  1. If you are a current 3BB DSL customer they can waive the deposit and the install fees, but you do need to prepay for the first month. We've overlapped DSL and FFTx installs for a few months just to insure connectivity, then cancelled the previous DSL service even though the contract(s) were only a few months old.

The price would not come down, per se. There might be subsequent promotions which you would have to proactively engage. 3BB is not having issues selling the service, it's just that they are being aggressive, sales reps are highly incentivized, once an area has been targeted for deployment they go all out. I am not in any way associated with 3BB or Jasmine.

  2. The 3BB promotional pricing on FTTx (30/3 and 50/10) is a limited offer, I think until the end of this month, but often these offers get extended.

According to the contract I reviewed, this lower, promotional price remains in effect until such time as the contract is terminated, although there is a lot of wording protecting Jasmine (obviously), and which would allow them to raise the price at some point in the future. For the most part, promotional prices are honored here (amazingly) ad infinitum.

  3. We on have TOT ADSL in the mooban, and we can't go for more than 12 mbps. I know the Internet is the problem because I can stream from most addons that aren't geographically restricted that are available on Kodi/XBMC on my phone.

I doubt that you'd be satisfied with AirNET; are there any other fixed-line options (DSL from another provers, FTTx? DOCSIS)?

Im getting 3bb fiber 30/3 installed off soi siam today 1200baht p/month. They've run at least a 1000'of this small cable at a flat installation rate. Im the only house in my moo baan getting it with over 140 houses.

These long 'home-runs' can be problematic initially, as there are several splices from the shelf on the main road into your moo ban. And every person who props a ladder up against the cabling will (potentially) snap your fiber. Been there, done that. The good news is that it is easy to locate, and repair breaks.

Things get better when more people get the service and they put a shelf inside the moo ban.

Overall it's a good service, although the Huawei CPE has some WiFI issues.

  4. "Decentralization" was one of the primary (three or so: education, free & fair elections) categories of "reform" sought by the PDRC, and their sponsors (amart, military), even though Thai governance is totally decentralized down to the village level.

It never made sense for the amart to want to cede any control to the serfs, so "re-centralization" should hardly come as a shock.

Based on what little detail you've provided re: your requirements I'd say that AIS AirNET may not prove satisfactory. Maybe look for another solution?

We've had quite a few customers on this service, as initially it was all that was available. It was OK, but problematic during peak usage periods, perhaps owing to restricted back-haul?

We've transitioned most customers off to fixed line access, although some have chosen to keep AirNET for back-up purposes.

  6. You can contact the publisher of any app, paid or free, which you might find it challenging to obtain because of location. Often they will arrange for payment (if a paid app), provide a known, good, safe, secure, apk download and the requisite licensing details.

As mentioned in my first reply on this thread, side-loading apks is probably the easiest, simplest, most straight-forward method of obtaining the un-obtainable. You can download the apk to your PC, and then push it, and even install it, onto a phone on the same network.

I think having a local Thai SIM, and just using mobile data, is probably not the best of steps to take when trying to defeat geo-location restrictions.

  7. Once you're in Settings, Apps, Google Play, you might as well clear the CACHE (just below Storage, Clear data) for the Play Store app..

I'd also recommend re-starting the phone, maybe even with a battery pull & SIM removal. Obviously having a net VPN, running on your router, would make things a bit easier.

Or just side-load the apk and be done with it; it will take 30 seconds.

Back in the early days of the robot there many geo-restricted apps., but there are fewer these days.

  8. Best to examine all of the available options, talk with neighbors as they're sure to know what is available, then come back here and present all of the options.

At first blush, it's hard to figure how 3BB 13/1 can be any worse than what you have now? But maybe the current "premier" service offers something in the way of an SLA?

Without a clear understanding of all the available options I might pull a second 3BB line and use both for a few months, then cancel the older service, assuming you are satisfied with the newer service.

We support quite a few customers on 3BB 13/1 DSL and 3BB FTTx (most 30/3, one is 50/10) and I have to say that 3BB is very accommodating re: service transitioning, tech support, on-site installs, etc.

As more and more people stream video content from off-shore, you should expect that type of service to become increasingly challenged until such time as the content distribution migrates closer to Thailand.

  9. The ID badges for NLA members are (honestly) dated valid until 2020, so expecting an "election" much before then is a pipe-dream.

Maybe with 1/3 of the lower body seats reserved for the Military, 1/3 for the Amart and 1/3 for the Serfs and a fully appointed ( by Good People, of course ) upper body, aka: 'Reforms which Good People will like', there could be an election sooner. But it may take time to fashion this into an acceptable charter, and lull the common folk into accepting their "sufficiency".

  10. I did indeed have the ethernet cable from the 3BB ADSL router going into the WAN port on the D-Link 615 wireless router.

And you set the 3BB device to BRIDGE MODE? And re-configured the D-Link with your 3BB PPPoE credentials?

Now my best guess is that your cabling is probably OK, but you may not have your modem/router properly configured. But who knows, as you appear to be changing just about everything, intermittently and randomly

Are you still experiencing problems? If so, try to get DSL stats when you experiencing issues - take the D-link out of the network, use the 3BB device in standard mode, with a single wired ethernet connection to a PC.

  11. Not sure if this problem is recurring but if it is try turning the phone off, removing the battery, removing the SIM, reinstall the SIM, battery and re-start.

If the problem persists, try a factory reset.

Could be a glitch in the proximity detector, but not enough detail provided to even remotely hazard a guess.

    What model?

Has anything changed recently? Dropped the phone, added new software, did a system update, etc?

Screens and digitizers can be replaced, wither with OEM parts or lower-cost alternatives, but repair costs might be 75% of the current value.

  12. I think this one ought not be trusted, just a way for the telecoms to nickel and dime you.

I NOW hang up the second i hear it.

I think the called party enables this feature, which allows them to get a missed call (maybe they were on the phone, the phone was out of service/no network, or was turned off).

You, as the calling party, probably get dinged for 1 full minute (so maybe ~ 1.07 baht if prepaid) of originated calling time even if you hang up up immediately, as opposed to paying nothing if the called party had not enrolled in this service. And the called party might get dinged for an SMS?

Net/net, blame the person you're calling rather than those evil telecomms, for "3 baht-ing" you.

  13. Without a clear understanding of what it is you are hoping to accomplish I might recommend a complete re-start.

From a PC using a VPN presenting a U.S.- IP address register for a new GMail account, then register at the Play Store using this new GMail account, then add any required CC details/information.

Do a factory reset on the phone, then set it up using the new GMail account detail, preferably with the Thai SIM removed, using WiFi and VPN.

For me prices in the Play Store present in USD on my my mobile devices (GNex 4-purchased in the U.S., GNex 5-purchased in Thailand, SGSTab4-purchased in the U.S.), but in THB on my PC when not using a VPN, and in USD when using a VPN (with a US IP).

Some apps. may not be available in some geographic locales.

I think I originally had to side-load the Fidelity APK; this is where you locate and download the APK and then install it on your phone. This may require changes to Settings, Security, tick Unknown sources”.

The Fidelity app. (2.4.1), and the BofA app. work fine here for me.

You should be able to install the Fidelity app. on your phone, using the Play Store app. on your phone (do not try this from your PC), assuming your phone is on a WiFi VPN, if not, sideload the apk.

With a little knowledge, hacking, searching and reading, you can pretty much get anything to work, but I will admit that the Play Store doesn’t necessarily handle geo/loc all that well.

One tip, on your phone, in the Play Store app, go to menu, settings, user controls, Require password for purchases, and tick “For all purchases through Google Play on this device”.

Just click on Movies if you want to see paid items, and the currently associated currency.

A U.S.-issued CC, even with a Thai billing address should be fine. You may run in to foreign usage fees (3% on some CC) if you purchase in THB (without using a VPN).

  14. Is he a kicker? Some of those rugby kickers are pretty amazing.

If not, what is his height, weight, age, 40 speed, vertical leap, bench/squat?

I see he is a running back, and Reggie Bush is pushing him towards Detroit.

Digby Ioane seems to be interested in the NFL as well.

My guess is that he has zero chance given there is an unending supply of experienced players coming out of college.

I heard this guy on NPR last week, amazing story. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/page/veterans121106/daniel-rodriguez-army-veteran-serves-inspiration-clemson-tigers-teammates-college-football
