For what it is worth, i ordered one from Mitiyon in Pattaya exactly 2 months ago. Price on the order is 200k. Said would arrive in 2 months. Called me Dec 26 (1 month) so went to the shop only to find that it was NOT the model i ordered.
list price from Honda is 181.900 baht.....plus 2,100 baht registration = 184,000 "out the door" .....

over the last month i have rented / borrowed from mates, A Forza 350, X Max 300 and ADV 350 - all for a minimum of a day, and all in different road / riding conditions.....
My conclusion was:
Last place - Forza 350, just felt like i was riding a boat, didn't feel confident round bends, didn't like the look of the clocks, the 3rd rate suspension nor those awful rubber coated bars .
2nd Place - Yamaha X max, boat like as the Forza better round bends better than the Forza, but far from brilliant, suspension betther than the forza but you really have to upgrade. Clocks didn't do it for me nor did the rubber coated bars...
Winner - Honda ADV 350 - Just has a lovely vibe about it - more like you're riding an auto motorbike than a scooter, good round bends (well for a scooter) - suspension would knock the other 2 into next week. Has propper "wide bar" handle bars, a lovely upright commanding riding position and an ADV style instrumment pannel.
So 11 days ago, went to the Honda scooter dealers, to find out about availability and price.....
was told about 3-4 months wait, but the sales lady said she would "see what she could do" ...
So placed a 10k deposit and prepared for a long wait ....
This morning (christmas day) got a message (and photos) from the dealers - "your bike has arrived and can collect tomorrow" (26th) ....

He did a big (house) renovation project for me and have recommended him many times....

I found an almost new car, 11k/month. I have an international permit, UK licence and local licence ????
Whoever you use - Make sure the car has proper "rental insurance" ...
A lot of the cheaper rental deals are advertised with "Class 1 insurance" - but a standard a Class 1 policy EXCLUDES hire & reward (ie rental) - If you rent a car with this type of insurance and there is a serious crash, the policy could be voided and, as the driver, you'll get roped into huge financial problems...
Ensure you look for a renter with proper cover - Then check their insurance documents - You are looking for a "120" clause, plus a note that the use is for "hire or rental purposes"..... Be very very careful ...

Went to my local dealers today to check out the new Honda ADV 350 "urban racer edition" - A limited edition to get the model off to flying start ....
I looked inside the "yoshimura" silencer and thought there is no way that can be road legal - I told the salesman my concerns, but he assured me that it was road legal - It is exactly how it was delivered from Honda, and the same as the advertising promo stuff - no way would the manufacturers sell a new bike that wasn't 100% road legal ....
Synical me looked for a "TIS" stamp, but there wasn't one ....
Someone who has bought one of the first ones registered, concerned about the noise, has taken it to his local MOT test centre for a DB test .... (legal limit is 95DB) .....
Imagine shelling out 200,000 baht for your brand new shiny bike and 100m down the road from the dealers getting a tug by the rozzers with a db tester, who take great pleasure in confiscating the bike and crushing the exhaust ....

My travel insurance covers private life civil liability guaranteeing damage caused to others during the duration of the trip and stay !

all the rental companies in pattaya that i contacted told me that bike insurers won't offer cover for rental motorbikes / scooters - so the only cover that is available is the very very basic "government insurance" - if that's not enough - i suggest you don't rent ....
