  1. i'm looking at a used Honda that was supplied by Honda Big Wing in Bangkok and the bike is "Bangkok registered"...

Both the seller and I live in Hua Hin...

Is it possible to take the bike / green book to the local vehicle transfer office in Pranburi - or does the bike need to go to Bangkok - or our regional office in prachuap khiri khan ??

    any help gratefully received.

  2. The previous answer is incorrect. IF the bike has been properly registered, and that was paid for, there is also a mandatory government insurance policy that should also have been purchased. That payment is on the bike, not the driver. So it's important to get that paper from the bike seller. Registration is about 100 baht a year, the insurance about 450 baht. Also, it doesn't ever matter if you change ownership using the Green Book. As long as the payments are made and you have possession of the Green Book, it will be cool and legal. Check with an insurance agent!

Im an ACII and had my own insurance brokerage for over 30 years.

Have lectrured in insurance practice and Law.

    "I Aye wrong" .......

  3. We live on Wong Amat Beach in Naklua, and have wonderful breezes from the sea almost every day.

What about the construction noise with the contractors working 24/7 ??

Then there's all the dust and paint in the air when they paint the outside of the buildings....

And all the congestion and the damage to the sois by the relentless concrete deliveries...

When you do venture down to the beach, the walkway has collapsed, and the sea don't look that clean, imho....

Far better places to live in Thailand if you ask me.....

  4. As the Benelli 300 TNT has only recently been released , there havent been too many long term reports on them , yet . GARYZX6R is putting the Kilometers on his , and posted of his 1,000 KM service earlier . So at least he has surpassed the 1,000 KM benchmark set by Honda , for blowing up . Lets hope other owners arent put off from posting . I admire many bikes , but i dont buy then all , this doesnt make me a tire kicker . The Kawasaki and Yamaha may be better bikes in many ways , for some , but that comes at a price ( financial ). Many people are still following the heard , and buying Honda . If they have done their research , and still wish to take a chance with the quality issues , and are happy with a much more basic bike ( in looks , components , performance and value ) , then thats up to them . Maybe thats all they really want , and need , a basic runaround bike . Its just such a shame theres the quality issues . Has the Benelli had any quality issues - no , but its early days , so lets run some for longer . Do i believe , based on past experience , thay will prove less reliable than the Hondas - no . Lets give a welcome new manufacturer a chance - yes .

As the Indian market has had the 300 for a few months, can i suggest going onto you tube and putting in "Benelli TNT 300 review"...

There dozens of roads tests on there, with all pretty positive comments....

  5. Honda 300F 286cc Single cylinder 22.7 kW (30.4 hp) @ 8 500 rpm 26.2 Nm (19.3 lb-ft.) @ 7,000 rpm 161 kgs

    Yamaha MT03 321cc Twin cylinder 31 kW (41.6 hp) @ 10,750 rpm 30 Nm (22.1 lb-ft.) @ 9,000 rpm 169 kgs

The MT03 sounds a much better deal (also has 2 pot front brake caliper while the Honda has a single).

The Benelli TNT300 is 302cc and also a twin cylinder, 37.73 bhp, has twin front discs with twin pot calipers, USD forks and according to the bike testing fraternity, is "the best sounding twin cylinder bike on the planet" - for 139,000 B "on the road", incl 1st class insurance.

  6. People are on about reliability, Chinese built etc etc. nonsense.

See the CBR300 thread for the guy's CB300 (CB286) who's engine disintegrated at 15k km and needed a whole new bottom end.coffee1.gif

yes but at least those people go buy a honda and have problems with it.

and no one buys benelli and no problems.

for every Benelli sold maybe 100s or maybe 1000s of hondas leave the dealers.

so, anyone here bought one? Any real life reviews?

or just talking the talk: how great benelli is? without any idea or any test ride?

I passed by one of them recently and it really sounds good but get close it looks really low quality. upside down fork or steel brake hoses does not mean anything or not a guarantee for quality or for a better ride.

and it is very heavy at 200 KG when i checked specs.

definitely prefer to pay 40 000 more and get the new mt 03. lighter, more powerful , better looking and it is a yamaha. At least you know what you are riding with Yamaha but Benelli...?

Thats what's the appeal of the Benneli - Hondas are everywhere, people doing the same old same old jollying them up...

Having gone down the local Benneli dealers and given the 300 a good looking over, i would say you are looking at a decent quality product for the price.....

  7. Yamaha Thai website now has MT-03 ABS for 177,000:

    Link>>> Yamaha MT-03

    attachicon.gifMT03.jpg

Man that will be an awesome little bike for Thailand, light, fast comfortable 2 up and with plenty usable power I think they will have another winner on their hands

It's a really good time to be looking for smaller bikes right now and if we are really lucky it might start a bit of a war between the different manufacturers, happy days!!

As my Uncle Percy used to say - "there's never been a better time to be rich..."

  8. Went down to the Benelli dealers to see what all the fuss is about, as their new bikes getting rave reviews in the press....

TNT 600i (4cyl) is 295,000 B on the road, incl free 1st class insurance.

TNT 300 (2cy) is 139,000 B on the road, inlc free 1st class insurance.

They are also offering a free Benelli back pack on all bikes registered in Aug / Sept.

The pictures don't do the bikes justice - they are spot on in the flesh and look very well put together, with nice touches like twin Brembo front brakes, exposed trellice frame with adjustable Sachs rear shock and Marzocchi USD forks - No other bikes can match this spec for the price.

Sat on them both and can report a nice comfortable riding position, well positioned foot pegs and nicely padded seats with contrasting stitching.

    I was impressed.....

Where is this dealership and when you said it was comfortable riding position, how tall are you and what build?

have many dealerships throughout THailand, per dealers map below:

  10. I think its a case of "Wake up , and smell the coffee" . Honda has had more than its fair share of recalls lalely The quality they once had , is slowly slipping . The various companys , in various countries , that make Hondas , are "making to a price" , same as everyone . Might as well chose something exciting , stylish , powerfull and cheaper . At least nowadays theres a choice .

Is the tnt300 cheaper then then cb300f? Didnt know that.

    Sent from my c64

    It's not. TNT 300 is 139,000 baht. CB300F is 130,000.

Regarding power, the Benelli does put out a little bit more horsepower. However, its wet weight is almost 40kg heavier than the CB, so the CB has better power/weight ratio.

Looks are completely subjective, so I'll leave that one alone whistling.gif

Agree everyone is diferent and the 300F is the safe option....

I bought one of the first 300F's to come out......loved it, but moved house to where there are a lot of pot holes in the side roads and the 300F's suspension struggled to cope, so decided to sell it and buy an enduro...

it was 9 months old with 800km on the clock......i bought it for 125,000 B (special introductory offer) and sold it quite easily for 110,000 B......

Not sure if I'd have bought the Benelli i'd have come out so well...

Went to the local Benelli dealers a couple of days back and had a good look round the Benelli - its got some lovely touches - they're spot on in the flesh and look very well put together, with nice touches like twin Brembo front brakes, exposed trellice frame with adjustable Sachs rear shock and Marzocchi USD forks - No other bikes can match this spec for the price.

if i was in the market for a 300 today, i think i'd plump for the Benelli....

  11. I really don't get this experimenting with Chinese bikes, if they are super-cheap yes, but at 139k it costs more than the Honda CB300, why would you do that? Even if I was seduced by the styling, which I am not, or the twin cylinder, which I think offers very little, if anything, it's a Chinese bike FCS and "no reported problems", what's that all about? Honda is Honda, Bellini is What??

It seems that by the time these Chinese bikes get close to being as good as proven makes, they get as expensive, so why bother?

Autocar think the Benelli is great:

  12. Is anyone out there on a committee of a Housing estate under Juristic control and can offer some advice based on past experience ??

I bought a house on a Moban a few weeks ago (Thai limited company)....Got talking to a Ferrang neighbour who "owns" his house on a 30 year lease.....

There is an AGM comming up next month and me and my neighbour tried to put our names forward to be elected as directors / committee members.

We were told that only Thais can be Directors - being a shareholder of a company that owns a house or leaseholder doesn't qualify.

any first hand experience in this would be appreciated...

  13. There are 2 CRF 250 models....

The "L" has knobly tyres, taller seat height, harder suspension and bigger wheels

    and

The "M" which has road tyres, lower seat height, softer suspension and smaller "super moto" wheels...

If you are looking at doing most of your riding on the roads and want to carry a passenger - then the "M" model is a wise choice....

And because of it's "dirt bike DNA" its very capable of dealing with the pot hole invested roads and dirt tracks over here, far better than a typical road bike.

One thing you will need to do though is to change / modify the seat - its way too hard and too narrow....

Seat concepts do a really comfy / wider seat, which i have fitter to mine and its a delight:

    http://www.seatconcepts.com/products#!/Honda-CRF250L-2012-15/p/15889818

Althernatively i'm sure a local seat shop could do something along these lines too...
