same boat I got the evisa and sentiment at both ends was that VOA would be unlikely yet I saw several Caucasians in the queue for VOA and no frowns from the staff. Make sure you have a return ticket. Cambodia is providing up to six months of tourist extensions for those stuck.

Thought I'd mention Cambodia again. Government giving tourist extensions up to six months (30 days at a time). If you can still find a flight, although as I warned you the last one I could find was last night.

Last night I applied for a evisa for cambodia, and received it this morning. I have a flight with Thai tonight which is (fingers crossed) still not cancelled according to their website, where it is being regularly updated with other flights being cancelled, including the same flight on Saturday. I see there is still one on Friday which you could try. This would give you enough time to get the visa. I was willing to try the VOA too, as it doesnt appear to have been suspended for us, but- 24 hours is a long time right now.

If Thai doesnt work for you, Cambodia Airways operates a flight tomorrow night at about 9pm which is still operational.

You dont want to be in England right now!

Official advice on this seems to be that Cambodia has only suspended VOA via air (land borders are closed to get out of Thailand but not air as thai airways is still selling tickets) for a limited number of countries:

From my research it seems VOA for UK passport holders is still OK for Cambodia via phnom penh airport. Coming back will be the problem!

Please could you help advise me on what is currently required to extend by 60 days a visa stamp (90 days) from a non-imm O based on wife and/or child at Chaengwhattana?

I suspect it might be different in the cases of wife and child, however my visa specifies both wife and child even though I applied for one on the basis of child, I am concerned this will cause them to require me to provide "wife" based evidence.

Has anyone done this recently during covid?

So, in the end they cancelled my non imm b saying it was "tied to the company", so I now have til 12 March to go and get a non imm O. I will begin searching but if youre reading this and know, please let me know where locally I can get non imm O as parent with my childs birth cert, as its been a while since I had to.

I didnt mean that one, was the image you cropped also sensitive? That shows the 2 year. I deleted the first file as I forgot to remove the visa number in both places. Thanks!

They gave me the option to remain on the non imm O but also the option to change (without leaving Thailand) to the non imm B. As the attached scan shows, I chose to change to non imm B. The reason was, it would allow me to use the 2 and 4 year (four year) extension which is possible under the BOI soon, whereas I was advised the 2 and 4 year extensions would not be possible under non imm O. 

I can see now that they actually stamped my passport out and in the country, which is probably how they changed it to non imm B.

I was on non imm-O for marriage which I got from Laos, then I returned to Thailand and got a new job. After being hired, I didnt have to leave Thailand, I got put on a non-imm B at chaengwhattana which was under that first company.

This was not under BOI.

Then I got transferred to new company, which was under BOI. They cancelled my old extension and got a new 2 year extension under the "expert" visa programme. They also gave me a new work permit at this time. I never had to leave Thailand.

The 90 day reporting was handled for me by the co.

Thanks. To be clear, right now it is a non-imm B, not O. Can I still change the reason from work to supporting child?

Right now, the extension is a 2 year one, multi reentry.

I am currently working for a Thai company but I have resigned, so I understand that normally the work permit and visa will be cancelled, and one is given 7 days to leave the country. However, since I have a legitimate (born during marriage) child who is Thai, is there any option for me to use the existing non immigrant visa under that reason, or must I let them cancel it, and then re-apply for a non-imm O outside the country?

I have a squash court in my apartment building on BTS Thong lo station.

I am intermediate skill level looking to play every day.

I would prefer early mornings but am flexible to a point.

I can offer the court without payment at a convenient location a moments walk from the BTS Thong lo, but at this point I am unable to offer shower facilities. There is a toilet/sink available and a swimming pool with outside shower.

In practice for those of us who actually have seen this go down, the truth is the officer often WILL have a problem with it, and you have to argue the point for 15 mins, sometimes ask to speak to the boss, and sometimes make a call to someone higher up in the food chain. They like to sometimes say that under Thai law you must give up one of the nationalities. This is apparently actually true but not enforced in practice. It was amusing watching my lawyer, half thai friend argue with an officer at the airport on this for 15 mins last year. She said it happened 50% of the time she flew but never once was she actually not let on her way after a bit of discussion/argument.

It is after security checkpoints (which are "upstairs"), one then goes back down a new set of escalators to begin queuing for the immigration checkpoint. The desk is on the far right as one is coming down the escalators into the "immigration hall".
