I think its really great you changed your mind and read it. Hope others are also tempted by your experience. Its a great first stepping stone and I meet so many long timers who even have thai wifes, who know less about Thai culture and their wifes way of thinking than is covered in the first chapters of that book. Which of course is a shame, but those types know who they are and theyre the ones posting in anger against a simple, short, book who can do no harm even if it was dropped from State tower onto their heads.

The utilitarians among us will surely recognise that this award was made to improve the world. Ergo, I support it. Look at the bigger picture abd beyond the usual lense of prize-giving.

could also mean electrical fire?

Well some people do have the luxury of being able to not care what others think.. and it is a luxury. Many people have to operate in public environments like offices etc etc and unfortunately, it can matter alot

Liver problems? Or keep yourself cooler

People love to blame it on khao san but lets be honest- walk down sukhumvit at business closing times, lots of office Thai workers going home, loko at the average farang dress code. Pretty shabby. I know its hot but why do so many adults need to wear shorts in the evening?
Basically jsut be aware of your surroundings like youre on a stage and the audience is constantly watching and judging you because you know what, thats exactly what is happening every second you are in public.

You will still sweat on some days, of course.. and if youre overweight you will do so more.. even thais canty avoid that.

Susan Blackmore: My own consciousness
I believe (although I’ve never seen it for myself) that inside my skull is a brain containing billions of neurons connected to each other in trillions of ways, with signals zooming about, setting off other signals, and generally creating massively complicated loops, coalitions, sustained patterns, and multiple parallel organised streams of information that combined together control the behaviour of this – my body. And that’s it. So how come I feel as though there is a conscious “me” as well?
I would advise her to read http://cogweb.ucla.edu/Abstracts/Fodor_00.html

Also great reading for Buddhists who are bothered by the question.

You mean the heat? Dont turn on the air con during the day. Sit with a fan.
The number one tip is: stop letting things bother you. Something which would normally annoy you happens- dismiss it as unimportant. Get used to doing this and your heartbeat never rises enough to bring your body temp up. People think the Thais have a nevermind attitude for some cultural reason but its actually just that they have mastered how to avoid getting hot and bothered in this climate.

I have the full collection of ciggie warnings, looking forward to collecting the full bottle warnings if they materialise. Gotta have something to do in between all that smoking and drinkin'

can I recommend making the installer a small file which then connects to the server to download the full installation files, you will likely get more customers this way.
Also dont forget about linux.. it doesnt seem to run under WINE

The big question is child support under what laws, I guess? As a Thai mother you need to check if you can claim Danish child support or not, Thai support is what, 30 baht per day I was told? I am no expert, I hope you can contact the embassies for more info.

Yea it doesnt make sense and never heard a Thai do it.

you could maybe grab the rss feed, create new posts from it ("The Bangkok Post Rss Feed Area"), and then link the reply now button to a new thread (either created if first user, or to reply to already created) in a separate forum (protected if you like) which would allow you to keep within the new terms of BP and also allow your users to comment on their articles.
this particular strategy was ruled acceptable by the japanese courts in a famous japan movie production house vs. small forum site case a year or so back (not that this is relevant beyond being interesting)
-
Therefore IMHO (!), "a post of this kind" SHOULD still be possible, because you would simply be making access to the BKK Post's own website more easily accessible, not quoting from it - an interesting distinction.
Also, you would be advertising a link to the BKK Post's own website. Of course, I am NOT a lawyer and I'm writing this from the UK where different paractices, customs etc are in force. It would be interesting to see comments from people truly conversant with Thai law - George, do you intend to pursue this angle at all?
you are posting what you think should be the case but sadly it is not.

It is technically illegal to post any news content from any news source on a web forum like this, the fact web forums like TV get away with it is only because they are small fish and unnoticeable. If you get requests to stop doing it it is a positive sign your forum is actually getting noticed by someone.
Thaivisa is a profit making entity, and in the recent past there have been cases wherein a copyright claim has been made on news articles against NON profit websites using the content along with a fair use statement. Thaivisa not only makes money for a private entity but it also does not have a fair use statement, and even if it did, recent history shows this is no legal protection.

ttm are about to launch their loose leaf tobacco in africa, according to a friend who works with them they are very actively looking for new income at the moment.
-
i think it would have to be the dip in those small packets, rather than loose 'leaf' with bits going everywhere. Maybe the small put in your mouth packets could be marketed to the younger crowd, along the lines of heng anti hangover beverage, which sort of created a new market by rebranding the standard energy drink.

Im afraid Ive given up after episode 4.. do any of the remaining episodes have anything at all intelligent, interesting or exciting?
front-loading - had never heard the phrase but its exactly what occurred to me after watching the decline in content from 1 to 2 to 3 and to 4. I found myself wondering if surveys and research had shown tv companies that people will tune in repeatedly for a whole season so long as the first couple of episodes were good, even if it got boring afterwards. And thats pretty much what youve confirmed. Its such a shame.
